To begin, pick up to three Models (1 — 3) that you'd like to design for from the Project Catwalk Cycle 8 main competition thread, located HERE.
Next, simply recreate your selected Model(s) in the Avatar Builder, and design from there a canvas-wide ensemble outfit. It is essential that your overall design incorporates the entire frame, so make use of backgrounds and/or decor where fit. There are no themes you must adhere to, but your PC8 crew still expect original, comprehensive, high quality creations.
Once you've achieved your desired aesthetic, post your submissions in this thread, including: An image of your outfit, Designer name, Model name & an equipped list (pose included)
Auditions are open March 1st — March 19th (~three weeks), after which time the thread will be locked, and moved to the Archives subforum. Subsequently, the Head Judges will begin deciding who the successful candidates are immediately after Auditions close.
PM's will then be sent out to all the successful Auditions candidates, offering a permanent spot in the contest (which must be accepted). Failure to confirm a spot will result in it being given to the runner-up.
► For context/reference, please review previous Auditions threads in the Archives subforum ◄ ► Do not post anything but submissions in this thread — take chatting into the main forum ◄ ► Careful which Model(s) you pick, as their base traits can't change, and they affect designs ◄ ► You are welcome to reserve ONE post, to edit it at your leisure up until the deadline passes◄ ► If you plan on auditioning with more than one Model, please rally all of them into a single post ◄

. ♦ · ♥ . A Word to the Wise: Come With Strategy . ♠ · ♣ . ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ On Submission Content:
With so many fresh faces trying out for the new cycle, the Judges Panel wanted to share a bit about what we will be looking for in a successful audition.
The auditions are an opportunity for you to show off what you can do with total creative freedom, without being restricted by any prompts or challenge guidelines. While we do not formally score submissions, the qualities we assess for are much the same as what we use to grade your looks when the competition begins. Namely:
STYLE Put simply, Style refers to the visual appeal of your entry. Are the colors pleasant and harmonious with each other? Is the silhouette legible, or are any items clipping oddly? Most importantly, does the choice of clothing make an impact? The outfit should be the star of the show at Project Catwalk, as opposed to the more "scenic" or narrative-focused style favored elsewhere--while props and set pieces are certainly allowed, they should never outshine the fashion elements of your look.
MOTIF You can think of Motif as the concept behind your style. As you build, ask yourself: do the items I've chosen reflect the idea I'm hoping to portray? Does the design look intentional? What makes this look unique to me and my artistic vision? Our most successful designers can artfully tell a story through their creations, and share a part of themselves with us through their styling.
CREATIVITY This may be the most important factor during auditions, as you are not beholden to any particular theme or prompt that may restrict your choices. For Creativity, we look for outside-the-box thinking and novel ideas to wow us. Are you using multiple poses of the same item? Or perhaps relying too heavily on a site-made color scheme? Are the items you've chosen unique or unorthodox? Now is the time to be bold and innovative--an unconventional entry that takes some risks (even if it's not perfect) may be viewed more favorably over something that looks pleasant at a glance, but has been played too safe.
DESCRIPTION While this is not a required element during auditions, the Description is often where our Designers lose points during the early phases of the competition. A good Description will tell us the "what, why, and how" of your design: what the concept is; why you made the choices you did; and lastly how you achieved it. If there's something you love about your design or concept, it can't hurt at this stage to write a few words to elaborate on it.
Auditions aren't over until they're over, and you can make adjustments to your look up until the window closes. Use this time wisely! If you feel like you can't compete with other entries for your favorite model, or are having doubts about working around her required features through the length of the competition, switching up may work in your favor. There will be opportunities to switch to another model down the road... if you can get a win under your belt!
Now, with all that said: happy designing, and show us what you've got! heart
On Model Selection:
Please heed this message, whether you're a guild newbie that's hoping to get into their first cycle, or an old PC veteran, looking to get back into the game: There is a perfectly good reason that we allow our prospective Designers the opportunity to audition with up to three (3) Models. The reason being that a Designer can only join the competition with a Model they've tried out with ... and three chances are better than one!
To put it another way, if you audition with Models W, X and Y, you cannot join the competition as a Designer for Model Z, even if your design skills exceed that of those who've auditioned with Model Z. Your only competition would be from other prospective Designers that have submitted auditions with Models W, X, and/or Y. And comforting to know that if you were to bomb one submission, it wouldn't ruin your chances of making it into the competition.
Additionally, every hopeful Designer benefits from their competitors submitting multiple Models. Think about it: If one of your submissions is second best, and the Designer whose submission is above yours is chosen as a candidate for a different Model they submitted for, that would make your entry the new best option.
And finally, be sure to keep an eye on how many other hopeful Designers are vying for your desired Models, as there are always a few Models in every cycle that Gaians flock to, for whatever reason. And while those few Models collect 20+ entries each, others get only one or two entrants. When your odds of making it into a cycle are 5% or 50%, your smartest move is to take the better deal, and at the very least, get your foot in the door.
Securing a place in the contest with a Model you're less than fond of doesn't have to be the end of your Model-pair desires, as the contest does contain an opportunity to switch to a Model you may desire more: Top Designers of a challenge get the choice of changing their Model with the eliminated Designer's Model. So, with a hefty amount of talent, and just a bit of luck, you could find yourself paired with your dream Model after all.
Remember, there's only one Designer per Model, so use your entries wisely.

