It sounds like a great idea- but if I were you I'd talk to some psychologists about the stages of grief- because they don't always present like that.

I love all of the imagery, but there have been some really good comments about character naming conventions. Sometimes picking a name that's just a name is better than trying to shoehorn in meaning.

I love the idea, I think it would go over real well. Good luck with it.

That's a really good idea. I'll have to network around to find someone to help.

That is true, and how I came up with the name for Kevin. I like symbolic attachment in names, but a few "this just works" simple names might work for other characters. Good suggestion though.

Thanks. It's a work in progress to be for sure.

Thank you both for your feedback.

Hmm, it certainly is an interesting idea and a different perspective.

Although I agree with Esiris on names. Something can feel more realistic with names just being names and having no special meaning. Or if you really want them to have meaning, make it subtle and obscure. Having it blunt doesn't make the characters feel as real. Especially stuff like "Dr. Arzt". I speak German so to me it's essentially Doctor Doctor, which is weird. I don't mean for this to be offensive, but it kind of reminds me of Nick Jr. cartoons that have all the characters names being what they are ((Ex. Little Bear)).

I'm also curious as to how she seems consciously aware of situations/etc after becoming a zombie. I'm assuming you're taking a new perspectives on zombies. ((Although I must say be careful/prepared. I've seen people get very defensive over things they love and tend to not take changes very well. For instance zombies, I've seen quite a few arguments between fans saying "zombies can't/don't do that!" and yadda yadda. So hardcore fans might criticize harshly.)) If this is the case, I'd try showing how other zombies have this consciousness too. Because by your description Leah ((And at the end Sara)) seem to be the only ones that are aware, while the rest are the typical mindless zombies. Like for instance when Leah is leading a group of zombies to go after Kevin and Sara in the parking lot. Why are these zombies listening to her? How did she get them to follow her orders? If all the zombies can think for themselves I find it hard to believe that they'd just listen to anyone, or even get along with other zombies and not trying to eat/"kill" each other. After all in the description Leah felt empowered by her new found strength and freedom and not fearing to take that power out on people. I don't see why it'd stop her from unleashing on another zombie as well. That kind of power I'm assuming some ((if not Leah)) would have a drug like affect, thinking no one can stop them.
Plus, now I'm not a zombie expert so I could be wrong, but how did Leah get infected? From what I remember a person needed to be bitten or have the disease enter their blood system. And if it's an airborne disease how did Sara and/or the hospital staff not get infected?
