There is a reason that this topic is "Setting Up", it is because I am not sure if I will be doing this. I do appreciate the immediate replies but you know, this was still supposed to be hidden, especially if I decide not to go.

--Written in the heat of the moment due to annoyance and frustration. Still seething, I await before I commit to an action. If this thread goes active, I have come to a decision. If not, well, then I stay or I just left.

You know what,

Forget this. I am done.

What the hell was I working for? To make gaia a better place. This is bullshit now. This obviously is not a place I would want my young nieces and nephews to go to any more. It has progressively gotten worse, and now the straw that broke this camel's back.

It is one thing that I already have been working against artificial inflators and the deterioration of this society. Now I have to work against the mods too? The hell was I working for?

Once this is done perhaps I will just slip off this site.

I do not see the point in being here any more, so I am auctioning out all of my items in bulk.

I think I am worth somewhere over... I have no idea but I do have 03 items so I know I am worth more than a few million.

Especially since I have multiple instances of letters.

All proceeds will just go to a... I don't know some first day newbling? A random charity? Who the hell knows.
Needless to say I will only take pure gold.

If any of you are wondering, the one who gets the auction will also get my mule's stuff. I did say "ALL" earlier.

See, these are my mules:
1 - Zacharov - only used for RP once and for all extra PMs
2 - SFC Claire - Was used for a store and my helpers very much unused
3 - SFC Millia - Same as Claire
4 - Wraith Contractor - I barely used him
5 - Ylie - I just made this one, there are no items in him except the new set

I am pretty sure I have at least one more mule, but I forget their name and password so I don't think it matters.

---
The ones people won't get are the ones attached to a particular cause and guild.
[candela] - Is AIR so no you would not get her
PIMP Dealer - Same as Candela

If this does not sell by a week or two, I will just probably slip out and say forget it. As for changing my mind and staying. I haven't really considered that.

I do not want to list what is in my inventory since I get this error:

"Your inventory is too large to be displayed all at once! You may still navigate your items by using the tabs above, or if you would like to re-enable the "All" tab, please remove some items from your inventory and place them in storage."

So that is about it. People can reach me in msn.

To reiterate:
1 - I am auctioning all my items in bulk. All proceeds go to some lucky first day newbling. ((May they have fun))
2 - So I will only accept gold
3 - If this does not sell by a few weeks, I would just say screw it and zip out.
4 - No, I am not selling one item at a time, it will take me years to do.
5 - It is not just this account's items, it will be even my mules.
6 - Do not gift me with any items, it will just go in this bulk auction as well so it is pointless.
7 - I have everything I want and wanted in gaia, so I never really had to quest.

This is posted and made in the heat of the moment. I doubt that I can be persuaded to stay but it may happen. For that possibility even though highly improbable, I must apologize now.

There is no auto-buy for this. I have a rough estimate on how much all these items are worth. Then again, my approximation was months ago and the starting bid is nowhere near the actual value.

Starting bid = 10 Mil

I know my items are worth more than that.
How can one trust that I will give all of what is in this account? Well, you can ask a mod for all I care.

Think of it this way, if I have nothing, there is a lot less reason for me to come back. So it is a clean break.

1 - This thread is legal even in the TOS
2 - This is a definite auction thread so it stays in the exchange.
3 - Oh no!! It is going to some random first day newb who I never contacted or had dealings with. Will they add insult to injury and ban this account for it for it?

I would have been happy to stay and keep at it, had it only been other users that I had to work against. The fact that the governing body's actions directly contradicts their purported view.

I agree that they can do nothing completely legal against those that have hijacked their site to bring it down in the mire with greed, but they don't have to slap the elements within it that are trying to keep a more pleasant environment. Nor do they have the good judgement to place some sort of nuance to differentiate things.

Good day.
My Reason:

Gaia is an on-line community. I've tried to do my part in enriching this community by doing activities such as sales, puzzles, and those types of activities.

Greed has been there and I know such a thing can not be excised. In certain cases it could be a good thing as it allows people to thrive. However, when it is as prevalent as it is now, it can not be a good thing.

My gaian career has always been in to building the community and helping people out. I like doing it however through third party action or as always an advisory role.

That has been how it was with the GGG, called the Gaian Gigolo Guild in November 03. What we did was band a bunch of people together. We did small contests as a guild and helped each other out with items and an inter-change.

It disappeared after a while, especially after thread glitches.

Next I became part of the FYA, who was built as a group to help out those of us who do these charities and sales. We are almost like a shadow organization that helps out charities and do give-aways, even if it is through a third party so that we are not as seen.

Lastly I am myself. I have hidden behind proxies and others so that I can affect change without getting myself known. I love being unknown, I do not get as many beggars or things like that. Helping charities through mules and through helpers who donate what I give to them for me.

The operative word here is "On-line Community":

How can I operate here, when the administrative body itself is the one that shows no consideration of it?

They have taken the Price Guides out of the Exchange without fully trying to comprehend the impact that it does. Has any one noticed the surge of prices nowadays? Such a thing is directly correlated to users not using the Price Guides but the Market-Place to price things instead. Price guides gives a needed time lapse due to the inability to update often. They complain that Price Guides can be manipulated easily, how much more so for a Market place that can get hijacked easily even by a user such as myself if I wanted to.

