My first photo in some swanky new clothes, taken just before I headed off to Hogwarts! Dal helped me with the dye job - probably because she thought I'd get in trouble.
Don't mind the expression: I'm just not a fan of dressing up for the sole pupose of snapping a photo.

Quick Description: Caye adopted her cat a few years ago, when one of the alley cats behind the bakery had kittens. She'd just seen Alice in Wonderland, and the fat little ball of fur reminded her of the cheshire cat at the time, hence his name which means "the smiling one." Basim has grown as wild as his keeper, both spending a lot of time running around London getting in and out of trouble. His ears are a little worse for wear, and one of his large yellow eyes is white and useless from a battle scar, but Caye loves him just the same. She dotes on the huge thing, which seems to be the only creature fast or brave enough to keep up with her. Bas has plenty of his own, feline adventures, but is devoted to his human and always delighted to follow her on one of her jaunts. A bit of an escape artist, this cat does not wear a collar nor travel in a carrier, no matter how many are tied around his neck or have the door locked with him inside. Caye isn't entirely sure what a familiar is, but she wouldn't dream of moving away from home without her hulking gray shadow.

History: Born in southern Algeria, moved to Paris with family when young. At twenty moved to London on her own, met and married husband, and opened up a French bakery which the family lives above.
Mum is at the top of this listing for a reason: she's queen of the house. I love her bunches, but they're seven kids plus Dad for her to take care of, so ruling with a flour-covered iron fist serves her well. She loves her bakery and no one, not even Ken who is practically her apprentice, will push her out of it. Not that any of us want to, but still. She loves us all and wants the best for us, but I know I'm a trial. Maybe I'll make something of myself at Hogwarts for her? Like a frog?

History: Born in Lancashire in northwestern England, moved to London after University because of a job offer. At twenty two met Fatin, fell in love with her and got married soon after. Continues to work at the same accounting firm that first hired him, doing rather well for himself and his family so that Fatin is free to run her bakery.
Dad is... well, dad. He's a mathy person, and very focused at work I guess, but outside of numbers his brain is really fickle about what it likes to focus on, if anthing. He's great for games and means well, so who cares if he comes off slightly loopy? He always sides with me or mum against Dalia, so he has to be good. And he really wants me to be a witch because it seems interesting. He always wants me to go find fun things, which is what I do - I especially love him for that.

Dal loves her family in that she'd miss them if they were gone, but is very much concerned with herself. She designs and makes her own clothes since she can't afford brand names, and does her best to stay looking pretty and poised. She particularly doesn't get along with her younger sister me, since I often gets her in trouble and think she's a selfish airhead. Dalia thinks I'm is useless and a complete embarrassment. She's is dating a boy in secret, and often sneaks out a night to see him since mum won't allow her to date until she goes to University. Dal and I have a love/hate relationship. I love to make her angry and she hates me for it. She wants to become the head of a fashion magazine. Or rule the world in stillettos.

approachable and jolly. He cares far more about the bakery than his
apperance, and so is usually smudged with flour.
Kendal is his mother's son. He has grown up by her side in the bakery far more than the rest of us, and he wants to run one some day, possibly Mum's. He helps her out as much as possible, and Mum often has to chase him out to get him to do his homework. When Ken isn't helping out in the bakery, he's generally looking after us kids, particularly the youngest three. To Ken, his family and home are everything, and he hopes to someday make a similar place in the world to be the father of. Ken's a sweetie, and unlike Dal, spends most of his time worrying about the rest of us kids instead of himself. He's going to be a dad someday. A great one. He does the most work at the bakery, and will probably take it over from Mum when he pries it out of her cold, dead hands.

prefer to dress in the makeshift hat and cape Caye made him, and not the
jeans and sweatshirt his mother dresses him in.
Amin looks up to me more than anyone else in the family because I always seems to enjoy life. He doesn't really copy me, though: while he does get in trouble because of the magic tricks he's constantly trying to perform and the messes they make, he is also very focused on his goal of learning to be a great magician in the tradition of Houdini. He has yet to hit upon a stage name, but he's working on it. He wishes he had doves to work with, but must settle for the fat pigeons that live on the roof of their house and can barely fly for all the stale goodies they get from the bakery. A sweet, amusing child, he's nervous around strangers and so stays away from the bakery when it's open, prefering to follow me around when I'm doing anything too far from home. Amin is my darling. He and I get along very well, being equally kookie and torturous to Dal. He wants to be a magician, but the modern, scientific, escape artist kind. He feels betrayed by me leaving him to go off to Hogwarts, but hopefully he'll get over it when I send him nifty things by post.

