On Sept. 21, and as reported by local press outlets, a Full Sail student by the name of Conrad Troha was the victim of an attempted robbery off campus on Driggs Drive. The student was shot, but the injuries are not considered life-threatening. The student was visited by a Full Sail administration member last night at the hospital and Conrad was alert and communicative.
Also, as reported by the press and through communications with local law enforcement, two men were arrested soon after the incident yesterday and they are facing charges of attempted first-degree murder. We greatly appreciate and commend the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for their prompt action.
We are in close communication with local law enforcement regarding their assessment of what occurred off campus yesterday on Driggs Drive and at two other locations. The other incidents, which were reported as attempted robberies, and both of a different nature, are under investigation by law enforcement. Our primary concern is for the health and full recovery of Conrad who was injured in yesterday’s incident, anybody who was involved in the other incidents, and the safety and welfare of all our students and staff.
Full Sail University is constantly in communication with other local colleges and universities, neighboring apartment complexes, as well as law enforcement agencies, in order to inform and create awareness for our students and staff on ways to conduct themselves when away from the University. We have always been committed to maintaining a safe campus environment and Full Sail has very few incidents that occur on our campus.
Our heartfelt well wishes go out to Conrad for a speedy recovery, his family, and anyone else adversely affected by yesterday’s events.
