 It's that time of year again--Halloween is fast approaching and that means you get to see what we've been cooking up! This year we've prepared some RPs and prompts that everyone will be able to participate in, so if those interest you, make sure to keep checking back here for new opportunities! More information can be found in the Ticket Opportunities list in the next post! Even if you're not interested in any of our super cool prizes, we hope a little roleplay might be enough to get everyone involved! Roleplay opportunities will only be open from now until ~6pm EST on October 28th. The raffle will be rolled after a ticket list is compiled and winners will have 72 hours to contact the shop mule, The Space Cauldron, with their preference list. Anyone who does not respond within 72 hours will forfeit their slot. While the majority of our events are designed to be playable by a wide variety of factions, we understand that not every group may have access to all plots. For players with characters that cannot participate due to IC or OOC reasons, or players with no characters at all, you are allowed to play a disposable. Please see our information on disposables a few posts down!

Ticket Opportunities
Tickets can only be earned through Event Roleplays or Event Prompts, so you must be active in the shop if you are interested in participating in the raffle! Each ORP or game will have specific instructions, so please make sure to read the rules when you are signing up! The shop will be hosting both an ORP and prompts this year. Links to everything will be kept in this post, and all prompts will be listed here as well!
This year, there is a ticket cap! You can participate in writing for as many ORPs, Mini Games, or prompts as you like, but no player can claim more than five tickets towards the raffle. If you want to write for a prompt for requirements, or just for fun, that’s fine! But this year we are limiting each player to five tickets only. There will be plenty of opportunities to earn tickets, with a variety of events and prompts--this way, everyone has a chance to pick and choose what they want to participate in instead of trying to force themselves to respond to everything to earn raffle tickets!

