Lying alone in his bed left him with plenty of time to contemplate his own decisions. The things he'd done in his past that still haunted him. Deep regrets that left an aching feeling in his chest, a dark pain worse than even thoughts of his impending death. What kind of memories would he leave behind? Did it even matter anyway? It was better this way, he told himself that line over and over. It was a fact he couldn't deny but it didn't help him sleep any better at night. Maybe if he said it enough it would really sink it. Although it wasn't always easily, sleep did eventually come. He wasn't sure when he had finally drifted off but he felt like he wasn't asleep long before he was woken. Tired eyes looked towards the doorway. A short figure standing there hesitantly. Yuu, he sighed, watching him for a moment. How long ago was it that Yuu came to him in the middle of the night? Finally, Tetsuya spoke up, "You already woke me up, come in." Blunt words in a heavy half-awake tone. Tetsuya hated how he sounded, he always did. Cold and uncaring. That was the image he was maintaining though, wasn't it? Despite the harshness of his words, Yuu entered the room. Finally feeling a little awake, Tetsu shifted on his bed. Starting with pulling the blanket aside and moving over. When he looked over at Yuu again, he could tell he was upset. From the slight trembling and the rubbing of his eyes, Tetsu knew the signs. "Why are you crying? Did something happen?" Blunt, cold, uncaring. His words triggered something in Yuu, the floodgates were open. Reaching out, he pulled Yuu to him. A gentle pat on the head and an embrace. Physical signs of affection were all he could really manage, though they were also a rarity in themselves. Was it helping? He wondered as Yuu attempted to explain what was going on. Through the broken sentences, Tetsu felt he got the gist of it. He stayed up until Yuu finally calmed down. "Thank you, Tetsu." Did he hear that right? Tetsu wondered idly as he finally let sleep take him again. Morning came too quickly. By the time his silver eyes finally opened, light had seeped in and spread through the room. It was late, he knew that without checking the time. Pushing himself up took more effort than usual today too. A bad start to the day. Yuu was still there too, sleeping soundly. Would he sleep the day away? Honestly, Tetsuya could have too but he didn't want to. He rejected what his body was telling him. Reaching out, he pushed Yuu with more force than he intended. It was hard to judge when he was feeling this way. "It's late, get up." After a good morning and another odd thank you, Yuu left the room. Once he was alone again, Tetsu slowly dragged himself out of bed. He could move around with just some extra effort. He wasn't going to let this weak feeling keep him down all day. So, he took a bath and got ready for the day. It took a bit longer than he would have liked to run through his daily routine but he managed it well enough. After dressing for the day and applying his make-up, Tetsuya checked his phone. He had two messages. The first was from Sayuri. The woman had been trying to convince him to come out since Golden Week started but Tetsuya had stubbornly refused. She went with a new tactic today. It was a picture of the cherry blossoms and the carp streamers along the river. It was pretty, enticing. Maybe he could come out today. It would be a good way to stubbornly fight against how he was feeling. He sent a quick message to her, 'pretty'. His next message was from Yuu. Despite having just seen one another, he still felt the need to text him. It seemed like everyone was excited to go out and enjoy themselves today. Tetsu sent a short, 'ok. have fun.' before tucking his phone into his pocket and leaving his room. He had only managed to take a few steps down the hall when a voice stopped him, "Waking up late again? Are you feeling alright?" Every muscle in his body seemed to tense as Tetsu turned around. "Hisashi, good morning." He greeted his father by name, as was usual between the two of them. "I think you mean good afternoon." Hisashi laughed and Tetsu forced a smile. "I suppose that is more accurate," he admitted, "Since I had a late start, I am in a bit of a hurry. Did you need to discuss something?" Get to the point already. "I was hoping to discuss additional security measures we could take around here. If you are in a hurry we can talk some other time." He stepped forward, placing a firm hand on Tetsuya's shoulder. "Just remember, you represent the family. If you aren't well, you should stay home. Causing a scene would be problematic." Hisashi stepped past Tetsuya and walked off. He could feel anger rising in him like a pot about to boil over. Irritable, he always was when he wasn't well. Hisashi knew that.He wasn't going to be controlled or manipulated. He needed to calm down, he wanted to get out. Tetsuya moved through the head house, ignoring anyone else who tried to get his attention. He had tunnel vision on the door. When he reached it, he pulled it open, closing it behind him. If he was feeling better today it would have slammed. The soft breeze helped. Tetsuya rolled his shoulders back, easing the tension in his body. A cigarette would help, he decided. He lit one and place it between his lips. He leaned against the railing, looking out. He needed a break. Maybe going to the festival wouldn't be such a bad idea, he thought back to the picture Sayuri sent him. Then, almost as if his thoughts had summoned her, Tetsu noticed Sayuri coming towards the house. He waved at her when he saw her looking his way. As she got closer he spoke up, "I thought you would be at the festival." He snuffed out his cigarette in the ashtray beside him. "Must not be that interesting if it didn't keep you there long." He spoke rather bluntly though it was meant to sound more like teasing sarcasm.

