Welcome to the Bengali General Discussion! This is where we discuss everything related to the Bengali language, including, but not limited to:
-asking specific questions about Bengali vocabulary and grammar (people who can speak Bengali fluently can help answer others' questions)
-recommendations for Bengali dictionaries, websites, etc

Please note that although speaking in Bengali is allowed here, it is not mandatory.
Let's start off with a few facts about the Bengali language:
Spoken in: Bangladesh, the Indian state of West Bengal, southern Assam- also known as Barak Valley, and part of Tripura.
Total number of speakers: 230 million
Language Family: Indo-European, Indo-Iranian, Indo-Aryan, Eastern Group, Bengali-Assamese, Bengali
Regulated by: Bangla Academy (Bangladesh)
Paschimbanga Bangla Akademi (West Bengal)
