Name: Aeronwen Bleddyn

Nickname: Aero, only to people who she knows well.

Age: 15

Birthday: 1/19

Sign: Capricorn

Gemstone: Garnet

Blood Type: B-

Fav. Food: Sweets. Any kind of sweets.

Hated Food: Vegetables

School: Crystal Academy

Hobbies:
Collecting Dolls - Since she was a child, the collecting of dolls has been a kind of security blanket. She always felt that even though she couldn't see them that they were looking out for her. She keeps collecting the dolls partly out of habit now, but partly because she keeps make more and more clothing for them. Though she can't see them, she can feel the hair and clothes and know exactly which doll she's touching. Currently her collection is at a minimum since she doesn't have a job and cannot buy more of them. She lost the majority of her doll collection when her house burned, and since then she tends to keep the collection small. Her grandmother had bought her a few when she moved in with her, and after that it was one or two a year on her birthday and Christmas. She likes smaller dolls better, mostly because they're easier to pack and move. Her foster parents have bought her a few dolls, but as she gets older they've started to buy her other things instead to try and get her interested in a larger variety of things.

Sewing - She can't see, but she can feel the fabric. Her very first home economics teacher in middle school taught her how to use her sense of touch to gauge what she needed to sew. Since then, she's sewn dozens of outfits for her dolls and wants to try sewing a dress for herself. If she can pull that off, she wants to create clothing that she can sell. She had an interest in sewing before her middle school teacher, but it was the teacher that helped her figure out how best to work it around her blindness. She sews pretty much whenever she has a chance to, which is fairly often.

Swimming - She finds being in water relaxing. She doesn't know exactly why, but she's always been attracted to the water. Whether it's cold or hot, she loves it all. It's why she prefers to take baths instead of showers and will go swimming any chance she can get. She does, however, prefer to be alone when she swims, and prefers to be somewhere that isn't crowded and is not populated by children. Her grandmother had a pool, and so do her foster parents.

Virtues:
Self-Reliant - Through her experiences, she's found that it's much easier and less disappointing if she depends only on herself. She takes care of herself and the things she cares about. She doesn't think about the welfare of others unless she can use them like puppets tied to a string. To her, it is every man for himself. In every foster home she's been put in, she's ended up doing most of her own parenting. She's looking forward to her eighteenth birthday when she can find a place of her own. She's not so much disillusioned as (not so?) secretly afraid of losing anyone she gets close to. The loss of her parents when she was young hit her hard and the feeling of losing pretty much everything made a huge impression on her. She is capable of forming non-manipulative relationships, they just don't happen often. These people are usually the ones she's "collected," which means they've either done something for her, or done something in general that she liked. She tries not to actually care about anyone, and will resist as long as she can. People she cannot manipulate are people she is extremely careful around. The Abrams are the only foster family she's been with. She likes them, in her way, meaning she's as comfortable there as she wants to be. If she leaves them, then the next family might be worse. At this point in time there is no one she actually wants to be around and she doesn't ever plan for this to be a thing. However, I'd like for her to form better relationships as she grows, with her court members and allies. When she's in a situation where she can't do anything on her own, she tends to get an attitude and will likely snap at anyone who speaks to her. It's very unlikely that she'll ever ask for help. She'd rather do without than ask for someone's help. As a child she would try to form friendships but the few she did manage to form ended up breaking for one reason or another. Because she hates to be let down, if anyone were ever to expect something of her then she would do her best to not let them down. Due to her aversion of relationships, this rarely happens. She does tend to hold herself to a higher standard, believing that if she holds others to the same standard she will only be let down.