Ashton Leara was determined to get to the beach at some point this summer. He normally missed his chances due to various reasons, all of which were because his two careers didn't allow for many off days, only scant hours between shifts. However, he was saying screw the rules and scheduled a week vacation in order to be normal. The man clad in a classic wife beater, blue button down shirt, swim trunks with flip flops combo had his hair in a high ponytail and was already soaking up the rays with a duffel bag on his shoulder.

So far it looked fairly... quiet. Was he super early for this shindig or what? Well.. He clicked his tongue a little and just puffed as he looked for a prime spot for well.. lounging. He would be a couch potato on the beach. Or was that called a beach bum?

He shoved his umbrella in the sand, laid his towel out and grabbed a drink from his bag because he didn't know what they were serving here and he was a bit picky. And so he found himself just laid out with his shirts off and sighing. Guess all he had to do was wait and hope someone he knew showed up.

Having spent the last few weeks stressing about Chris and his lack of memories and what had become of her during the battle with Laurelite, Paris had very little time in which to relax. She did what she could to keep her mind off of those things she was unable to control, but her thoughts had a way of acting on their own. She was as full of doubt and confusion as she was full of hope, and she'd yet to find a suitable outlet.

So it was that she happened upon those cheerful posters advertising the lakeside bash. Paris saw the chance for a little rest and relaxation after weeks of near constant worry. Although crowded events still cast her thoughts back to New Years, she looked forward to the chance to be around other people. She'd become something of a shut in over the recent months. She couldn't help herself. Between New Years and the Luna Bay concert, Paris was perpetually on her guard.

She told herself it wasn't true that every outing ended in battle. Sure, it wasn't entirely uncommon, but she'd had her fair share of evenings in which the war seemed like something far away. The Spring Fling in particular came to mind as she made plans for the lakeside, proof as it was that not all social gatherings ended poorly. It was simply a matter of how one chose to look at things, and Paris, stubborn as she was, chose the more optimistic path—difficult as it may be for her to do so.

Paris arrived that day already dressed for the water, in a hot pink bikini top and matching bottoms in a chevron pattern, a lace sarong slung low around her hips. On her feet she wore gold sandals, and perched on her head she had a wide brimmed sunhat. A pair of large black shades shielded her eyes from the sun.

She selected a piece of beach far enough from the volleyball court to be safe from any stray balls, but close enough to other people to satisfy her need for social interaction. She spread two towels out along the sand and set a cooler full of drinks down nearby.

*************************************************

Lovely Belrose wasn't the type for parties. He wasn't the type for the beach either, yet he somehow found himself attending the lakeside bash against his better judgement. He chalked it up to boredom. The summer had a way of dragging on by the time it neared its eventual end, so he was almost ready to return to school simply to experience something out of the norm.

It wasn't so much that he missed being around people. He could go another few months without having to mingle with his classmates, and indeed he turned his nose up at those people who'd already arrived at the lakeside. It was simply that he missed having something to do. There was only so much free time he could tolerate. Eventually he began to crave a more structured schedule.

“Could it get any hotter?” he complained, fanning himself with one hand. He wore a pair of navy swim shorts and a t-shirt he had no intention of taking off, lest he burn from the sun and face the disgusting inevitability of peeling skin.

*************************************************

Haven Sinclair, on the other hand, had mixed feelings about summer drawing to a swift and steady close. On the one hand it mean returning the school, which—after a relatively uneventful summer—she was rather looking forward to; on the other hand it meant... returning to school. Only she wouldn't be returning so much as she would be attending a new place. Her days as the resident genius at Knightside were over.

