The orphanage estimated that she was born some time in June or July of '93. However, she was officially adopted by Krrt on the 13th of September in '95 and celebrates her birthday on that date.
Personality
Samastra is generally not a kind person. She is arrogant and vain, often dealing out harsh insults to anyone who doesn't quite meet her standards. Krrt made sure that she knew she was adopted from the beginning, not wanting to risk resentment from her should she find out later. He always cushioned the little reminders he gave by assuring her that she was the "best little girl in the world" because he would not settle for any less. Samastra has always believed him, and is quite positive that she is superior to other children. As such, she has a tendency to carry grudges against anyone who proves themselves to be better than her in some regard. She's also very self-aware of her appearance, wanting to live up to the title of "best". She refuses to be seen in anything that isn't at the height of fashion or looking any less than her very best.
Those who do meet her standards are usually quick to earn her trust, should they want it. She is very loyal to this select group of friends, and as long as they continue to live up to her expectations, she will remain fiercely loyal to them. The thought of possibly betraying a friend would likely never cross this girl's mind. In fact, she seems to enjoy doting on her few friends. Her father always went out of his way to make sure that she remained happy, and she mimics this pattern of behavior by doing favors for her friends or buying them new clothes. After all, her friends should be looking their best as well.
Samastra is not a strong girl by any means, often having trouble lifting anything weighing more than seven or eight pounds, or roughly three kilos. She is fast, though only in short bursts. She generally finds herself winded after a minute or so of running. Her talents lie more heavily in her intellect. Krrt frowned heavily on any sort of cheating, always encouraging her to do her own work. This, coupled with her desire to live up to being the best, makes her want to excel in academics. She always puts forth her best effort in her classes, regardless of whether she thinks the teacher is competent or not.
Background
Samastra grew up in England with her adoptive father, Krrt. He adopted her when she was roughly two years old, and it's assumed that she spent her life prior to that in the orphanage Krrt adopted her from. The pair lived in Stranraer for several years in a small apartment just a few blocks from her father's workplace. Shortly after completing her first year of muggle schooling, she and Krrt moved to Dublin where a job opportunity had opened up for him. Currently, they still live there.
Her parents are a mystery to both her and Krrt. The only possible link to them is her last name, though Krrt has been unable to find any records of a couple by that surname. He thinks they may have been foreigners, or perhaps travelers from another world like himself. Samastra seems to have no real interest in finding out much of anything about them herself - she's perfectly content to continue living out her life with Krrt as she always has and sees no reason to disrupt it with a desperate hunt for her so-called 'true' parents. However, she does still push Krrt to keep up the search in the hope that she may have a younger brother or sister out there somewhere. Whether or not she has any biological siblings is an uncertainty. The orphanage reported that no siblings had been left with her when her parents left her with them, but there is a slight chance that they may have had other children after they left Samastra.
Samastra knows nothing about the magical world. She may or may not be descended from a pureblooded family, but she's grown up living in the muggle world. She's seemingly nothing more than an average young muggle girl swooning over the latest hunk of the week and trying to keep up with the most recent fashions. Naturally, she was rather skeptical when the letter from Hogwarts arrived. She remained quite convinced that it was a prank being played by one of the other children in the neighborhood, only coming to terms with it when a second letter was sent with a moving photograph of the headmaster was enclosed.
Once it sank in that she had actually been asked to attend a school for wizards and witches, Samastra began to feel more and more excited about the opportunity. She'd always felt that she was somehow better than other children - that there was something that set her apart - and here was the proof! She was superior. There was more she could accomplish with these powers she was to learn about. She could rise above the 'normal' folk and become something more.
Appearance
Samastra is a petite girl - rather short in stature. She often is mistaken for being a few years younger than she actually is, though Krrt is quite sure that she'll reach an average height once she's grown a bit more. Her skin is fairly dark in color. Krrt thinks she may have some Italian or Spanish ancestors somewhere in her lineage. She has green-gray eyes - the color is something like what grass might look like covered in a thin film of dust. They tend to remain hidden behind a pair of sunglasses whenever she can get away with it though. Her hair is naturally light brown, but she's not very fond of the color and dyes it black whenever her roots begin to show. It's rather wavy - just short of being curly, really - and is most often tied back in pigtails or a braid to keep it from falling into her eyes.
Goals
Samastra is not yet sure of exactly what she wants to be when she's grown up. Before she received the letter, she'd had her heart set on becoming a celebrity of some sort - her exact job didn't matter so long as she was famous. Now, she only knows that she wants to become one of the best witches alive, but she's sure there must be different jobs assigned in the wizarding world. So, she plans to wait to learn more about the magical world before deciding on any sort of dream job.