That is not my gripe. No, it shows favor to those who cause such crazy upshoots to the point that even in the "Contribute to our Site", when they posted the picture on how much a donation item grows, they placed a high price on one of those items making it surge past it immediately.

I thought this place was for building community. Not greed. Why cut the ones trying to help newer users by their knees? What have I been working for?

Now they take off the 1K shops and anti-inflation threads in the exchange. I thought that this place was where we can try to affect change in prices. In placing it in to charities, once again the governing body has slapped us in the face for trying to be nice. Trying to help out. Trying to show, that there is something here beyond just greed.

So, what now? I really have tried. It has never been inflation that I am going against.

I used to say "Still, do you truly think I can just give up? It is not an issue of winning or losing, to me it has always been an issue of how can gaia be made better in terms of the people. The current climate just breeds backstabbing and greed. I don't like it, it makes gaia much less fun. What is the point of being here if the people around are just sycophantic whores for pixels? That has always been my issue. So in the end, I give them things to do instead of paying the full price."

How can I say that if I have to go against mods to do it?

In the end, they forget the most important aspect of a forum or site. It is not how well laid out or how pretty things are or the features that is placed in. In the end, what gives a place its lasting appeal is the people found inside. Ever hear the quote "A place is only as good as its people"?

When I go, I do not know how many will follow. There is a reason for giving out everything. I can admit to being an inept exchanger, once everything of mine is gone, there is no point of being here as it will gall me to ask for help.
Decision making process:
Day 1 - Hour 1 - After the initial shock came annoyance and calm seething set in. I created the prelimenary thoughts on a thread. It remained in the "Post New Thread" for over 4 hours before hitting "post". Named it Setting up since I have not fully committed to this.

Near the end of the day, I spoke to an exchange helper. It is not that I do not understand their reasoning for taking such a step. It is the fact that they do not try to protect or differentiate those who are actually trying to do good, and trying to keep the community in some ways less hellish.

I PMed a mod the following:
My PM to a Mod
Sir,

I have spoken with a helper and that though I can see the point of taking off some of those anti-inflation shops and 1K threads in the exchange due to those that ask for donations, I ask for a little leniency.

I was told of the following:
a helper

In my personal opinion the 1k are good and all, but they've gotten to the point where people are using them as donation contests instead of an honest good natured discount. :[

You'll see some of these shops say "Donations will increase your chances of buying the item for 1k." Which pissed me off, but in the beginning they're legal, so they got to stay in the Exchange and aren't wrong. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but giving people a discount should be based on personal merit, not how much they can give you.

I can definitely agree on that. You have been on my threads and you see that I ask for personal merit. The puzzles they make and so forth.

The object is building a community after all. You have no idea the shock and the feeling of betrayal that I felt in the morning when I saw that announcement.
So much so that I felt compelled enough to set up something such as this:

http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16275345

I do not come to those decisions lightly. However, upon hearing the helper's comments, I decided to contact you directly. What I ask for is nuance, as the job of someone who tries to help out the newer ones of us is hard enough as it is. We do not need to get slapped down to wonder what were we fighting for.

Gaia is supposedly a community that is enjoyable. That has been what I was working for. Anti-artificial inflation and stability is just a means to an end since it is the under-dog.

I am around because when my little nieces and nephews grow older and discover gaia, I want them to have fun with it. As how gaia stands now, I would not want them there.

This is why I am asking for some sort of differentiation. Deal threads such as that, should not actively seek donations that create games like the helper said. Such is an abomination of the gift giving and very counter-productive.

However, in placing everything in charities it further cuts down the ability of those of us who are trying to influence things for the better. Where our job is hard enough as it is. It is almost as if we have to fight the mods to be nice, and that is not a good thing.

Any how, hope you read this and thanks.

Day 2 - I received the received the reply:
A Mod
I appreciate your concern, but as you might have seen this coming if we allow one then the rest will start complaining. This wasn't a one person decision. It was discussed and the changes were made. The only thing the exchange was made for was for direct sales only, and no matter how many times or how many ways we try to enforce that rule, there is always someone wanting an exception or someone trying to find ways to loophole it.
To which I replied "Understood, which is why I was not asking for an exception.
I was asking for a revision of differentiation. Well, that is it then.
It was nice while it lasted."

I understand that decision and in their quest for simplicity, in doing so, this will just compound problems in the long run. One can not always just reward the greedy and slap down those that try to be welcoming or helpful to the newer members, and expect a good community, lumping them with the bad. Personal and moral satisfaction just gets you through so much. Having to go against authority to do it, just is not that fun. Hard enough that we have to deal with rudeness from other users already. Though I need not explain myself any more.

X - Day 5? - Well just got this PM from 'Link

I just wanted to clarify one thing before you make a rash decision on leaving. When you PMd me I do hope you knew I reffered 1k and anti-inflation as the same thing. You know as well as I that I'm an anti-inflation supporter. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding. I have no means of stopping anti-inflationists. It's like you said, 1k shops do belong in charity, but shops selling for less that MP to stop inflation are highly supported by me and many others. Please think wisely before you make a decision, you nut.