Break free from the dollhouse, marionette. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with Henri as soon as I saw her. Her delicate beauty suggests softness and mystery, a doll through and through. But in this contest, will that empyrean beauty be enough to clear all the challenges ahead?
I wanted to both compliment her natural beauty, but also show how she is ready to free herself from the strings and evolve, prove she is much more than a porcelain doll that will sit still and be pretty. Running through the forest and into a new, unknown, yet exciting world meant tearing away petticoats, skirts and shoes not made for walking, and maybe she came out with a scratch or two.... But isn't there beauty in that freedom?
Simple and clean. Kim is bold and confident, and no stranger to turning looks..... So, it's fair to say that I didn't want to clutter her outfit too much right from the bat. I wanted to display her charm with two statement pieces: a little red dress, flowy, vibrant, and compliments her complexion while bringing some welcome contrast to the black oversized blazer. Two basics which she pairs masterfully and elevates into an outfit fit for a magazine cover, because she is anything but basic.
Beneath the lanterns, we'll meet. with this one, I wanted to create a look that both honored Haoran's heritage and introduced a colorful, vibrant twist. Playing with layering, sheer fabrics and complimenting it with some vegetation that framed her nicely I wanted to create a mysterious aura. Maybe, you were bewitched by her while wandering the festival....
Aand there we go! ✨ thanks for reading along and best of luck to everyone! Looking forward to how the tournament goes, thanks for inviting me to join ☺
𝐼𝓃𝑔𝒶'𝓈 𝐿𝑜𝑜𝓀: . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. For this round of auditions, I knew that I wanted one of my looks to be an exploration of scale, and when I found the sunflower that fit Inga's hair/eye color scheme, I knew that I wanted to build around it. Inga is a tiny pixie taking a break from flight by resting in her favorite field. She's scraped up at her knees from all her mystical mischief, but that doesn't stop her from 𝓼𝓮𝓻𝓿𝓲𝓷𝓰.
. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.𝒮𝒶𝓁𝑜𝓂𝑒'𝓈 𝐿𝑜𝑜𝓀:. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. As I was looking through the model pool, Salome immediately spoke to me. What did she say, you ask? She said 5 words... "let these girls HAVE it" and that's the energy that I wanted her to embody in this look. I mean come ON. LOOK AT HER. She brings an effortless beauty that nobody can deny. I pictured her, clad in silver, contrasting her skin, with fabric waving in the air as she dances in the moonlight.
. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.𝒞𝑜𝓁𝑒𝓉𝓉𝑒'𝓈 𝐿𝑜𝑜𝓀: As soon as I saw Colette in the model pool with her icy blue, unfeeling eyes and platinum blonde hair, I knew that I wanted to play around with her aesthetic. My first choice was a creepy doll look, but I felt like choosing soft pastels was too obvious of a choice. I also felt like she was a bit too static in her original positioning. So, I opted to move her into a more bold direction. I knew that I wanted, instead, to incorporate fiery reds to contrast her cloudy eyes. And her battle pose was inspired by my favorite movie, Kill Bill. Colette and The Bride have a lot in common; they are both blonde samurai who would absolutely kill 88 Yakuza gang member if they had to.

This is the first time I audition for this, so please let me know if I did anything wrong! Thank you for the invitation! heart
Edit: After the clarifications from the judges, I have gone ahead and altered my entries. I will contain some info regarding it in each description!
Designer: Starry-Tiger Model name: Eevi Title: Sweet Zone Description: I wanted to create something that matches her hair colour, and the Sweetheart colour scheme worked perfectly. I started adding fun decorations for some playfulness, leading to the whole look taking on a kind of dreamy look.
Post clarification changes: De-cluttered the background and changed the armmod to bring the focus onto the clothes. Worked more yellow into the outfit, but still relying mainly on the Sweetheart scheme. Status: Completed Equipment list:

Designer: Starry-Tiger Model name: Bea Title: Demurely loved Description: Working again with Bea’s colours, I wanted to create something softer and a bit lowkey for her. I ended up going for a toycore look with earthy tones (Demure colour scheme). I also had a happy accident with the layered background, making it look like there are multiple rooms behind her.
Post clarification changes: De-cluttered the background some, but kept a majority because I was very happy with it. Changed the armmod to bring the focus onto the outfit. Did some edits to the outfit itself, but did not lean away much from the colour scheme. Status: Completed Equipment list:
Demure Hop (my cozy room) Creamy Spoilt Milk (Jacket v1) Practical Neko-opolis (Maid Ears) Portrait of a Demure Hare Elegant Ivory Invitation (frame) Blossoming Sleepy Season (Blushy Blushy) ✦ Dozy Demure ✦ Demure Fresh Ambition (Background) ミ★ Demure Mourning Glory ★彡 (Legs - Tone B) Demimi Nekokei (Bows) Imbuing Passionate Magic (Bells) Famous Mimi Nekokei (Dress)