While players can include as many of their official characters as they want, you can only earn one raffle ticket per ORP. This means, regardless of how many characters you play, you can only earn one raffle ticket. All events will be run for civilians only, so there will be no powering up! To earn a raffle ticket, you must write at least 500 words, though if you have multiple characters this can be spread out across them. You still need to write 500 words for a character if you are using a roleplay as a growth requirement for them! Open Events:N/A Closed Events:N/A PromptsEach Prompt may only be counted towards a raffle ticket once per player. This means that if you respond to the same prompt with multiple characters, only the first one will count for a raffle ticket. We will make a small announcement any time a new prompt is put up, so check back here regularly to see if there's anything new you are interested in writing! All prompt responses must be posted in the Mini-Event subforum and can be written as a solo, a regular, or a battle (if applicable!). These should be labelled [Halloween-S], [Halloween-R], or [Halloween-B]. If you roleplay a disposable, these will not count towards any growth requirements for them, but if you are roleplaying with someone who has a disposable, it can still count for growth for your official character. More information on disposables can be found in the next post! To receive a raffle ticket for a prompt, you must write at least five hundred words and should include the prompt either in your first post or in the code you post in this thread to claim a ticket. The roleplay does not have to be finished in order to claim a ticket, but it will need to be finished before it can be used for growth requirements. While these events are written so that you only need a civilian to participate, you can play a powered character if it seems feasible! Current Prompts:Quote: As you head down a very familiar route that you frequent one night, you come across someone giving away free candy corn. Whether you love it or hate it, free is free and you decide to take it home, shoving it in your pocket to be forgotten. Eventually you head to bed, only to be woken up but a soft, high - pitched snarling sound near the foot of your bed. You sit up and find that the candy corn is splayed out across the floor, and among it, in the center of what seems to be a sacrificial circle… Is a knee high gremlin shaped like a candy corn. It sees you and bites you, before scampering away. Before you can catch it, it's disappeared. Sans the strange little bite on your leg, there's no evidence this was anything more than a dream, and by morning the marks are almost completely gone. The only lingering effect is an extreme need to consume sugar for the next twenty four hours. Quote: In a time of darkness, sometimes it's the little things that make a difference. Destiny City has its fair share of tragedies, not the least of which was the Carnival Fire of 1942. The story of a distant memory that claimed the lives of over a hundred people and injured many more recently resurfaced after an estate sale revealed the only surviving relics of the massive fire: a set of old carousel horses. A local philanthropist and historian acquired the set, some of which were badly burned, and set about restoring them. It took several months, but the project was completed and the Carousel was resurrected in memory of those who lost their life on the very grounds they lost. It stands now, open to the public, a tribute of Destiny's City past and its perseverance. The Carousel operates as to be expected, with antique horses that are perhaps a bit more frightening than need be and a tune that is almost as eerie as it is cheery. Some even say they hear distant voices, and screams, mixed into the music; others have said that as the Carousel moves the shadows of people fleeing distracts them. It's probably just a ghost story, though. Are you brave enough to find out? Quote: You notice a black cat with what looks to be some kind of marking on its forehead, which in Destiny City is not an uncommon occurrence. It appears to be opening its mouth as though speaking, though no sounds come out. The cat entices you to follow it both by its silence and strange energy signature, and you don’t quite seem to be going anywhere in particular, but you feel compelled to see where this journey will end. As the small creature gets to a shadow filled area, it turns and gives a final audible meow before seeming to melt into the shadows. All searching yields no results the cat is simply not there…perhaps this wasn’t such a normal occurrence after all! Quote: Destiny City News reports several sightings of 'rabid dogs' appearing throughout the city. Those interviewed claim that the dogs would surround them and chase them down the streets, seemingly popping in and out of sight until the person finally found themselves in a well lit area. You have the misfortune of running into these same dogs. They cling to the shadows as you go about your way at night. Seemingly at the corner of your vision, one flickers by, and you turn and see nothing. Again and again it happens. They are trying to drive you into the darkest corners of the city, herding you away from the light. In the nearby distance are the lights of the city: streetlights, signs, traffic. You have to do something to get there, to escape these creatures. When you make it to any significant light source, you hear a low growl, a wailing hiss; the dogs have vanished. For now. These prompts occur before a specific event in the shop; an ORP will conclude this line of plots and will begin in approximately one week. Typically we post one new prompt every few days for the lead up, however this year all of the prompts have been posted together at once to allow more time for plotting and roleplay. The IC date has been included in each prompt; you may respond to these prompts at any time. Though the days are attached to the prompts, it is only meant to highlight the progression of the plot. You do not have to wait until day seven to start the final prompt; you may do any of these prompts immediately, but just keep in mind that ICly Day Seven will happen just before the ORP begins! Quote: Day One: During this time of year, the shadows are always growing longer and darker. Ordinarily, it's not something you think about, but for some reason there is something strange about the shadows this year. When walking through the shadows in Destiny City, it feels cold, or maybe even like the shadows briefly clutched at you. You may feel sluggish when passing through them, or you may feel drained or even unnecessarily anxious. It may be easy to brush off at first, but it's certainly unnerving. Quote: Day Three: As if the shadows weren't creepy enough, now they seem to be moving, stretching beyond where the light shouldn't let it reach. In the afternoon sun, the shadows still seem to be climbing; darkness is spreading across the city unnaturally. More than that, now sometimes it feels like you are being forcibly grabbed, like someone is trying to drag you into the darkness. Quote: Day Five: The shadows were worth avoiding before, but now it's almost impossible. Sometimes when you walk through a shadow, you feel your heart beat so loudly in your head that it's all you can think about. You may step into one shadow and step out of another completely across town. Or, at least, it feels like it. There is no way of going back or predicting which shadow you will wind up coming out of, but the news is reporting a wave of fatigue, confusion and stress as having odd effects on its citizens. No one has any recollection of the travel between one shadow and the next, and all passing of time seems warped. Travel is instantaneous regardless of the distance through Destiny City. Quote: Day Seven: As you walk around town, you start to notice that people seem different. Faces you used to remember have been swallowed by shadows; you may 'know' the person by a feeling, but their face is completely masked in deep black shadow. Their voice is unfamiliar, and its clear to you that something is wrong, but no sense of logic can explain this. Shadows seem to be replacing people around you--associates, neighbors, maybe even friends or family members. Even if they act completely normal, you are left with an unsettling feeling. The shadow impostors seem to come and go, but you never feel safe anymore. Something from the shadows is always watching.