Personality

Background
Krrt comes from a separate dimension. He's a world-walker of sorts, able to travel from one dimension to the next. This is his only supernatural power, and he is unable to use it to transport any living creature save for himself. He originates from a version of Earth much more technologically advanced than our own, and is the spawn of a human female and a human male. He's fair-skinned and dark haired with piercing green eyes and a fondness for dark glasses.
He never was very close to either of his parents, and outright despises his father for abandoning his siblings and him in favor of a mistress. He loathes his name, the only thing his father ever gave to him. His mother was a distant woman, though she once was a doting wife and mother. After Krrt's father left, she became increasingly depressed, barely able to bring herself to give her children minimal care.
Krrt and his siblings eventually fled from home in search of something better. His two brothers and one of his sisters found work as singers and entertainers of sorts, while Krrt found his calling in the world of business. He resigned himself to caring for his younger half-sister, paying the girl little mind beyond seeing that she stayed in school and well fed. However, she vanished one day without a trace. The authorities were never able to find any evidence indicating where she may have gone, and suspicion eventually fell onto Krrt.
He fled that world, leaving a brief note for his remaining siblings to find. On occasion he made, and still makes, short visits to his home dimension to keep in touch with his siblings and few friends, but for the most part, he traveled from world to world. He eventually came to stop in the world containing Samastra. He stumbled across her during an outing her orphanage had arranged. The tot had stumbled and scraped her knee and, naturally, was in tears. Despite bearing no resemblance at all to his lost sister, she still reminded him of her, and he stopped to help the girl. One of the caretakers of the orphanage thanked him and briefly explained the girl's situation, and Krrt decided to adopt her.
Appearance
Krrt is of average height - just an inch or two short of being an even six feet. His skin is pleasantly tanned to a light golden shade the color of dark sand. It's the sort of shade one might expect to see on a surfer or the like. His hair is black and is rather straight, falling down to his shoulders. He has a tendency to keep it tied back in a ponytail when he's out on business, though he does prefer to keep it loose. His eyes are a brilliant shade of green that is most commonly associated with emeralds. He does sport a few scars here and there - reminders of the time spent between fleeing from his old home and finding his new one.

Pre-Hogwarts
Samastra's closest friend is another girl by the name of Karen Durstch. The two met shortly after Samastra and Krrt moved to Dublin and became fast friends. Krrt likes to say it'd take the jaws of life to even begin to pry the two apart. Karen is a somewhat submissive girl. She seems to have enough self-motivation to place herself in positions of power, but she's loathe to play the role of a leader. The girl is more than happy to let Samastra run the show, making small suggestions here and there and contributing to ideas Samastra has already come up with.

They are not the happy sort like Rune and Jaclyn, or the laid-back sort like Cyrus. They are snobby and cruel, and chances are they won't like your character. (Even if they do your character may not like them either. XP wink Keep in mind that their actions in no way reflect my feelings towards you or your characters. IC should be kept where it belongs - IC.
2) No, you may not purchase Samastra. >O She's my student, and mine alone. Visit the TWoHP main thread and wait for a sale or something, please.
3) No, you can't have her babies. I don't know if she'll even have any anyway. And if she does I'm only giving them to supah-awesome people. Asking automatically makes you unawesome. SO BUGGER OFF.

If I refer to a muggle fashion, I've found it by browsing around this site. Samastra would throw a fit if I made up designers and labels, though I'll have to do so for the wizarding fashions.
