[04/23/05] Well.. I've been thinking about it for a while, and in addition to the auction, I think I'll go ahead and hold a flatsale, too. I've already got two wisps created. I'll post a preview of them in the thread sometime today I think.
[04/20/05] Lots of updates in how things are run around here. Sorta. Well.. introducing new things for guardians, but you all know that. Just as soon as the plot is over there is going to be a semi-custom auction! It's going to be interesting, needless to say. So if you know anyone who's interested in having a Shadow of there own, start chatting them up!

I'm the kind of person that prefers to keep to herself most of the time. I'm quiet, I prefer to be alone, and I greatly appreciate the quiet that comes with the darkness of night. It's unnerving to most, and frightening for young children who've been scared by stories of monsters, but I love it. It's nice and cool, almost as though it's a tangible thing I could reach out and touch.
With those thoughts in mind I make my way down the street after locking up my art studio. I work in Durem creating custom artwork for people, but I live just outside of Bass'ken Lake, far away from everyone in town. I take the last bus of the day to the outskirts of town and I walk the rest of the way.
It's a rather nice walk, but I don't mind at all. The night air is refreshing and it's a great way to relax after the hustle and bustle of customers all day. Every step I take towards my cozy little home eases the tension back behind my shoulder blades and soon enough I'm entirely at ease.
I was more than halfway home, almost past Mr. Logan's shack, when I heard something. I tensed and cautiously looked around but I saw nothing -- nothing but the darkness around me and the slight gleam of the moon off the lake.
I took in a steadying breath and continued on my way, but what happened next was completely unexpected. I heard that noise again and I whirled around to see who was behind me, paranoia getting the best of me. My gaze fell upon a small swirl of inky black that moved as though the darkness really was becoming alive.
Slowly I bent down to crouch before the little swirling mass of darkness and noted that there appeared to be a gem or something of the like hovering inside of.. whatever it was.
"Very interesting.." I whispered quietly to myself as I tilted my head to get a better look at it in the moonlight, but it kept creeping into the shadows, clinging to them almost.
"Isn't he though?" a voice out of nowhere replied.
I jerked around sending the little startled creature quivering about my legs as though it were trying to cling to my own shadow. "Who might you be?" I asked in a steady voice as I eyed the person who had suddenly appeared before me.
"My name is of no importance. But.. you may call me Athan," the man spoke in a quiet, low voice.
I caught the brief glimmer of a smile but it was hard to make out any of the man's features since he was wrapped almost entirely in darkness, similar to that of the little wisp at my feet, but distinctively different. "Well.. Athan, it's.. nice to meet you," I replied slowly, "I'm Reyna."
"I know your name."
I did my best to not let my surprise show but from the slow smile I caught a glimpse of I didn't do a very good job.
"You are an artist who works in Durem, correct?"
"That's right."
"I have a proposition for you," the man replied cooly. He flicked his hand in a certain gesture and the hovering mass of darkness at my feet skittered towards him reluctantly. "This," he motioned to the creature, "Is what I like to call a 'Shadow Fiend.' They are composed of shadows, darkness, and as you may have noticed, a small gem."
I nodded to let him know I was listening and folded my arms over my chest. The night air seemed to chill around us as night fully set in. "Do you mind if we continue this conversation elsewhere? My home isn't too far from here.."
We settled at my house but despite the lights I flicked on the man that spoke to me remained shrouded in darkness almost as though the light were being soaked into his heavy cloaks. He explained to me what the creature I'd discovered was, and he revealed his proposition.
These creatures needed homes. They needed Guardians. And apparently I was the perfect individual for the role.

Shadow Fiends are creatures made of darkness. They are in fact actually shadows and they cling to actual shadows and aren't exactly fond of being in direct light, which is why you won't see them galavanting about outside during the day.
When they are born they will follow it's owner or whomever they've bonded to endlessly. As they grow they will begin to mimick their Guardian and sort of take on a few of their personality traits until they age enough to form their own personality. They also reflect traits that are associated with their stone or gem that is contained inside them. When they are fully grown that gem will appear somewhere on their skin.
These Fiends do not actually speak vocally and communicate entirely through telepathy. Any other abilities they have will relate back to their stone and will be discovered as they grow up.
Shadow Fiends are also very mischevious and curious when they are young. Mind you they are not evil, per say, but do expect quite a bit of trouble. Taking one of these creatures as your own will involve quite a bit of work.