If she were to be honest with herself, Haven would admit there was a part of her that dreaded attending Crystal. Sure, some of her old classmates would be there, but none of her friends would be—what few she could actually consider friends. She'd have to make new ones or else risk beginning her high school years well and truly alone, an outcome she feared above all others.

She saw the lakeside bash as a way to recapture her youth—as if she were really so grown up. She knew Peter would be attending, and it felt like old times to join him, even if they didn't always get along. Haven arrived in her lavender swimsuit, a large hat shielding her eyes from the sun. She carried a towel and a tote bag in her arms, flip-flops flopping along the sand as she endeavored to find a comfortable place in which to sit.

“Peter,” she said when she saw her old school rival. She attempted an awkward smile as she greeted him with a “hi” that was decidedly lacking in cheer.

So she was still no better at socializing. No doubt she'd say something to have him storming off sooner rather than later.

Nadia had been so busy with powering up, mixed with going to her homeworld, and dividing her non powered life between Mont Blanc, Colin, Dancing and her school that she had barely left herself ANY time to do anything fun.

She was feeling quite, not fun, but worked out. It usually only took one fun day though to recharge! She had heard about the lake party from a friend, as today was the peak of the summer season with hot temperatures. She could work her tan, get a dip in. Show off that hot summer body she had been rewarded with.

Luckily, Ash had chosen this time to be over, and it was no problem to convince the silver lady to join her in a party. The cat girl never turned down a going out. Towels were packed away, as was a very pretty pink cat bag so Nadia didn't seem TOO much like a crazy lady bringing a cat. She had seen worse. Along with a umbrella, some drinks she liked and her large floating tube. She chose her peach bikini, throwing lightweight dress over it and cute matching peach river shoes. Because while she loved to run barefoot, she knew that lakes often had rocks when you least expected them, or glass.

The drive over had been songs and singing, and once there, she shouldered Ash and most of the supplies. She'd make a return trip after they set up a spot for themselves.

"You want further inland or closer to the water?" Nadia grinned down to the cat in her bag, "Because I'm fine either way, but I might disappear to soak."

Not being able to remember the last four years of his life as Chris Gallo was something he was still getting used to, but there were enough people in his life who supported him so it wasn’t as horrible as it seemed like it could be.

While he couldn’t remember the last time he went to the beach or a lake aside from Camp Larkspur, it didn’t bother him. Chris loved the water and he was more than happy to accompany Paris to the event. Either way, he doubted she would have left him alone, and if he stayed at him, he was fairly certain she would have stayed home herself.

He didn’t understand why there were those who made such a fuss about looking nice for a lake. For his own attire, it was just a pair of aqua green swim trunks and a tee. Sunglasses were a must, of course, and flip flops were easy to kick off whenever he wanted to go into the water.

“You’ll tell me if I’ve already met someone, right?” he asked once more, although he knew Paris wouldn’t leave him to fend for himself to explain what happened. Electrocuted and in a coma seemed to be the running story, and so far it worked. Not many people wanted to get into more detail than that.

*************************

“It’s the middle of summer,” Ilian Jones pointed out to his friend as he looked around the gathering to see if he could spot anyone else he knew. Maybe fellow agents, or even people he knew from high school. Having no ride himself, he had few other options than to bum a ride off Lovely. Thankfully he had that day off work. Being on his own was more difficult than he thought it would be, but it was better than being in a group home.

“When was the last time you were at the lake?” he grinned, taking a step towards the beach, walking backwards to try and draw Lovely towards the water with him. “We went on a school trip in middle school, but it ended up raining. You didn’t have to come if you were just planning on complaining the whole time.”

Luckily for Ilian, his already dark skin meant that he didn’t have to worry about burning as much as Lovely, who was practically ghost-like.

*************************

Peter Gallo loved everything about the outdoors whether it was exploring the woods or at the lake or whatever. So he was more than happy for the opportunity to go to the lake. He was no longer the awkward little kid he used to be. Now he was an awkward teenager still going through puberty, but more important than that, he was no longer little.

