The room is dimly lit, various creatures milling about as they wait for the start bell. Strangers come together in the hopes of finding love in a fast-paced world, enticed inward by a poster around the bakery: SPEED DATING!
Find your love on a time limit!
Only $5 a head! You are among the waiting men, eyeing the set up with uncertainly: each person will get a brief encounter with the lovely ladies, and will have to make the most of their time. At the end, they write on their cards who best impressed them, and might just leave their numbers. ...but there is one girl, a flan in a striped scarf, who catches your eye in particular. You look at her, and then to the rest of the waiting men around you, and realize she is the only one you care to impress. The lights flicker once, twice, and you realize it's time to take your place. As you settle across from her, she smiles and raises a mocking eyebrow, then waits patiently. She's waiting for you to introduce yourself. What do you say? Stammer, blushing, and find it hard to get the right words out, your name twisting on your tongue.
Leer at her and say something suggestive and confident.
Offer an awkward but hopefully endearing compliment, followed by your name.
Stiffly give a proper introduction: your full name, and ask for hers at the end.
Stare at her in wide-eyed horror and wait for her to give her reply first. ((OOC NOTE: This round will last for two days, until 11:59pm EST on the 17th. There will be no eliminations, but each answer each round is worth a certain number of points, and at the end the person with the most points wins. There are five rounds total: some will be two days, some will only be one, and you will be expected to answer promptly! RPing out your reply can give you additional points in the round, but you by no means have to! Now GO FOR IT!))

"That's a really lovely scarf you have on there. It matches your eyes beautifully," I say, offering the flan the most confident smile I can, although what I hoped was confidence was mostly nervousness and the smile ended up being a little on the shy/cheesy side.
"Oh! I forgot to introduce myself, heh. Sorry... I'm not really used to these things," I said offering her my name.

Fox walked in and sat in front of the beautiful flan. "Hey there, babe," he wags his brows a little while openly admiring her gleaming coat and bright eyes. "What do you say - shall we head out to this place I know with a much more tasteful set up? It is less crowded, to be sure." His eyes roamed a little, wondering what that scarf might be hiding.

This is not off to a good start. I give her my name, but glumly suspect it is merely a formality in my short journey to being unceremoniously ejected from the presence of the most beautiful lady I have ever met - coordinator. That should have been the word. Coordinator, dammit.

It was all a bit too much. Looking around August took it all in. This so-called speed date was utterly intimidating. It was time to be seated and he took a seat in front of the most mesmerizing eyes he had ever laid his eyes on. He stared for a moment too long then realized there time had started. "I'm Augustus. You are?"
He wanted to say more, or at least something a bit more charming but only those few stiff words had escaped his mouth. Mentally he slapped himself, ten seconds in and he already blew it.

You're unsure of your reply to her, but she seems to take it pretty well; a fluttery little laugh escapes from her lips before she offers you her own name, and it seems that she thinks you joking. Oh well, that's probably for the best. Starting off with a joke is the best way to go. With a toss of her head that sends bangs back out of her eyes, and a raised eyebrow, she circles her way around to the next question. She tells you about how much she likes trekking out in steep snow drifts, and then asks what some of your favorite hobbies are. What do you tell her? You enjoy nothing more than a quiet night at home with close friends.

You love camping in the woods and living off the land.

*laughs softly and tosses hair back* "I really enjoy a nice long walk up steep snow drifts. And what are your favorite things to do?"

Augustus' heart skipped a beat at the female's laugh. She was inspiring. After listening to her brief tell of hobbies, he answered with his own. "I'm an artist. I dabble in different medias but my true love is sculpture. I find nature most inspirational indeed."
He smiled at her, the passion for his artwork lighting up his eyes. His thoughts began to drift just for a moment. He thought about the two of them on a date, far away from this bakery, climbing a mountain...

T-trekking out in steep snow drifts?! Could she be any more attractive - or more-too-cool for the likes of a pasty nerd? But - no - she hasn't kicked me out yet, I'm not going to let that happen now. Quick, quick, she's smiling encouragingly, think of something - what would a girl who loves trekking out in steep snow drifts like?! Like the proverbial fool, I take a deep breath and rush in: "I spend all my time outdoors - being one with the wild." I can feel her gaze flicker across my fish-belly-pale skin and hastily amend, "- at night! Because nature is so beautiful in the dark, with...the moon, and stars...and...fireflies..." I falter as my limited reserve of knowledge about the great outdoors starts to peter out, and press on to conclude with, "So I camp out in the woods at night. I live off the land. In a tent."
As an OOC note - I am obviously so dead. XD;;

A fluttery laugh escapes from the flan's lips, before she tells me her name. I think she thought I was joking. But never mind, joke's are probably also a good way to start.
She tosses her head back, sending the bangs out of her eyes. "One of the things I like to do is to trek out in steep, snow drifts." She raises an eyebrow. "What are some of your favorite hobbies?" she asks.
Trekking out in steep snow drifts?! All I can think of right now is wow.
"My favorite hobbies?" I say. "Well, I guess spending time with my close friends at home is one."
