LOCK ME UP AND BURY ME

Name: Yao Niang Qui'lai (pronounced Chi-lie)
Nickname(s): Yao
Age: 14
Sex: Female
Birthday: December 7th
Zodiac Sign: Sagittarius
Gemstone: Onyx
Origin: Born in Xi'an, China and raised in the states, Celeste is the latest in a long line of moves for her family.
Bloodtype: A+
Height: 4'8
Bodytype: She's small, but she has slight curves so she doesn't look like a boy. Skin color is "light" by this chart
Hair: Medium length, stick straight, black with blue highlights.
Eyes: Minus the makeup, color is turquise
Fashion: Semi-cutesy things, nothing too revealing. Here are a few more examples. Her favorite colors to wear are black, white, red, turquoise, and occasionally, purple. A few ways she likes to wear feathers. Her favorite shoes are flat, ballet style shoes, usually black and sometimes they have ribbons encasing her calves. A more permanent part of her attire is her very favorite purse: a backpack style coffin with a bat on it.

Personality Traits
  • [+]Book Smart
    She hates to feel behind in anything, so while her family has moved around a lot, causing her to change schools fairly often Yao uses most of her spare time reading up on what her new classes have been studying so she's not lost. Most everything comes easy to her so studying is not a hardship. Her grades up to this point have been straight A's and she's quite proud of this fact. She will occasionally get B's on some assignments, but this doesn't cause her to freak out anymore. C's are an even rarer appearance though they mainly show up in her least favorite subject, English. A C will usually have her stuffing the assignment far, far, far into her backpack for a day or so before she pulls it back out and gets to work on learning what she didn't understand before.
  • [+]Observant
    She has a nearly perfect memory for her surroundings and the things that interest her most and can remember exactly when or where she's seen something or someone before. This usually comes in handy when she's deep in conversation about comic books and can recall a line or character from a specific issue. This also comes in handy when she's searching for something she's lost.
  • [+]Neat
    She keeps everything she owns organized and does not tolerate messiness in anything she does. All of her comic books are organized first alphabetically by title, then numerically by issue number. She keeps her closet separated by type of clothing, then by color. Her little brother calls her OCD, but she's not quite that bad. Yet.
  • [+]Disciplined
    Due to her need to know what's going on, Yao has disciplined herself in almost every aspect of her life. Her parents never have to tell her to stop playing games so she can study and occasionally they have to force her away from her studies to just take a break. Her martial arts training has helped her do this, as well. She likes to have every minute of her day planned out and will almost never deviate from her schedule.
  • [+/-]Innocent
    Though she knows the world isn't all sugar and gumdrops, she doesn't really know what's out there that has the potential to destroy life as she knows it. So far the worst thing to have happened in her life time is, as she puts it, "The Great Move Monster." Even before she was born, her parents moved around a lot. So far, Yao hasn't come across anything truly evil, but she can usually feel when something's about to go wrong, like a gut feeling. At the same time, she's so young and ignorant of things that people tend to think she's cute. Which...kinda pisses her off, to be honest.
  • [-]Sarcastic
    She always had a smart mouth, but the numerous moves in her life made it worse until at fourteen, most of what comes out of her mouth is snark and attitude. It's very rare that something truthful or plainly said will come out her mouth and when it does, it's usually regarded as something sarcastic anyway.
  • [-]Suspicious
    As a young child, she made friends easily and didn't have a problem trusting others. But after the first few moves that separated her from friends, Yao's ability to trust began to disintegrate to almost nothing. As it stands, she is suspicious of everything and wants to know the motive behind anything and everything.
  • [-]Perfectionist
    She wants a perfect life and since she can't have that, she wants perfection in everything she can control. She always strives for perfect grades in school, and her organization systems are perfected constantly. She has come to hate change, but in a way has accepted it as part of her life. She keeps boxes in the back of her closet labelled just the way she wants them in case there's a move sprung on her again.
  • [-]Pessimistic
    Again due to the many moves and the disintegration of her trust, Yao has a habit of seeing the negative side of everything, and hardly ever sees the positive. For her, the glass is always half-empty.