“Haven!” he greeted with a wave and took a few steps closer to her as she approached. He wore blue striped trunks and no shirt (why would he? he was at a lake!), but still had on flip flops in case he needed to walk into the wooded area for any reason. “Hey, you look, uh… you look nice,” he said with a stupid grin that he couldn’t fight back. Summer had been nice to her. Summer had been nice to him, too, in that he could finally look down at her instead of up.

“I haven’t seen anyone from school yet. Are you meeting anyone here?” he wondered, glancing around to make sure he could keep an eye on wherever his brother and Paris were sitting.

An end of summer beach party was exactly what Chailee needed. Unfortunately for her, the only way to get there though was by bus. Her parents had gone off on a vacation of their own and left her alone, for the first time eve, for an entire week. She had mentioned the party to them and they had seemed fine with it, if a bit hesitant in letting her go. But, with their permission she hopped the bus, dressed in her adorable black and white bikini with a small sundress tossed on top for the ride. She packed a tote filled with necessary beach things like suntan lotion, a towel, sunglasses, an inflatable inner tube and also some clothes for when it got too dark to swim.

The bus got her relatively close to the shindig. She hiked the rest of the way, her flip flops causing no real issues except a small trip up over a stick she hadn't seen on the side of the road. Needless to say she arrived at the party scene relatively unscathed and with very little issue.

Music was already blaring. Thankfully it wasn't so loud that you couldn't hear yourself think. As she looked around she noted that not many people had shown up yet. Awkwardly she stood just off the wooded path and tried to decide what to do. She recognized a few people, but no one she was very close with. She -could- rectify that problem though. First things first.

With her tote in hand she moved towards the beach. A few others had already staked their claims on the large beach. If a lot of people showed up this place certainly would get crowded. She picked a spot fairly close to the water and happily laid her towel down before pulling out the inner tube she had brought along. Wasting no time she began to blow it up all the while smiling at the donut shaped, and designed tube she had brought along.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gweneth had been on the fence about going to this party. She was still getting settled in the city and really wasn't sure if she should attend such a large event. After talking to her brother on the phone though he convinced her. 'What better way to meet people. You'll have fun sis.'

Fun. Right.

She made sure that Reilly would have all the food and water needed for the day before she threw on her green bikini with a sheer swimsuit cover on top. Slipping into some basic brown flip flops she threw some required things into a bag before heading off to the appointed spot. But not before stopping for some alcohol along the way.

Of course she got a bit lost once she left the liquor store since she wasn't that familiar with road names yet, but she arrived in fairly good spirits and mentally ready to tackle the event.

She threw her things down on a spot on the beach. She didn't have plans to lounge there much. Being your typical irish girl meant her and the sun didn't get along too well. She had already caked on SPF 50 sunblock before leaving her house and was debating on throwing on some more now that the first layer had completely dried. Couldn't be too safe when it came to the sun's unrelenting rays.

She opted to just slathering more on her face and shoulders before hitting up the food tables where she stopped to deposit her alcohol offerings. Which, she wasted no time in dipping into with a classy plastic cup filled with red wine. She nabbed herself a simple hamburger and some chips before heading back to her towel. Throwing on a sun hat she toted along with her she began to munch down and drink. It was never too early to drink when you were at a party.

“You'll know if you've met someone before when they act like they know you,” Paris reminded him.

It was no easy feat, handling Chris's amnesia. The explanation they'd devised seemed to be working well enough to keep people from asking too many questions. Those who were In The Know understood that it was more than a simple electrocution, and those who weren't didn't know any better than to believe what they were told.

After spreading out the towels and dropping the cooler of drinks, Paris settled herself down and kicked off her sandals, sinking her toes into the hot sand.

“This is nice,” she said and stretched, flopping back to bask in the sun. Her hat crumpled a bit beneath her, but Paris didn't pay it any mind. “Sometimes I wish our house was on the lake. We should have come out here sooner. I feel like we've been cooped up all summer.”

It was partly her fault, she realized, having become such a homebody.

Paris propped herself up on one of her elbows and flipped open the lid of the cooler, passing a drink to Chris without asking if he wanted one. She cracked open a second for herself.

Lovely had no intention of drawing too close to the water. It may not be the sort of revolting salt water one experienced at the beach, but there was no telling what sorts of things were floating around in there. He didn't care to imagine the sorts of things people got up to while wading through its depths.