Loyal - Aeronwen can be as fierce as a wolf mother when someone she cares about is in danger. Though there aren't many people that fall under that heading for her, there is nothing she wouldn't do for them. Now that she's been moved to Celeste, her list has become empty and she is also a little warier of who she lets on the list. There have been, and I'm sure will be, people who make the list without Aero even noticing it. Her loyalty has never been something she's had to think about.. It's an instant reaction and she has very little control over it. This loyalty doesn't always have to be a life or death kind of thing. If she's with a friend and someone picks a fight, she'll always be on the side of her friend even if she thinks they're wrong. Later she'll talk to them about it, but it's always in private, never in public. The list didn't exist before she moved. She moved after the fire, and before that she was a normal child. Her grandmother tried to get her to stay in touch with the friends she'd had before she moved, and she sent a few letters and emails. One or two of her friends kept it up for a couple months, but then communication dropped off and Aeronwen became even more closed off than before. She seems to have "levels" of loyalty. For people on the lower levels she'd risk little. People on the mid-levels, like allies, she'd risk more. People in the higher levels, like her courtmates, she'd risk a lot more. The highest level is reserved for people she is unquestioningly loyal to. For people on this level, she'd risk everything. Chances are, the only person on that level would be her knight. Generally to gain her loyalty, there has to be a reason. They've done something for her or something she likes, or they've allied themselves to her court. Her courtmates automatically get a low level of trust in the beginning, and depending on how loyal they show themselves to be to her they can move up in level. (The same general principles apply to any friends she may make.) The criteria for gaining her loyalty change frequently. She doesn't have set reasons, it's just sort of a spontaneous thing. Oh, yes. Betraying her or breaking a promise made to her are a couple ways to lose her loyalty. She may reconsider if there was no other option for the person, but it's rare that they'll get her loyalty again.

Adaptable - Since the accident that took her parents, Aero has learned how to adapt to her surroundings. Too often in the foster homes she's been in, the blind girl became the instant and seemingly easier target. At first, Aero allowed it to happen and just took whatever came at her because she still didn't understand that her parents and grandmother were gone, she thought they would come rescue her. When more time passed and she understood they were gone for good, Aero taught herself to be more aware of her surroundings. Since then, she adapts fairly easily to new environments, though adapting to new people is still an effort. Generally she takes stock of her surroundings and the people she may be with and goes from there. She may change the way she speaks, the tone she uses, the words. Situations where she may be the center of attention are particularly uncomfortable for her and hard for her to adapt to. Situations where things are constantly changing are also hard for her to adapt to. Crowds and tight spaces tend to make her anxious and she won't be able to adapt. Her solution is to get away from those situations as quickly as possible, preferably somewhere she can be alone and can get her bearings again. As of this moment, she is most comfortable in her room at her foster parent's home. As long as Colby doesn't bother her, which has been known to happen. In a new place, if she's allowed to take her time and have things as she wants them, then she gets her bearings a little quicker. In everyday life, it may take her a moment to figure out where she is unless it's somewhere she goes a lot, like school.

Flaws:
Selfish - Her general mindset is thinking about who or what can benefit her. She's not above using people to get what she wants, and it's highly unlikely she'll feel any kind of remorse about it. She, however, hates being used. Generally the people she's 'collected' won't be people she uses, but it's not unheard of for her. If she does use someone she's collected, she *might* feel remorseful, but it's always for a justified reason in her mind. If the person means nothing or next to nothing to her then she'll go pretty far. Depending on how she feels about the person is how far she'll go. Most likely the only person she would never use would be her Knight, as that would be the one bond that she would honor above all else. She doesn't really care about causing damage to other people, and sort of sees it as collateral. So far she hasn't really been caught, except for her foster parents catching her using her foster brother Colby in various ways (for example, attempting to blackmail him into taking her places). She acts like she's repentent for doing so, but she's really not. It only serves as an experience and for her to be more careful in the future. She doesn't like to share. She used to, as a child, but so often her things would be returned messed up or broken that she keeps her things to herself.

Private - She hates talking about herself and will never do so if she doesn't absolutely have to. She doesn't want anyone to get too close to her, partly for fear of something happening to take them away from her and partly because she's afraid that any information she gives out will be used against her later. She's wary about people asking personal questions of her and will always ask why they want to know. The only exception to her private tendencies would likely be her Knight. She might open up to courtmates or allies, depending on how she feels about them. She will only ever open up about herself to people she feels are the closest to her, and even then she doesn't say much. People on her list aren't neccessarily close enough for her to open up, but the people she would open up to are on her list, if that makes sense. She has very little interest in pursuing relationships. Outwardly she acts like she just doesn't care for the closeness, but honestly it's because she's afraid of losing them to some natural or not-so-natural disaster. This is where she gets just a little paranoid. Obviously the major information about her is that she's also a leader senshi, so she doesn't want that getting out. But she also doesn't like to give out personal information because she feels even something small can be used against her, though if asked for specific reasons she doesn't have any. Generally she resists (mostly) politely for as long as she can but if they still persist she will get annoyed and tell them she prefers to be left alone.

