Student Description: Xilias is a small boy and is quite scrawny in build, but he doesn’t let that bother him. Deep brown hair, almost black in color is grown long and clasped at the back of his neck with a silver ornament with his family’s emblem engraved into it. Several stray pieces of hair which aren’t quite long enough to be gathered in the clasp fall around his face. Pale green eyes that are streaked with bits of brown are set upon a face with defined cheekbones and a rounded chine. A small nose is in the center not attracting any abnormal attention to itself.
Creamy hued skin with a touch of gold from a very slight tan is taken care of, except his hands show the work he had done in the orphanage. Small calluses have formed on his once smooth hands, but to him it proved the life he had gone through in his short 11 years of life. He carries himself proudly and is always standing tall, rarely does he ever slouch. One would think him a soldier if he weren’t so young with the way he stands. Stiff and rigid, he is much like a brick wall in both appearance and mindset.

Xilias's Background
Xilias was born in Britain and raised there for 6 years. During those six years he, his sister, who was born during their years as rogues, and his parents were on the run most of the time. His parents were Ex-Death Eaters who, after the fall of their master, fled in fear of being caught. During their time on the run Xilias was taught many different curses, using his mother or father’s wand as he practiced for purchasing him a wand at such a young age would arouse suspicion. They fled to a small quaint, muggle town and lived there for several years with little trouble but they were eventually found. Being torn from his parents at such a young age changed the boy drastically. Xilias and his sister Twila were placed in an orphanage for several years. During which time Xilias protected his sister from the harshness of muggle orphanages, giving her his share of food, and helping her with her chores when he could. A year later both Twila and Xilias were collected at the orphanage from their Aunt Lillian. They were unable to be taken to Germany because of their parent’s trials, but once the trials were over and their parents were found guilty and sent to Azkaban, their Aunt was free to take custody over her niece and Nephew.
After being taken to Germany the young wizard and witch prospered under their Aunts care. They later found out that what their parents had done in the past that got them in Azkaban was their own choice. Taking the mark of the darkest Lord to rise in the Wizarding World sealed their fate should their Dark Lord fall. At that point in age, even at 10, Xilias swore to never make such a mistake as his parents. The years of running in fear of Aurors, being torn apart form his parents and being thrown in an orphanage had greatly scarred Xilias. The boy only wished to prove himself to the Wizarding World that what they did to him and his sister was unjust and he knew the only way to prove himself was to grow in power. So when he attended a Wizarding school in Germany he engrossed himself in his studies but during a school wise dueling contest Xilias had allowed himself to cast a series of Dark Curses which were not accepted within the walls of that school. Xilias’s wand was snapped and he was expelled.
Lillian knew that there was nothing else that could be done than get Xilias a care keeper in Britain. Sending out notices to those she knew who lived in Britain there were several responses back, but none seemed more fitting than a young woman by the name of Kolina. Writing the woman back Lillian told her when the young boy would be sent to Britain but little did she know what Xilias’s reaction would be to the whole situation.
When told about the whole plan to have him attend a school called Hogwarts Xilias wasn’t too thrilled about the whole thing but was accepting, until he found out his aunt and sister would not be going with him. Xilias voiced his complaints, stating he did not want to leave his sister behind, that they belonged together. In his mind he had to protect her from the dangers of the world, he was her anchor to a life of normalcy, but if separated Twila would be forced to face the harsh world alone. He wanted his sister to keep her innocence and the only way to do that was to shield her. Sadly, none of his remarks and insults broke Lillian and he was forced to Britain to meet this strange woman called Kolina.
Kindness was not in Xilias when he met the woman. In fact, upon meeting her several nasty remarks were uttered from his lips. Instead of answering with her own snide remarks, Xilias was surprised that the woman only smiled and ushered him off to a muggle vehicle. He sneered at the thought of riding in such a thing but he had to admit, he found the experience entertaining. Gazing out the windows provided in the car he learned a lot of the surrounding area of where he would be living.
After receiving his wand Kolina contacted the Headmaster of Hogwarts. Upon receiving a reply they had received a date which Xilias would have to attend the school to take an exam to decipher which year he should be accepted into. Kolina and Xilias arrived at the school at their prearranged time and the Professors of Hogwarts had been assembled to give the young boy an exam in each of their specialized areas. After completing the tasks to the best of his ability the Headmaster had dismissed Kolina and Xilias. The two departed for their small house in Saffron Walden to await a reply.
The reply didn’t take long, in fact, it had arrived the following day with a large barn owl. Kolina and Xilias read through the paper and Xilias was not happy. He was being forced to repeat the first year over again! How could they do such a thing to him after all that work he had done in his previous school! He was not going to let this rest. The thought of being demoted festered in Xilias and he quickly began to loathe the school and the professors who have given him the tests, feeling as if they were incompetent to be teachers at a school. The Headmaster had also grown on Xilias’s listed of despised people. He knew the Headmaster could have overridden his Professors ruling if he wanted to! Surely he, Xilias, had proven he was better than a mere first year. Well he would show them, he’d prove that they had made a mistake and placed him in the wrong year. The first years at this school wouldn’t know what hit them once Xilias arrived.