Disposables
If you don't have a character in the shop yet, that's okay! Players may use a quest character or a character they create on the spot to participate in event only roleplays and prompts. You can only roleplay your character in the Mini-Event subforum. When setting up a new thread, you must put an asterisk next to your character's name to indicate that they are not officially won. For example, you might write a solo based off of a prompt and it would be titled [Event Solo] Title [Name*]. If you are participating in an ORP, the rules may be different so please read each thread accordingly!
If you are a new member of the shop and do not have a character in the shop and want to respond to a prompt by writing either a solo or roleplay, please fill out the following form and put it in a spoiler in your first post! Even if you have filled it out for other events or threads, you must include this in every new thread you are involved in. [b]Character’s name:[/b]

He really wanted to poke some fun at her and get her all riled up. She was almost cute when she had her angry face on- almost. As cute as a troublesome little princess could be anyway. So when someone entered and cut off the fun he was trying to have with her, he couldn't help but be a little disappointed. The emotion was so slight that it didn't show on his features. There was so much that took priority these days that any whimsical desires passing his way automatically were brushed onto the back burner. Picking on Alisair was one of them. His attention turned away from the delicate creature before he was able to see her reaction. He had hoped that his playful banter could help ease the burden a bit or make her forget everything she needed to be thinking about for just a few seconds but the intruders appearance indicated that was not to be. They just couldn't get a break.
[b]"Report."[/b] Aaron's voice commanded the soldier with clear authority. The man bowed to Aaron, completely not put off by seeing the man in bed with a sling on. There was something about Aaron that was imposing. It was in the way he carried himself, the confident set of his shoulders and piercing eyes. Some would have liked to attribute those qualities to Alisair and say that her regal stature had begun to rub off on him but those who had contact with him prior to him meeting the princess would know that he always had a commanding presence.

[b]"Good work."[/b] The new recruit beamed.[b] "Casualties?"[/b] The kinds smile fell. Not a good omen. Knowing the targets he would have been an idiot to assume none had died in the process but he didn't think it would be a large number.

"Sixteen dead, seven severely injured, and three with minor wounds S-Sir."[/i] The young man nearly choked on the words. Aaron didn't blame him.
[b]"Christ..."[/b] He leaned back against the pillow that was propping him up. Those numbers were shocking. He would have thought five, even seven men, but [i]sixteeen?![/i] Prowlers really were monsters. Upon closer inspection Aaron realized that the lad was blinking back tears. It was safe to assume he was close with one of the victims. Poor kid. [b]"Where are they now?"[/b]
[b]"Due to outside assistance we were able to capture them and place them in block one. They are both under heavy sedation and all weapons and restraining devices have been removed for safety purposes. The woman who lent aide has also been taken into custody, we would have suffered a much bigger loss if she hadn't stepped in."[/b] Aaron nodded once as he took in all of the information.

