A long time ago, in the distant land of Egypt, there was a God worshipped named Anubis. He was the Jackal God of the Underworld. His temple was one that was grand and the people who worshipped him adored their beloved God dearly. However, fear crept into the hearts’ of the people as invaders were coming close to their land, as well as their beloved temple. So, they prayed to their God, Anubis, to send help. Anubis heard the cry of the people, and decided to help them out. After all, these were the people who adored and worshipped him, keeping him and his temple standing.
After a call out to his more kind-hearted brother, Poseidon, Anubis made a deal. The deal was that of this: If Anubis was to receive help from Poseidon, then he, in turn, must one day help Poseidon back, in any manner of speaking. Anubis had agreed to this deal, signing his name in the blood of the people from his unearthly domain.
So, with the deal agreed to and Anubis’ word, Poseidon sent out his creatures of the deep, warding off the intruders. These ’creatures’ were what the people described as ‘blessings from below’. They had the tail and fins of a fish, as well as gills. Their feet were webbed and they mainly relied on swimming. After most, if not all, of the intruders were scared off, or killed, the creatures went to return to their original master, the God of the Seas, Poseidon. Unfortunately for them, there was a small part of the deal that had not been explained to Anubis in the beginning. After their task had been completed, they were now the property of Anubis, not being able to ever return to the sea.
Anubis, quite unhappy about this ordeal, sent the creatures to his temple in which the people worshipped, making them the rightful guardians of it, to protect it for all eternity. Over the years, the creatures began to form more-so with the land, loosing their gills and gaining lungs, loosing their fins and webbed feet and gaining claws, horns, and more land-like legs. However, through all the years they’ve been guarding the Temple of Anubis, they have not lost their uncanny distinction to where they originally came from… Their tail fin. This one characteristic stuck with them, and has yet to disappear, even to this day. Some say that evolution has just kept it as is and is letting the creatures use it for a different purpose while others say that it’s a reminder of how Poseidon helped out Anubis and that he still had to repay him in that aspect. All is still unclear...
Now, in the present day, the temple is no longer called the Temple of Anubis. It’s called the Eitriarch Temple. Many do not know why or how it got this newfound name, or if the creatures that once guarded the great temple still do.. Until now.......