Background: Kolina was born and raised in the America?s where she attended school in a tiny town not far from the Pennsylvania capital of Harrisburg. She prospered under the care and love of her parents whom were both squibs and very much enjoyed her life. When rather young she and her family had gone to visit relatives who lived in Britain. Kolina had enjoyed her stay with her Great Aunt and Uncle and never really forgot the wonderful trip to Europe. During her days at school she had become rather fascinated with music and how it was created so she enrolled in several music classes and had never been the same since. After being accept to college she decided to study music abroad and found herself once again in Britain.
Living in a quaint little town about an hour or two outside of London called Saffron Walden Kolina was captured by its subtle beauty and its kind inhabitants. After receiving her degree as a music educator she applied at a local school and was accepted as a vocal instructor. Teaching was a wonderful thing for her, she learned how to deal with children of all sorts of ages and attitudes. This was what led to a strange letter appearing at her window with a large owl. It had been quite a long time since she had seen any mail deleivered by the feathery creatures. The last time she had recieved one was her acceptance letter to Hogwarts.
Flashback
That was a surprise and a half for her parents but they had all decided together that Kolina would not attend the school like all other students. Instead she would be taught to basics so as not to loose control due to her emotions so easily.
The Headmaster hadn't been to pleased about the decision, that was for sure, but he agreed to teach the young girl enough so that she could control her magic. So Kolina attended Hogwarts in the evenings after her days in school and was taught by the several professors of Hogwarts including the Headmaster, Dumbledore. Within weeks Kolina knew enough to have a fair amount of control but she would have to visit the school at least 4 times a month to continue her lessons into further horizons.
Kolina and her parents did as they were asked. As Kolina attended school she would meet with the headmaster once a weekend to further her studies in magic. Kolina had grown quite attached to the prospect of using magic often but she had only learned enough to do the little things such as house work and folding clothes. Nothing too important, but it was still much more than her parents could do.
Leaving the wonderful memories of her childhood Kolina turned to the letter and began reading it.She was quite surprised with what the letter had stated. Never would she have believed the trauma that one child could go through. Not needing any time to think on the subject she had quickly set to work on writing a return letter and within weeks, had been asked to take care of young Xilias. Little did she know what kind of adventure she was getting herself into.
The young boy was quite rude to her at first, but she accepted it all with a warm smile and spoke to him soft and gently. After several days of this odd bantering of rude comments and sweet replies Kolina had begun to win the 12 year old over. After two weeks time Kolina noticed that Xilias was beginning to depend on her more and come to her when he needed help. It was a wonderful feeling and she was ready to continue that through his career at Hogwarts.
Personality: Kolina is usually a soft spoken woman, always watching out for her students and any other children who come her way. Children had always been her soft spot, but, unfortunately, she has yet to meet a man to settle down with and have children of her own. She isn't comlaining though. Having the children in her class to look out for was plenty enough for her, at least for now.
She can get VERY protective though and should anyone harm any of 'her' children she will be on their a** in a heartbeat. She isn't tolerant of any kind of abuse of a child so she isn't one to cross when it comes to those means. Besides her protective agression she is a very sweet person whose always glad to converse with anyone.

Breed: Northern Hawk Owl
Acquired: Fanchon was aquired before Xilias attended his school in Germany. His aunt purchased the owl so that communication with the boy would be easier seeing as she didn't trust school owls.
Personality: Fanchon is a very loyal bird , only taking to those his young master approves of. He had never failed to a deliver a message and pride himself in that, especially when a more incompetent bird is in the same vacinity as him. Perched on his master's shoulder he usually puffs his chest out and keeps weary yellow eyes on all that pass, not wanting anyone to harm the young boy.