Designer: Starry-Tiger Model name: Wren Title: Pixie Fantasy Description: For Wren’s dark hair, I wanted to make something that contrasted well, and made her pop out more than the other models. I settled for the Pixie Stick colour scheme, and worked my way towards a flower-based elegant fantasy look.
Post clarification changes: De-cluttered the background greatly. Worked more yellow into the outfit to separate it a bit from the Pixie Stick scheme, but it's one of my favourite schemes so I'm still keeping it, hahaha. Status: Completed Equipment list:

Excited to try out for this! Hello my name is Farrah! This is my first time auditioning so please forgive me if I messed something up.
Model: Kim - Kim has my favorite look amongst the models. My initial thought was to go the Cruella De Vil route until I found the purple headpiece. From there all I could think about was Lady Gaga and her Mayhem album. I'm actually going to see her on tour soon so I definitely drew inspiration from her looks.
Model: Inga - For Inga the goal was clear, she needed to look ethereal and wealthy. I found a cool arm and leg combo that worked with the Your Angel cutter. With the fabric of the dress removed I thought a gold belt would compliment the new silhouette. I played around with a beach background for a bit before landing on the golden sky/meadow combination. It made me think of what the world looks like with sunglasses on.
Model: Araceli - This is technically the first look that I finished. Back when my overall theme was going to be flowers since we're finally approaching spring. I chose Araceli because I felt like her rich skin tone and warm brown hair looked good with the deep red of the gown. Inspired by some of the visuals of the album Froot by Marina and the Diamonds.
Designer: mayuralover Model #2: Henrietta Theme: A Walk in the Park About the Look: Kinda went for a soft bride look first and she evolved to just a lovely lady taking a walk in the park. The transparency of the sleeves is repeated with the transparency of the dress, and I love the combo on her. Outfit:
Designer: mayuralover Model #3: Araceli Theme: Mystic Fortune Teller About the Look: I dove into what her calling would be, and I could totally see Araceli as a fortune teller or some kind of mystic. Outfit:
Model: Henrietta Theme: Titania About the look: When I looked at the bases she seemed so ethereal to me, so I made her into the queen of the faeries (note: Yes I liked this so much that yes i changed my avatar to match it)
Model: Brigid Outfit: Theme: Picnic Date About the Look: gaia_sakuraShe's so excited to show you the perfect picnic location.gaia_sakura I wanted to make something that would draw attention to the model's hair without overdoing the orange tones but still looking bright and sunny. Equip list:
Blossom Festival (bandeau) I am Honeysuckle Flowers (legs tone A) Honeysuckle Usa Usa Chan (dress) Honeysuckle Pastoral Picnic (arms v1) Sophia's Summertime Shade (fruit salad) Dreamy Landscapes (leaves) Vile Reject Normalcy (spotlights) Sleeping Willow (willow background) Angel's Piercing
Model: Colette Outfit: Theme: Ghost in a Garden About the Look: emotion_ghostA ghost from a bygone era haunts the grounds whenever it rains. Some believe she may have caught her death in the very same weather.emotion_ghost Initially I wanted to play off the Dandelion color scheme but then realized the colors resembled the Astherie color scheme which is one of my favorites for its pastel ethereal glow. A ghostly narrative was soon to follow. Equip list:
Konpeito Peep Sheep Candied Anniversairerine (dress) Ghostly Ruffles (sickly) Fallen Astherie Mine Mine Mine (arms) Fallen Astherie Mine Mine Mine (legs) Dandelion Neck Ribbon Grim's Dominion (mauve) Under Bright Weather Too (background) Astra: Rosy Radiance (still) Rainy Day (steady rain) Agape's Cut The Haunting (fog overlay)
Model: Marisol Outfit: Theme: Cabaret Show About the Look: When I saw Marisol's luscious curls and rouged lips I was vaguely reminded of saloons and speakeasies and flapper fashion, so that's what I was aiming for with this. Originally I had been trying to work entirely around the Jolly Frolic item, but then shifted to mixing and matching other pieces. It was a struggle to find a feather boa-like item that fit the way I was imagining and didn't cause clipping. Equip list:
Heart Couture (catharsis) Jolly Frolic (kick!) L'Nouvelle de Mephiste (briar's masquerade bodice) Ornate Midnight Frosted Heirloom (hands v1) Ascendant of the Independent Sea Ascension (earrings) Undaunted Snake Charmer (stage) Gino's Hollywood Spotlight SQUIN x rheostatic: Flush (Chauntelle) The Eyeshadow (coral) White Tropical Dancer Headband