The only explanation she's ever offered for the name is that violet is one of her favorite colors, and the way she paints seems 'violent' as are many of the themes in her artwork. Aside from that she refuses to go into detail about her work. She prefers people to make their own conclusions without the influence of her own opinions (and she has many).
She keeps to herself and lives just outside of Bass'ken Lake in a marshy area. She chose to live in the area soley because of the fact that no one else lives there. Needless to say, she greatly appreciates quiet and solitude. Reyna has a few close friends, but for the most part she prefers to remain alone.
She does, however, love the company of her pets and 'companions' so to speak. She has an assortment of odd, interesting creatures that live in her home with her. Of these creatures, the most interesting would be a Shadow Fiend whom she fondly refers to as 'Mystic.' She's still trying to figure out exactly what 'he' is. Either way, he's always there hovering somewhere in the darkness watching.
Her artwork is what consumes the vast majority of her time. If you were to be invited to her home (a rare treat, that) you'd notice right off the bat that most of the walls are covered in paintings, framed drawings, or that the walls themselves have been painted in murals that depict different scenes of landscapes or patterns. Everything flows together nicely though despite some of the odd color schemes she chooses to go with.

Height: About 5'9"
Nationalitiy: Not quite sure but she appears to be caucasian. Reyna prefers to remain a mystery.
Personality: She appears to be quiet and many people think she is, for lack of a better word, a b***h. Not to say that she doesn't have her moments, but there is a different side to that cold exterior she puts forth that unfortunately very few people get to see. She doesn't have a sunny disposition, but she is a lot more sensitive than she lets on or even cares to admit (even to herself). Reyna is insanely creative. Literally. Essentially -- she's an eccentric artist who's greatly introverted.
Aspirations: To keep improving and honing her artistic abilities.

Athan remains shrouded in darkness and watches over the shop and on occassion will pay a visit to Guardians to check on the fiends. He has supplied no reason (as of yet) for anyone to fear him so don't mind too much when he pays you a visit. He's a nice guy! - Keep the drama to yourselves. No flaming in my thread or you'll have to deal with Athan's wrath.
Do not steal Reyna's artwork or you'll have to deal with her wrath. Which could be worse than Athan's if you really want to think about it.
Serious roleplay will be done in the guild, but feel free to play around on the thread. Be sure to keep any OOC chatter ((bracketed)) in some fashion.
If there's some roleplaying going on, try not to be rude and interupt in the middle of it, please. It kind of takes away from the story.
Roleplay Rules:
- Read the description of the stages! It has important information for Guardians.
NO godmoding. If I see any of this from the Guardians themselves I will bring it to your attention once. More than that I will have to take your Fiend away.
Maintain a journal for your Fiend. Roleplay is greatly encouraged! (You'll be given a Journal in the Guild)
No l337 speech when you're playing. Try to keep things in story format. Anything other than that will not be considered serious roleplay.
Stay in character, and keep OOC chatting to a minimum in journals.
Document any roleplaying that happens outside of Gaia. If you claim something happens to your Fiend and nothing to show for it, it might as well have never happened.
If for some reason you are unable to update your journal regularly (i.e. something in real life prevents you from doing so) let me know!

[01/28/05] It's official! The guild is set up with rules and even a really nice commons area for Guardians to roleplay in. It's actually supposed to be attached to this shop!
[01/28/05] The guild is now mostly functional and there are journals up and about, though most of them are still being worked on -- which is still cool. Because they're there! I'm excited. All that's left to be done is for the meeting ground to be set up with images and descriptions. Once this is done, I foresee an auction of some kind, perhaps..?