Hobbies
  • Origami
    Despite the fact that this has nothing to do with her heritage, Yao loves to make creatures out of paper. She finds the whole process to be calming and usually keeps a small stack of paper in her purse.
  • Architecture
    More of an interest, Yao likes the mathematics and symmetry present in buildings. She likes to find out what certain aspects are called and how buildings are put together.
  • Martial Arts
    She's been in martial arts since she was a very small child and though it took her a little longer to earn it due to her family re-locating so often, Yao has two black belts: one in Muay Thai and one in Aikido.
  • Comic Books
    Specifically Batman, but she does enjoy some Iron man and Captain America, too. She likes to be able to lose herself in a made up world with made up problems and villains. These are her escape from reality when she gets upset. One or two of these can usually be found in her purse, as well.

Favourite Food: Anything not Chinese food
Least Favourite Food: Chinese food.
spacespaceReason for this: Her mother, in an attempt to educate her children about at least PART of their heritage, cooks Chinese food. Every. Single. Night.

Family
  • Mother || Mei Xing Qui'lai (maiden: Ng)
    While she doesn't like moving as often as they do, she tries to make the best of things. She wants her children to know more about their heritage but since they're both too busy doing other things, she settles for teaching them at dinner through the food she cooks.
  • Father || Zhong Qui'lai
    The driving force behind all the moves in the family, he knows it's hard on his family but he believes that each move will be the best for them. He plans on Celeste being their last move, believing the city to be a good place to finally settle the family down.
  • Younger Brother || Yun-qi Qui'lai
    Completely the opposite of his sister, Yun-qi is popular in school, plays sports, and doesn't much care for studying. He never fails his classes, but he never really makes A's like his sister either.

School: Celeste High School
Grade: 9th
Favourite Subject: Math
Least Favourite Subject: English

Powered Form
Senshi Name: Sailor Chang Sha, Senshi of Coffins
Name: Yao Niang Qui'lai
Power Source: Coffins
Alignment: Good (possibly dark later, though)

Base Color: Black
Accent Color One: White
Accent Color Two: Turquoise

Sailor Collar: Short, almost like the collar of a button-down shirt, black with one white stripe and one turquoise stripe.
Bodice: Cheongsam style with the sailor collar taking place of the stiff collar, leaving her neck open. Black with white trim.
Sleeves: No sleeves, see cheongsam ref.
Gloves: Elbow length, covers part of her hands leaving the pinky and thumb bare and attaching around the three middle fingers. Black with white trim.
Bottoms: General sailor skirt type, black with with and turquoise trim. Black tights. (Future fukus will get closer to being a full cheongsam type dress)
Shoes: Black ballet flats with turquoise ribbons encasing her calves.
Accessories: Black feather earrings, white ribbons holding her hair up in two buns with black and turquoise feathers framing it.
Choker: White silk, with a small black and white coffin charm dangling from it and turquoise feathers behind it.

Weapon: Fighting fan. It's re-inforced with steel and has a razor sharp edge. It's fairly heavy, so bludgeoning is a good option! The fan itself is white with black ravens in flight spreading over the width. There is also a length of black leather attached with white and turquoise feathers at the end to make it easy to spin in the air and make a moving attack. When it's closed there's a loop that comes out to hang the fan from her wrist or a loop on her skirt.

Normal Senshi Transformation Call: Chang Sha Power, Make-up!
Super Senshi Transformation Call: Chang Sha Star Power, Make-Up!
Eternal Senshi Transformation Call: Chang Sha Eternal, Make-up!

Normal Senshi Attack
  • Name || Shadow Coffin
  • Type || Offensive
  • What it does || Wraps the target in shadows and takes away access to air.
  • Time Limit || 30 seconds
  • Use Limit || 3 times
  • Cooldown || 1 minutes
  • Weakness || If target can draw a full breath, one hard blow will make the shadows begin to dissipate, allowing air to get through. Also weaker in direct sunlight.

Super Senshi Attack:
  • Name || Coffin's Embrace
  • Type || Offensive
  • What it does || Wraps the target in shadows more solid than her first attack and muffles everything. It will get harder to breathe, hear, focus, etc.
  • Time Limit || 20 seconds
  • Use Limit || 2 times
  • Cooldown || 2 minutes
  • Weakness || Just like the sound of bells meant that the body below the earth was still alive, the same sound (or the modern equivalent, a cellphone ringtone) will weaken and even completely break the coffin.