“If I didn't come, you wouldn't be here,” he lightly argued. It was a little annoying, being Ilian's sole means of transportation (other than public transit, which Lovely didn't care to sit through and therefor saw no reason why his friends should sit through it either). He didn't exactly like acting as someone's chauffeur, but at least he knew when and where he was needed.

“I haven't been to the lake, actually. Not that it matters. Water is water is water. Let's find something to eat,” he suggested, and then complained again, “I'm starving.”

He could smell food on the air. A few people had already fired up the grills, and the tables were lined with common picnic foods. Surely there'd be something he found at least mildly appealing.

*************************************************

If Haven's cheeks turned a bit pink in response to Peter's compliment, it was easily blamed on the sun shining high above them. She tilted her head a bit so her face was cast in shadow from her hat, hoping Peter wouldn't notice.

“No, I just thought a change of scenery might be nice,” she explained. “I had my brother drop me off.”

It was true enough. She spent most of her time at home in her room, or else at the library neck deep in her research on youma and the war—which had provided few results as of yet. She should have expected as much, of course. It wasn't as if there was a lot written on either subject, just rumor and speculation.

Even so, she wasn't about to tell Peter that she'd known she would find him here. She didn't want him thinking she was here because of him. It might end up going to his head.

“You look different,” Haven observed. It frustrated her a little that he'd grown over the summer and she showed it by frowning lightly. “Your hair...”

User ImageWow! This was an amazingly prepared party! As her vision was greeted with the sight of the beach, Elysha felt her steps slow to take the preparations of the festivities along with the beautiful scenery in. She had moved out of the way before her steps stopped completely. She did not want to risk tripping while she multi-tasked with carrying her small contribution to the food and drinks area and looking around in amazement. She went with doing a bit of the latter before proceeding onward and locating where she could place the case of bottled water she brought along. Some oceans were saltier than others, but Elysha had yet to find out how Destiny City's beach water fares in a spectrum of saltiness levels. So, perhaps this would be the day she would find out. And if so, she had a small stash of bottled water among her own belongings in the event that she found the need to rinse off at some point between swims, particularly if her eyes were made to water and sting a bit too much due to beach water saltiness. Perhaps, the bottled water she contributed may be of similar assistance to other individuals attending the party at some point also.

The rays of the sun warmed her and she was glad she generously applied a lotion that was a mix of three parts--sunscreen, insect repellant, and moisturizer with a surprisingly more than reasonable and quite satisfying fragrance--before she had set out for her arrival here. She had to walk carefully as sand sifted between the soles of her slippers and feet and had her swaying as she stepped about to settle on a spot to spread her towel and sit during the event. How she seemed to noticably struggle a little more than she anticipated in walking on sand reminded her of the contrast between comfortably dancing on pointe shoes and yet finding herself nearly tripping on high heels and flats more often. And this recollection made her smile widen a fraction in amusement at herself. When she found a spot at last with a view of the area that she really liked, her smile broke into a delighted grin at the picturesque expanse she could feast her eyes on while she was here as she then moved to adjust her bag and pulled her towel out of her bag to place it down followed by her things.

As she smoothed her towel on the sand, she saw that someone had also settled and was relaxing at a spot nearby, and gave a friendly smile with her spoken and gestured greeting. "Hello, this place is incredible," she waved a hand as she beamed and while her other supported her while she settled back to sit and leisurely take in more of her surroundings.

Auguste had been sitting back at his apartment, lounging around uselessly until his roommate texted him. Nadia was not only a very kind and gracious roommate (both to him and his dog), but she was also terribly fun and extremely exciting to be around - not to mention that she was good friends with people like Colin, who Auguste was still a little sadly starry eyed around, but that was beside the point.

He sent her a text back, a smile on his face.

Text to Nadia: I'll be right there!

Considering how pale Auguste was normally, what with his light hair and skin, he decided it best to at least wear some sort of cover up. When he arrived, he was in a pair of striped swim shorts and a thin white hoody, a bag slung over his shoulder. He found Nadia relatively easily, and padded over towards her, sunglasses covering his face as he beamed down at her.

"Good afternoon," said Auguste cheerfully. "You look lovely, as usual."

It was (and always had been, really) difficult for Pepper to take time for fun. School had been consuming much of her time lately, and the constant, self-imposed pressure to achieve high marks was always looming uncomfortably over her shoulder. So when she saw the flyers boasting a bash out at the lake, Pepper decided not to go.