Childish - Because of how young she is, she can still be a little immature. If things don't go her way, she will get upset about it. When she's upset, she'll likely act out and do things against the person or persons who angered her. This doesn't always mean a temper tantrum, but it's not impossible. Usually it's things like refusing to help when asked, doing exactly the opposite of what is asked of her, or just outright ignoring the person. This has gotten her in trouble before, her anger and childishness putting her in situations she wouldn't otherwise put herself in. Things that upset her include being told no, or having one of her dolls taken away, people acting like she's defective and can't care for herself just because she's blind. She wants to be able to fend for herself and to do what she wants, when she wants. The needs of others don't really mean anything to her, nor do damaged relationships unless the damage caused messes things up for her. She'll be sorry about it for a while, but will usually find another way to do things. If she doesn't, then she'll make a show of being sorry to mend the relationship, but that's all it is. At school, she tries not to bring attention to herself, but there have been one or two times she's gotten in trouble for not doing as she was asked. She already knows this behavior is unacceptable, and she is trying to become more of an adult, but she still slips. Her grandmother used to scold her often for being childish and this is one of the reasons she's trying to "grow up." With her foster parents, if one of them scolds her for being childish she tends to act petulant, but will keep it in mind for future reference and try harder to avoid being childish. If someone outside her "family" does it, she'll get tense and stop whatever it is she was doing and probably walk away.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Wide, round, milky white and blind. (See ref) If she weren't blind, her eyes would be violet, so there's a slight violet tinge to her eyes.

Hair: Her hair is shorter in the back and slightly longer in the front, straight, and white. (See ref)

Face: Heart shaped, small ears, small nose. Slightly pouty mouth.

Clothes: I know she only gets drawn in her school uniform, but this is just to show her style.
  • Main Ref: Used for hair, skin, eyes, and an example of the kind of fashion she likes to wear, though she is usually found in something simpler. (Art by Chocorette)
  • Dresses. Not skirts if she can help it. Dresses. And usually long dresses with long sleeves. She prefers for her hands to be covered at least halfway. If this cannot be achieved by the dress itself, she has a few pairs of arm warmers that do the job. Polyvore references! As for shoes, she prefers boots of some kind. Ankle boots, knee-high boots, even thigh-highs if her dress is short. Her only real requirement is a soft heel (soft as in it makes very little noise when she walks.) Examples are the one in the main ref and these.
  • Colors are usually dull browns with the occasional red. See her palettes: Dull & Bright

Senshi: Sailor Hi'iaka Senshi of Angel Trumpets

Challenge: Let me blow my trumpets for you...

Fuku Colour:
Main Color: White
Secondary Color: Pale Pink

Fuku:

Collar -- White, with a dark red stripe
Bow -- Small dark red bow on the front, large dark red bow at the back with long tails
Bodice -- Swimsuit type. White unless I can get her as corrupted, in which case black.
Sleeves -- Sleeveless
Brooch -- Round, pink
Bottoms -- Knee length fluffy skirt, white at the top and bleeding into pale pink
Tiara -- Tiara of grass and flowers, with small white and pink Angel Trumpets decorating the sides.
Choker -- Classic choker, white. Small pink jewel in the center.
Shoes -- Knee high pink boots with white tops.
Gloves -- Opera length white gloves, bleeding into pink at the fingers.
Accessories -- Small pink pouch of powdered angel trumpets at her hip hanging from a white ribbon across her chest.

