El Laberinto del Fauno is one of my favourite movies. I agree with the creator of this thread, you forget it's subbed. I detest the Spanish language, so that's quite a feat.
This movie was an such a visual and aural masterpiece. It's a wonderful reminder that children are not as dumb as we think.
I loved the way it wove the life of a highly imaginative child with the horrors of Fascist Spain. The atmosphere of the entire film was perfect.
And lucky me, my wonderful boyfriend bought me it on DVD for my birthday.

amazingly great movie.. for sure a fairy tale for adults.. the whole thing was extremely imaginative.. i haven't seen many other movies like it.

professorB Damn good movie. The movie is set in 1944 facist Spain. It centers around a little girl who has moved to the country with her mother, who has recently married a captain after the death of her previous husband. The girl, Ofelia, begins to invent a world of fantasy, centered in a labrynth in the woods. It was reallly an amazing movie. It was also remarkably fluid. At times I found myself forgetting there were subtitles (It's in Spanish in case you don't know). I give it a very high recommendation.

Twinkle.xx.Toes professorB Damn good movie. The movie is set in 1944 facist Spain. It centers around a little girl who has moved to the country with her mother, who has recently married a captain after the death of her previous husband. The girl, Ofelia, begins to invent a world of fantasy, centered in a labrynth in the woods. It was reallly an amazing movie. It was also remarkably fluid. At times I found myself forgetting there were subtitles (It's in Spanish in case you don't know). I give it a very high recommendation. A big maze that you walk through.

I liked it, but did anyone else notice the similarities between Pan's Labyrinth and C.S. Lewis. The whole thing with the Faun, time period being WW2, the girl escapes into a realistic dream world to become its queen. I'd almost call it a ripoff. It was basically just a darker version of C.S. Lewis. The best scene was when the lady went all crazy on the captain. I loved that part. lol

There are also a lot of similarities between El Laberinto del Fauno and Jim Henson's Labyrinth - though not as stark.

Lewis story is that Pan's Labrynth was actually cool. Movie wise I would agree with you. The movie for the Lion, the witch, and the wardrobe wasn't that great. The book series, however, is a good one and I wouldn't call it uncool.

i do not know if anyone who saw the movie did but the guy that was all freaky looking that ate the babies that gave me nightmares scared the crap out of me especially how it looked and all.

I thought it was a great movie as well. At times I also got where I forgot there were subtitles, it was just that good. I could probably watch the movie without any words or subtitles at all.

that was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.
I wasn't expecting the gore... but I don't think it was unnessecary gore...
it was gore in good taste...