`Link
Er,
I wanted to get that clarification as well as that change in the sticky. I did mention it to Akari that it was much appreciated.

As for why I am dressed like this, well I was going to go active with it and then head off, once I got your answer. Though did talk to Akari after. I, just have not had the time to change, nor do I have control on other people in posting in my thread while it is still in the "set-up" phase, while still considering things.

I do not know if I do want to stay, as things now stand. I have always mentioned I stay to have fun and be the repository of items for nieces and nephews who are below 5 years of age, who will discover this place as they grow older. The community building part has taken a back-seat nowadays and it is not the same place I would want to bring a kid to any more.

Thank you though, and you should know that when I wrote my setting-up to leave thread that it was done in the heat of the moment. Too much of a revolutionary that I would do such a gesture.

Good day, and sorry to have been a bother.
Whatever you decide is up to you. No bother. Cya out there nut xd
The Give-Away:

This will be mostly for people I know.
Placing a few more spaces for hmmm.
Now calling on those who wish to add their voice.
I am sad to see what Xyse has listed above and agree fully with him.

My time is becoming less and less on here. I am sad to admit.

I used to love the game. I still love alot of people here... but the initial liking is starting to wear thin with the continuous movements, inflations, noobs other crap stuff. Disappearance of friends.

The price guide and the drama involved with that i only managed to regain 210k/900k before becoming to sad to do anymore... sorry.

I just cant find myself to work for items anymore - like i did minis, d-tail etc. Theres no more sense of achievement as inflators find the process easier than me. And i see noobs turning rich over night.

Dont mail me asking for my stuff i have not said im leaving so leave me alone... unless your a friend then please do mail me.
I agree with innocent....

Even though im not a major rich person with a halo or a grizzly hat, i see things on gaia that shock me, hackers botting gold to the richiest people on gaia, And even inflators who get halos once a month , it isnt fair for the people like me among others who try to be good and caring for others to be brushed off by the admin... Andim also thinking of quitting gaia , this time for good, Im thinking of giving my items away to either the AIR guild or one of my closest friends...

And to you X,
I am sad to see you go, you were like a rolemodel to those who worked with and around you , i know you will be remembered by me till the last day i will be around, i thank you for being patient with me and other people...
Thanks. heart
Like Teh Fishy Girl I am not rich. I have no '03 items to call my own and, with adverage artistic skills, have never been interested in them as the only way to acchieve them would be either to sell all my 04 donation items (some of which where gifts from special people and so I would not wish that avenue) or exchange. Being principly against AI I never wished to contribute to it by participating in the act of exchanging.

For the community I did what little I could - my sealed charity has been open for over a year now. Yet I could not compare, and have a great admiration for, those who opened their 1k letter shops. Many of them gave what I only wished I could afford too yet they where different to my charity for they where not charity, as such, but shops. They sold their wares for the price they decided upon and so took a stand against the rising costs. If their era is at an end I am sad for they where the last stand against AI.

With the going of Xyzse, someone who I very much admire for his incite, his wit, his intellegence and his humour, I feel a time on Gaia has passed. The age of the community? I hope not. I hope something can be returned to how things used to be, when greed did not govern, but that is the future, nay? All I can do for now is express my regret and to those who knew him he will always be missed as a part of this place. Sure, I will still be in touch with him, but still there was something reassuring to see him around Gaia and to watch him concuct his puzzles. I'll miss that extra fun you brought to this place, Mr X/Y.

-Eh, I'll spell check this later.-
I really want to say something, and I have a lot to say, which I cant exactly put into words- its more like feelings.
X, I am really sad that you are leaving. When I joined A.I.R., I was really happy that I could help- that I could serve under a guy such as you with such intelligence and planning and hard-to-the-bone-ness.
At the same time, I see why you would want to. As seen by almost everyone, Gaia is almost turning into a competition to earn gold. There aren't too many places where you can hang out, and how "rich" and "poor" someone is doesnt come up. Furthermore, there aren't too many people that welcome new members such as you [and I admire you for that]. Actually, I admire you for many things. Your intelligence, your headstrong-ness, your want to make Gaia a better place- wow there aren't too many smart people out there nowadays, but X, you're one of those people. One of those people that seem to be able to make it through everything.
I realized what a blow that last thing was; it miffed me pretty bad too. I dont usually like talking "back" to mods, but, you know, I did it because "argh", and there was so much truth in your post of anger, that it made me PM Mr. `link.
I feel sad that such a could-have-been nice community, one that could've been fun, was so much fun years back has suddenly gone greedy, gold wanting and manipulative.
X, I want to thank you for all that you have done for me, all that you have done for A.I.R., all that you've done to motivate us and bring us your optimistic light- your hardiness that never failed, your amiable nature that made everyone love you, that made you welcome new gaians with warmness.

So, X, I will accept any decision you take, but if you do decide to leave, remember that you will be remembered, okay? <3