Attacks:

Sailor Scout Attack: Angel Dream
Hi'iaka blows a bit of her powdered flowers in the direction of her opponent. It causes her opponent to see an ally of theirs instead of her so they won't attack. This lasts for about 10 seconds, at which point the hallucination wears off. This is pretty much a distraction to give her a chance to run away, though she could use it to give her allies a chance to mount an attack. If somehow one of her allies is caught in the crossfire of her attack, then they'll view their opponent as an ally and possibly mess up any possible attack on them unless they're restrained for the duration. Also, seeing as Hi'iaka is blind, she can only gauge her opponent's location with her other senses. It's entirely possible for her to miss completely or hit an ally by mistake.

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Angel Nightmare
Hi'iaka blows a bit of her powdered flowers in the direction of her opponent. This time instead of seeing an ally, her target will hallucinate something they fear. This could be a horde of spiders, a hive of bees, or anything the character fears. If they don't have any major fears, they'll see a youma. This lasts for about 15 seconds. Again, pretty much a distraction or a chance for her allies to mount an attack. If one of her allies is caught in the crossfire, they'll see their fear and be no help to the fight. Also, seeing as Hi'iaka is blind, she can only gauge her opponent's location with her other senses. It's entirely possible for her to miss completely or hit an ally by mistake.

Eternal Sailor Attack: Poison Angel
Hi'iaka blows a handful of her powdered flowers in the direction of her opponent. This attack can cause any of the symptoms that come from ingesting the flowers of her sphere. These include: confusion, tachycardia, dry mouth, migraine headaches, visual and auditory hallucinations, mydriasis, rapid onset cycloplegia. These effects can last up to 30 seconds, As with her other attacks, her allies are susceptible to this if they get caught in the crossfire. And again, since Hi'iaka is blind, she can only gauge her opponent's location with her other senses. It's entirely possible for her to miss completely or hit an ally by mistake.