Aziza is the baby of the family, even though she technically has two younger brothers. She WANTS to be the baby of the family, and works hard to act and appear younger then she is. Still, underneath her fears about growing up and having to fend for herself, it is clear Azzy has inherited Mum's iron will and she will work for as long as it takes to get whatever it is she is striving for. She likes her Kendal best, as he spoils her and is happy to be her caretaker. Azzy is The Baby of the family, capital letters a must. As the Twins are too young to consciously claim this title, my little sister clings to it with all her might, and milks it for all she worth. A total mini drama queen, but fun!

...a little bit of background...
The third child of seven, I am used to looking after myself. Mum was born in southern Algeria and moved to Paris with her family when she was young. When she moved to London in search of work in her early twenties, she met my Dad, who turned out to be a chartered accountant and not a debonair spy, as he'd originally told the girl he was courting. This small deception aside, Dwight Creedle was a decent sort and the two of them were married and made a life together in London, Mum opening the bakery she'd always dreamed of. I have Mum's last name, as do all the children - both of our parents agreed that names like "Creedle" needed to be stopped and not used to curse children to years of torture by classmates. We all live in the flat above the bakery, and while we kids have a vague idea that Da is different from most people, no one ever really talked about why. A quick learner, I can speak French, English, and me mum's native Arabic and Berber. I've always been the wild child: doing things because they were fun first and thinking about the consequences last. I'm never malicious in my "jaunts" as I call my tearing about town, but that doesn't mean things don't go wrong and I avoid destruction of property. My older siblings have always been much more straight-laced than I am, and they think I'm a bad example for the younger kids.
Prior to the sudden appearance of my invitation to Hogwarts, no one in the family thought much about magic besides the next child down from me, and Amin is more interested in escaping from straightjackets than waving wands. Mum believed I should attend Hogwarts because I needed the discipline and chance to "re-channel my erratic behavior." Da believes that being a witch sounds cool and would be a more swanky job than accountancy. Dalia and Kendal were happy not to be responsible for me anymore, and the three below Amin weren't really paying attention at the time, although they will probably notice the house getting quieter when I'm gone, if only to fill up the noise gap. Amin continues to be suspicious about any magic that doesn't involve straightjackets expressly, and upset that his favorite sibling is going away.
I'm very excited to go to Hogwarts, as it sounds very different from what I'm used to, and always having to come up with new things is very tiring, so it's nice to have them handed to you for once. I'm not overly concerned with studies or how they will go - I'm just not a student-oriented kid, even though I'm fairly quick when I sit down and apply myself. I'll be a bit sad to leave my family, though I am looking forward to having my own bed. I don't really have any friends to miss, being the sort of adventurer that attracts hangers-on and outdistances them in the space of five minutes. I've never really had any one who could keep up with me, and I'm definitely the black sheep of the family, so have accidentally become a bit of a loner. Still, I'm a cheerful sort and will make friends if others don't mind putting up with my randomness and scrape-getting-into overly much. Unlike apparently every other child in my family, I don't really have a set plan for the future. As long as I get to enjoy myself, I'm happy. Enjoying myself generally means: running around; watching other London-ers live their lives; hopping random trains into the country and getting stuck; occasionally getting lost in France; rearranging all the encyclopedias in my school library so that their order was much more "aesthetic;" provoking noodle fights at lunch, both wet and dry; discovering the explosive joys of sodium and water; being the exacting bookie of all playground bets; and molding me mum's bread dough into a vast caravan of fencing donkeys. I'm a laughing, running thing that is happy with just about any non-normal occurrence and has a taste for the semi-reckless. As for consequences, I am generally happy to deal with them, being a jovial individual come what may. My slippery, distractible nature does tend to encourage me to try to slip out of boring punishments, though, so discipline against me can often pile up.

...My crucifix, that Mum gave to me and was her mum's before her. We're not Catholic, or much of anything else for that matter, but it's a gift from Mum and that's why I treasure it. I wear it all the time, and the only way it's coming off is if the chain breaks...

P-note: Any writing marked "p-note" and in this color are OOC comments by Perri. More little notes to myself than anything else, but I do use them occasionally.
Anything written in this color is IC by Caye. I'm trying to keep this journal as much in first person written by her as I can, so this color will pop up a lot.

RP Transcript...a quoted copy of an rp session Caye participated in with other students/guardians/teachers in another thread. I write Caye, other people write their own characters.
RP Session...an rp of Caye and others that actually takes place within the journal. This banner notes the beginning of such a session, and the post with the end peppers (see the bottom of this post) denotes the end.
