Biting Chill -- Holiday '25 Prompt

Okay so he wasn't super against winter or anything, but this was freaking bad weather!

The wind chill ripped at his exposed skin at his arms, chest, and face--something he had prepared for! Kinda. Yetzirah had tucked away a long coat and scarf to carry with him once he'd powered up, bundled up inside both but still feeling the impact of the wind that night. Usually, he was pretty toasty! But uh. Nope. Not tonight. The long black coat swirled somewhat around his legs, brushing against his shins and lower thighs depending on how the wind caught the parts he hadn't buttoned shut. The white and blue scarf, on the other hand, was wrapped repeatedly around his head and neck, allowing for part to cover the lower section of his face and keep his nose from freezing off. There wasn't enough really loose for the wind to catch there, at least, and he could at least be comfortable enough in the fact his nose and ears weren't frigid.

Yet.

The wind seemed especially eager to at least try to demolish his protections.

Yetzirah gave a heavy sigh, watching as his breath leaked around the edge of his scarf and the white puff was snatched away by the wind. He was trying to be better about patrolling more, all that stuff. Meet more people. All good things! Bonus… he had admitted to himself that he really, really needed some lessons in how to fight. It was just a requirement at this point.

But! He had learned some lessons! Remembering the snow creature he had faced with Ekstrom, and given the gifts from Joy, Yetzirah was at least keeping a small blowtorch--a refillable butane gun, to be exact--in his pack of stuff in subspace these days. Useful for a bunch of stuff… but also? Great for when you needed a fire. And he couldn't help it--as he walked through this neck of a park, he glanced about this way and that, wary to see a moving lump of snow again or something. Wasn't like it would be a first time he'd encountered a hostile oddity in winter here.

He could sense another Order signature around, somewhere, and he'd been angling himself towards their direction along the snow-covered pathways. No Chaos signatures, no youma.

But most of the worst stuff that kept popping up in the city never had energy signatures, now did they? Not in these random weird events that cropped up around the holidays and the Star Festival.

So when he heard howling, the sound of something heavy crashing through the snow and ice, Yetzirah was freaked out, yeah, but not… not overly surprised? In retrospect, he was actually pretty proud of himself for not just trying to run! He heard it, faced towards the sound, moving only enough to get a few benches between the source and him. Was trying to be smarter about how he dealt with problems. More aware of his surroundings.

Still the whole issue of a weapon but he was trying!

His momentary preparation, though, his blip of bravery, quaked the moment he actually saw the massive wolf made of ice and who knew what else, snarling and eyes glowing through the wind and snow.

"....I would have preferred the creepy snowmen," Yetzirah whimpered beneath his scarf, ducking down slightly behind a bench. "Come on...."

It was like something out of one of his books, the teen thought with an expression that was half in shock and half in awe of the snowy wolf as he raced toward it. One second he was just trudging along through the snow, on his way home from a particularly long session at one of his favorite book cafes—as he promised his mother he was spending more time out of the house, granted not doing exactly what she said to do when she told him that he ought to—the next he saw the creature suddenly manifest out of thin air and settle in a snow bank, facing a figure in the distance.

He disappeared behind a cluster of trees on the way, reappearing from behind it as his knight self, still running now at breakneck speed toward the creature. Stopping short of it, though, he saw that the other figure was a fellow knight—he felt the Order signature, too—and grinned, waving to hopefully catch their attention.

And then he silently mimed a question—first he pointed at himself, then made a motion as though he was running, then he pointed at them, then the wolf, and then punched the air a few times. He repeated the sequence once more, then gave a thumbs up as if wanting him to confirm, a huge smile on his face all the while.

Clearly it didn't quite register that the wolf was likely more dangerous than he believed it to be. He had an inkling! Of course he did. Such things were dangerous in all of the books he's read. But the good guys always won out in the end! And they were the good guys, right? So of course they would also make it out of this perfectly fine.

The other Order signature zoomed (relatively) into his senses, and Yetzirah blinked rapidly, staring at the other figure now across the way. Another knight, another Page. He lifted a hand slowly, waving awkwardly--lot of green. He was trying to run through his head as to what knight--uh... type?--that was. Earth? No, symbol wasn't the same---

Yetzirah let out a huff of air as he realized the guy was making... miming motions? Fight? He figured, anyways. The wolf was still making its way towards him, though he saw the ears flick back towards the new arrival. It was clearly choosing to focus on the more immediate target, much to his horrid lack of luck.

He nodded his head vigorously, bringing out his weapon to show off the... not remotely impressive feather. It was weighted slightly at the end, but it wasn't enough to use it as a distraction to try and throw it. But he hoped the pathetic look of the thing would further convey he needed help!