Other Things Important to Her Character

  • Neutral Personality Traits
Quiet - It's not that she's afraid of speaking, she just doesn't want her own voice to cover sounds she might hear. Because she's blind, her other senses are sharper and she can hear things that others might not be able to. It's also not that she's not physically capable of yelling, she just prefers not to. She also prefers to be in quieter environments, no young screaming children, because such sharp and piercing noises hurt her more sensitive ears and deafens her more to other noises. It's more of a preference to listen instead of speak. She feels that by listening she can learn more than she would by speaking. She doesn't really like to engage in conversation, and she finds that if she stays quiet, most people will ignore her presence. If someone is speaking directly to her, she'll answer as succinctly as possible in hopes they'll turn their attention elsewhere. Small talk annoys her. Who cares about the weather or what sports team won or lost? She doesn't, and she doesn't want to pretend she does. It's a waste of breath to her. She will avoid being somewhere noisy as much as she possibly can. If she has to be there, she'll likely be on the edges and trying to find a way out. If someone insists on making small talk, she'll answer if she has to, but she'll make her answers short and to the point. If it keeps going on, she may get annoyed and ask them to please leave her alone.
Moderately OCD - She has a way of organizing her things and prefers they stay that way. If things are moved, she will get annoyed and put them back. She has a need to touch things. Usually she carries around a worry stone or a scrap of fabric that she can keep in her pocket and touch. When she's nervous, the need to touch is amplified. Normally the worry stone or fabric is enough and her need to touch is satisfied, but she will almost always be running her fingers over a wall if she's walking next to one regardless of the stone or fabric in her other hand. If her things are moved, she'll first become annoyed and put it back. If it keeps happening, she'll get angry. Anxious, not so much. Keeping things in the places she designates for them is one way she's always used to cope with being blind. If something happens to change it, she gets annoyed or angry. Anxious can be a possibility, but it's more likely to be one of the other two. Her need to touch things is something her grandmother taught her, and it helps to ground her and calm her down if she does get anxious. After the fire, she felt like she was lost in a world she didn't know and it helped her to have a familiar stone or piece of cloth in her pocket that she could touch. Touching walls comes from needing to know where she is in relation to the rest of the room. If she's against a wall she knows that if she follows it, she'll eventually find a door if she needs to get out. Being in the middle of a room tends to make her anxious. She doesn't care if people think she's strange for any of this. When she was getting a little older and most of the kids were either making fun of her for being blind or treating her like a freak, her grandmother told her something that has always stuck with her and it's something she pretty much lives by: People who mind don't matter and people who matter don't mind. It depends on what the item is that she can't find. If it's something she has to have and can't find it on her own, she'll hate to do it but she'll ask someone to help her look for it. If it's something she can do without for a while then she'll let it go and look for it when she can.
Collector - Much like her hobby of collecting dolls, Aero collects people. It's not even a conscious thought process. She'll find someone she likes or is interested in somehow and just like that, they are classified as hers in her mind. Once a person makes this list, Aero will do anything to keep them safe. She might not always be the nicest person to them, but they belong to her and she will do her best to keep them safe. Affection is something she generally withholds from everyone. She may feel some affection for the people she collects. 99% of the time, she won't show it, and if she does it may be in the form of a small smile, or an extra touch. She doesn't realize it's unhealthy, she calls it her way of making friends. She probably wouldn't care much if someone told her it was unhealthy. It works for her, and she'll keep doing it the way she wants to. As for what interests her, it's usually something they can do for her, or perhaps a way they can make her feel. When she collects someone, it's not something she actively announces to the person she's collected. If they find out somehow and don't like it, she...actually won't care much. She just might refrain from talking to them for a while. People can be removed from her collection. This tends to happen if they don't speak for a while, or if one or the other of them moves, or if that person has done something she doesn't like (for this, it would have to be something fairly serious like breaking her trust.) She doesn't really think about how other people work, but she's aware that her method of "making friends" is different from the vast majority of the population.
  • Quirks
Grammatically Correct - She has a way of speaking that not many people would associate with a modern day American teenager. It's very prim and proper. Someone once called it "something out of a terrible Shakespearean play." Thees and thous do not appear in her speech. She just likes to be correct, to follow the rules of grammar. She's always been this way, even as a child. No one's ever confronted her about the way she speaks. If someone did, she would (rather politely) ask them to mind their own business and that she will speak as she pleases.
"Do not touch me." - She hates being touched and will jerk away from anyone that is too close to her. If someone is deliberately messing with her by constantly trying to touch her, she has been known to bite. Hard. If she manages to form a romantic relationship, that person would be allowed to touch her. Her aversion stems from her need for privacy. She just doesn't want people in her bubble.
Hates being surprised. - She hates surprises. Always has, and always will. There isn't really a reason for it, she just hates it. Yes, it includes pleasant surprises. People who surprise her generally receive a scowl and a "Please do not do this again."
Pyrophobic - When she was five, her parents were killed in a fire. The firemen found Aero first and brought her out, but by the time they were going to go back in to get her parents, the house had already begun collapsing and trapped her parents inside and the rescue team outside. Since then, Aero has been deathly afraid of fire. Campfires (if she ever went camping, she doesn't like camping) terrify her. She's wary of candles, but can tolerate them. Ovens and stoves, she's more or less okay with but again, she's wary with them. When exposed to fire, she becomes anxious and wants to get away or to put it out.

Family

  • Mother || Aderyn Bleddyn (Pryce)
  • Father || Carwyn Bleddyn
  • Grandmother || Rhosyn Pryce
From what Aero can remember, her parents were both very loving and kind people. When she was five, an electrical outlet sparked and caught fire while they were sleeping upstairs. No one was awake to know what was happening. A neighbor called the police and the firemen got there in time to pull Aero out, but when they turned to go back in for her parents, the house had begun collapsing and no one was allowed back in. Aero cried while she heard her whole life burning to ashes. From there, she was sent to live with her mother's mother who lived in Destiny City. She lived with her until the age of ten when her grandmother passed away. She was then placed in foster care.
  • Foster Mother || Laurie Abrams
  • Foster Father || Reilly Abrams
  • Foster Brother || Colby Abrams
Laurie and Reilly are kind and caring, though Aeronwen has little interest in forming a relationship with them. They take care of her needs and pretty much anything she asks them for. They try hard to get her to participate with them in family settings, but Aeronwen is simply not interested. Colby is mostly an annoyance to her. He's older than she is and constantly tests her blindness and capabilities. She's afraid of getting close to people and having them taken away from her again. She is grateful that they took her in, but she still doesn't want to form a lasting relationship.