She did not usually quibble with herself once making a decision, but later that night as she pored over her summer studies, Pepper changed her mind.

Two days later, she had decided once more that she would not attend.

It wasn't until the morning of as she packed her crap up into her small, ratty car -- hell, it wasn't until she actually arrived at the lake -- that she made the decision to attend. Clad in some ratty cutoffs and a red tank-top, flipflops, over-sized glasses and a big, ridiculous hat, Pepper made her way down to the beach and rolled out a rather large blanket. From a small basket she retrieved a book.

It was obvious that Pepper was missing the entire point of attending the lakeside bash. But hey, she was a starving student and there was free food, right?

Genevieve had, like every other young person, had heard about the event and was excited for it. Not only was she excited but she'd texted all her friends to make sure that they knew about the end of summer party and would be attending! This was an event that was getting enough type, even before she'd mass texted her friends, that she knew they needed to go - it would be the party of the summer!

She had gone out and gotten a new outfit, a nice bright dress and golden sandals to keep to the bright and shiny theme she had going. her dark hair was left loose and down her back while a pair of sunglasses were perched upon her nose. Her car had been parked in the meadow, far away from the other cars there, she was glad for the short walk to the gathering.

When she arrived it was a quick look around and Genevieve was heading for the foods and drinks table to grab a plate and load up. She had made sure not to eat before leaving for the party so she could enjoy the various foods which would be there - and there was a load of food! Finding a paper plate and a fork she started down the table and went right for the sausage, pepper, and onion then rice was put onto the plate. From there she found something else with pork..or beef, she wasn't sure which, and deciding it enough for the moment she went to get a bottle of cold water, from one of the coolers. With her food and drink she made her way to one of the tents to seat herself and enjoy her food, while watching people and seeing if any of her friends came by - or anyone really!

[Luca and Kayla]

When news of the big lake bash began to spread around, Luca begged her parents to take her there. Everyone was going to be there (if the scope and spread of the invitations were anything to go by), and it looked like another great beach party to wrap up the summer. There was also the possibility that it was another Negaverse ambush, but hey, Luca never forgot her henshin pen anymore, and the last beach party turned out all right, didn't it?

She insisted on bringing Kayla along, partly as an apology for repeated failure to patrol with her or go to her planet with her. Kayla didn't object to the beach party plan at all, quite happy to go have some real fun. Sure, she got plenty of air when she patrolled, but that didn't really mean much when it was filled with so much tension. An opportunity to fully relax would be a blessing.

The duo arrived at the lake beach a little after some others did, and Luca was very quick to start setting up the beach blanket and umbrella. "I don't even know why I'm bothering with this. I'm just heading into the water first thing." She was wearing an oldie but a goodie- the swimsuit from last year with the white strapless top and the orange skirt. Her scars showed, but she was used to getting questions about them.

"Did you remember your sunscreen?" Kayla asked. "Casey told me you forget and turn into a lobster." Her swimsuit was a blue and white number with a bandeau-style top; it was a little shopping trip surprise from her mother, but she hadn't gotten much use out of it. She now had a scar of her own from the youma attack on Hugbell on her stomach, though it was a faint one.

Luca waved Kayla off. "He has a big mouth."

"I can still get your back if you'd like," Kayla said, holding out the high-SPF sunscreen to Luca.

"Yeah, just make it quick. I want to swim."

[Silas and Ezra]

Going to the beach party was all Ezra's idea. Sure, Silas was open to the idea, but it was Ezra who cajoled and and wheedled him into actually going, and into bringing beer with him. As much as Silas protested, he straight-up couldn't win against the sheer gusto of Ezra's negotiations. So here he was, setting up on the beach while Ezra dove for the beer.

"If you get puke-drunk, or even incoherent-drunk, I'm going to kill you. And then I'm going to tell your mom so she can kill you again." Silas laid out his beach blankets and pulled the cooler over, bending over in his swim trunks.

It was all Ezra could do to keep from grabbing Silas's butt when he was bent over like that. Public? What public? He whipped his shirt off and fiddled with the waistband of his swanky shorts. "Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'm going to go get some food before I booze up. Wanna come with me? And if anyone asks, I turned 21 last week." He barely gave Silas the opportunity to answer before he started wandering off towards the area with all the food.