"Good work Tommy. I will see to this woman and see if her interests lie in future assistance. Meanwhile you are dis- Wait. Did you say the prowlers were both in block one? As in they were placed in the same cell?"[/b] Please tell him that wasn't the case. Were his soldiers really that stupid?
[i]"Er..."[/i] The kid glanced around nervously. [i]"Yes sir."[/i]
[b]"s**t."[/b] Aaron flung the thin blanket covering his legs clear off and swung his legs over the edge. [b]"Hurry and collect a few others. Let's hope they are still out when we get down there." [/b] The young man looked startled by Aaron's sudden movement and stood there wide eyed for a moment. Maybe he was afraid of going to the demons lair. If he was, Aaron couldn't blame him but they didn't have the time to wait for the boy to get his courage up. [b]"Move!"[/b] He barked. The kid started and rushed out ahead of Aaron. That was more like it. He was about to exit the room when he realized Alisair was still around. He paused.
[b]"Uh, sorry I need to take care of this before it makes more problems. I'll probably be a while. If you have the time can you greet our guest?"[/b] He passed through the door without waiting for a response. That too would probably irritate the living hell out of her. He was practically kicking a hornets nest. Later though. They would have to wait until later to get a good bout in with each other.
By the time Aaron arrived at the basement level he had a small contingency of guards in tow. There were five but they were the top fighters the resistance had to offer. Summoning them did not take long since they all resided in the same building and after the earlier commotion they were all armored and ready for combat. He could see that none of the five had been in the initial group that responded to the earlier attack or they would have been bloodied and bandaged in some places. It as a shame really. If these five had gone out there Aaron was confident the results of the operation would have been different. Ah well what's done was done. He focused his sights ahead of him as they rounded the corner hall. Two guards bowed and unlocked the first in a series of checkpoint gates that they would travel through to get to block one. Eventually they were closing in on the center most cell.
A small gasp came from behind them as they closed in on the targets. It was as Aaron had feared. One of them was already up and moving. It was the male, the larger of the two. That was no surprise to him. The female was significantly smaller and weighed a lot less in comparison. It was only natural that the same dosage would affect her longer. His jaw clenched tightly as he came upon them, looking for the first time on the faces of those who murdered his family. One devil and one angel, though this angel was an angel of death. He wondered how many had been fooled by her sweet face. It sickened him. A sudden anger surged through him like a wave of fire and he nearly grabbed the keys out of David's hands. Every cell in his body burned with rage and he wanted nothing more than to end their lives in those few moments. His men must have sensed his fury. One placed a hand on his shoulder as if to steady him against the torrent of emotion he felt. It worked. Partially. An electronic weapon was drawn instead. He entered the cell first since he didn't trust any of the other men not to have their weapons stolen right out of their hands. A cold, hate filled gaze pinned the male down. In the past he might have felt fear staring into those black eyes, eyes that existed for the purpose of killing men just like him, but the vengeance he felt chased away any fear that could have lingered. All he wanted now was to cause pain.

"Into the corner. NOW!" [/b]Aaron practically snarled at the man and waited for him to comply. Sparks of lightening lanced out from his weapon. He would not hesitate to use it to make his point. Hell he might just use it for fun, just for the pleasure of causing the prowler pain. They could never experience enough pain to atone for what they took from him.[/size]

Mini GamesThis year we have a few mini games to participate in! You can find information about each Mini Game in their respective threads! While you cannot win raffle tickets from participation alone, if you write 500 words (either as a solo or RPing within the thread) based on the Mini Game and your scores for any character, you may be eligible to claim one ticket. Complete instructions and details are in the Mini Game threads, so please check these out! Not all Mini Games will be eligible for a raffle ticket entry, so please double check the rules to see if it is offered as an option first! So if you aren't playing for tickets, what are you playing for?Participation in the Mini Events can earn you IC RP Items! You can select either our current Event IC RP items or any of our permanent IC RP items! You can only win one of these items doing this method, so if you win in one mini game you cannot win in another! If the mini games have unique prizes that cannot be earned anywhere else (such as the necklaces in the Scavenger hunt) you can still participate to win them ICly but you will forfeit the OOC item prize, which will be rolled to go to someone else. Individual Participation RewardsSometimes luck isn’t on anyone’s side; Individual Participation Rewards are rewards for participation without any competitive nature! For every five roleplays or solos that reach 500 words, a player can claim one IC RP item--from our regular pool of one time use IC Items, from our current Limited Edition IC RP Item Pool, or any item from a previous Limited Edition IC RP Item Pool (with the exception of any items that were given out as special/exclusive rewards in certain RPs). You cannot claim an IC RP Item or any Item that was winnable in a player run event, however you have access to any IC RP Item given out in a similar staff run event. You can claim up to three one time use IC RP Items through this method! However, if you participate in ten roleplays or solos that reach 500 words, you will have the option to claim one permanent accessory in place of one IC RP Item! This means, if you do fifteen roleplays or solos, you could claim two one time use IC RP Items and one permanent accessory, or you could claim three one time use IC RP Items. These roleplays or solos can come from ORPs, prompts, or mini games; you can repeat prompts to count for this! These roleplays do not have to be finished before the month ends, but we will be keeping our eyes on roleplays to make sure they are moving forward; we want to reward players for their activity, but if roleplays are being started and only played to word count without actually finishing, this will negatively impact how we choose to release more permanent accessories to the shop. Please try to finish all of the roleplays you start!