Eternal Senshi Attack:
  • Name || Meet the Maiden
  • Type || Offensive
  • What it does || Encases the target in an iron-like substance with sharp spikes on the inside (very like an Iron Maiden torture device). Depending on Chang Sha's energy level, spikes can be longer or shorter.
  • Time Limit || 15 seconds
  • Use Limit || 2 times
  • Cooldown || 5 minutes (can be longer depending on her energy level, will never be shorter than this)
  • Weakness || Not as strong as iron, can be broken from the outside by an ally of the target.

Questions: Chang Sha is awakening a good bit later than the rest of the Corvian senshi. Is there a reason for this? Does this reflect Chang Sha's connection to the court in the past? Or is this simply an event of their present lives? If you have any plot ideas concerning this, be they for the past, present, or both, say so!
Yao's habit of internalizing her stress at the constant moves of her family impeded her awakening into Chang Sha. Because of this, she will not feel quite as close to the rest in the beginning, but the longer she stays with them and the more she can see them as her allies, then the easier she will feel with them until she's completely comfortable with them.
In her past, Chang Sha's late awakening had the same effect: suspiciousness at first of her fellow Corvians, but in the past she was never quite able to bring herself to trust them completely.
A possible future plot is someone in the Court betrays her (or at least Chang Sha believes it's a betrayal) and she begins to turn to the dark side (though never completely) until the truth comes out to her.
Past plot of the same vein would be she's betrayed and either it's a true betrayal or something someone wanted her to believe and she does turn to the dark side completely.

Prompt!

So it happened. Somehow. The Sailor Scout, Super Sailor Corvus found you. Be the meeting good or bad, she's convinced--or perhaps bribed?--you to attend at least a single meeting with the other members of the court. This is the only reason you now stand in the loft of Terra Traverse, with the other members of the Corvian Court arranged somewhat before you. All in powered forms. Guardians, Knights, Senshi... in a bookstore.

Is this.... a good thing? Bad? The range of ages and personalities before you, does this intrigue you? Or frighten you? What about the spheres? Omens? Smoke? Suffocation? Coffins?! They say they want to help you out, they say they welcome you to the team, to the court...

But Chang Sha, do you even want to be here?

Chang Sha. That was her. And she was standing in the loft of a bookstore she'd wandered into earlier staring at people like her. Well. Most of them were people. There were also a few birds. Ravens, to be perfectly specific. And she found that right about now, when she felt like she was going insane, she needed to be perfectly specific. Her turquoise eyes scanned all of the people before her. They were mostly guys, but there were a couple girls, too. There didn't seem to be any kind of...connecting trait between them, except for the feathers they all wore in some way or another. Reaching up, she touched feathers at her throat. Oh, right. She was supposedly part of their...what had Corvus called it? A Court? Ah, yes. Super Sailor Corvus.

She'd always had trouble trusting other people, but there had been something about Corvus that made Yao believe her. Which had brought her here. Yep. Now her thoughts had come full-circle. Sort of. Pressing her hand to her face she wondered how long until she woke up in a nice white padded room.

"Are you alright?" Chang Sha looked up, but she didn't catch who spoke.

"I'm fine," she murmured and frowned, looking at them, but really looking at them this time. This whole thing was crazy, but at the same time it was very....comic-book-esque. In fact, she could name several characters from her favorite series just by looking at some of them, others she needed a bit more of their personality, but she could still see the people who had mostly kept her company her whole life. She saw Alfred, Robin, the Huntress, hell even a couple villains in their midst. This was what intrigued her most. It was as if her whole life had been preparing for this. Her own interests in martial arts had caused her to practically idolize Lady Shiva.

She would have her own Bat-family. Okay, now that made her giggle. But rather than actually giggle, she confined herself to a snort and a cough to cover it up.

To keep herself from cracking up, both in laughter and in her mind, she focused on their uh. Spheres? Whatever they called it, the sources of their powers. Some of them were just downright creepy. Omens? Smoke? Suffocation? Even her own was fairly macabre. Coffins. She derived her power from...coffins. Well. She did like coffins, she thought of her favorite backpack, a little coffin shapped thing with a bat on it. She'd bought it to piss her mother off, but had grown quite fond of the little thing. If she had known she would one day be....this. Well. She'd probably still have bought the purse.

Well. Here went nothing.

"I'm in," she said more confidently than she felt. The weight of her fan pulled on her wrist and made her feel more grounded than she had. It was almost like the universe had settled around her, telling her this was what she was born for.