Silas gave an exasperated sigh. "If we get arrested, it's your problem." Grumbling just a bit, he followed behind Ezra to the food area, occasionally casting looks over his shoulder to make sure no one was fiddling with the "home base." He was pretty sure that Ezra would spend a while stuffing his face and hoarding what he could before heading back to drink.

"Hey, someone brought cupcakes," Ezra said with his mouth half-full of his new find.

[Elissa]

Elissa was hardly one to miss out on a party, or a catering opportunity for that matter. She had been up late last night, baking batches of cupcakes and cookies to bring to the lake party. The sweets would, of course, be for anyone who wanted them. She held a certain fascination with seeing who would take what, and how many; some of these people could eventually become clients of her cafe. It wasn't just a marketing ploy, but any little bit helped.

Now, clad in her tasteful tankini (wasn't that style a must for curvy girls nowadays?), she set out the trays of sweets around the food tables. The chocolate chip cookies got little coverings over them to keep them from getting melty, but everything else seemed like it would be okay for a while.

[Dmitry]

Dmitry was super excited when he saw one of the neon posters around town about a Summer bash at the lake. He was also glad he didn't live too far since he didn't have a car yet. He had a hard time getting a hold of the alcohol since you know...He was only 19 going on 20 in September. "One more year to go and I wont have to be sneaking s**t around..." Till then, he'd have to go through other resources.

Pity really.

He navigated his way down the path, back pack slung over his shoulder. Once he made it to the clearing, he quickly moved to set out the alcohol he brought, making his way over to the tents to go change really quick into the outfit he brought with him. Of course he was slightly worried about his hair and getting it super soaked whenever he decided to swim so man bun it is! For some odd reason, chicks really like a man with a man bun...Why he didn't know, nor did he care. Smiling at anyone he saw, he walked over to the beach to find a nice spot for his towel.

The best pink dolphin towel that ever existed...Man he loved this towel!

Once he was set up, he took off his shirt and made a beeline for the water. It was hot and he wanted to get in a good swim before he went to mingle with others.

Lorne was not ready for a day at the beach; just look at the boy. When did it look like he'd last been to a beach? Not that he hated it, he just didn't usually go because there was no reason to. Beach parties and introverts didn't exactly mix. But not he had the reason he'd been missing and for the first time it actually mattered that all his swimsuits were back in France in a box somewhere.

He fretted for a minute. He worried for a minute more. He almost texted Nadia and told her he couldn't do it and that he was sorry and he'd make it up to her later and the whole thing was typed out and everything and -- finally he sighed and deleted the message before he could hit send.

Text: On my way.

He just had to make a quick stop first to go buy a damned swimsuit and some sandals to go with it. When he finally came shambling up to the riverside, he was more than a little winded, red in the face due to exertion instead of any sense of shame. Unfortunately for him, it was mid-later summer, and the swimsuit choices were by this time a little... limited, leaving him in some black and white shorts that were both a little too low and a little too high for him. Luckily his baggy sleeveless shirt (he had once, exactly one) managed to take care of the low part, for now. He adjusted his sunglasses and after a moment of uncertainty managed to pick his girlfriend out of the crowd and make a beeline for her - and quickly realized she wasn't alone.

"Nadia, " because of course he regarded her first, the softest edge to his voice as he looked at her. Thankfully, the sunglasses insured she wouldn't know exactly how long or how hard. "You are positively radiant, " and that was the best, most honest words he could use to describe her, and in spite of the strange company he did not trip over his own tongue.

Maybe because the strange company wasn't really so strange at all. He tilted his sunglasses down to regard the silver furred cat, and nothing was really enough to stifle his small smile of pure, unbridled delight. "And this must be Miss Ash." The cat everyone had been raving to him about for months - this was a meeting that had been too long coming. And meeting cats would always be easier than meeting people, wouldn't it? "Nadia, you never mentioned how beautiful her fur was. She's just stunning." He winked at her before sliding the sunglasses back up the bridge of his nose and finally turning to the last unfamiliar face --

"Et tu es ... Auguste?" he tried tentatively, and his cheeks burned a little brighter because he was going to be terribly, horribly embarrassed if he wasn't. As though the shorts weren't bad enough; he secretly longed for his tight black jeans.
