This was one of my first poems, so go easy on me razz
In The Clearing
Through the forest
dark and green
with winding paths and things unseen,
the animals, they scurried by
with noises only I could hear.
The stream that was running by
flowed downward
and all I could hear
was the soft rushing of water
and rusteling of leaves in the breeze.
As the path kept winding onword,
with trees growing all around me,
and all above me in an arch
I suddenly stumbled on a clearing.
It was large, unkept, and round
the perfect spot that I had found,
so I put my pack upon the ground
and set out what I was to do.
I laied things out nice and gently,
formed my circle perfectly,
and looked up at the sky above,
to find that now the time had stopped.
I sang my song
with words of praise,
and danced along until I fell,
and found that as I looked around
the air was glowing purple.
The animals had gathered here
to watch me as I danced with glee,
and so as I started to put things away,
I couldn't help but smile.
The animals are all gone now,
although they are in the shadows,
the only trace of my presence,
a small circle of trampled grass.
And so I left the clearing now,
the sacred space that was mne forever,
I walked along the winding path
knowing that I'd be back.
