"Let's see...I needed eggs, right? Yeah, that was a thing. And then--fuuuuh, I forgot to check the milk. Maybe I'll get it just in case..." Her brow furrowed as she stared down at her phone, tapping out her last minute grocery list as she strolled down the sidewalk. It was really her fault for waiting so long to do this, but 'in a few minutes' became 'when I'm finished with this task' became 'THE GROCERY STORE CLOSES IN THIRTY MINUTES'. And so here was Vivian, hair thrown up in a messy bun, a random tank top and the first pair of shorts she was able to find without wasting too much time. Despite her time crunch she still walked, not ran, down the sidewalk toward the store.

The woman had been back in Destiny City for all of a week and completely forgotten she needed to get groceries. It'd been nice of her brother to get her started, but he only gave her enough to last her until she went grocery shopping. She'd just been so busy unpacking!

"I should probably also get some cake mix to hold me over until I've got everything set up. Oh, and I need to find a store with a garden center to get seeds--" This isn't like you, Vivian! You don't usually drop the ball like this!

Behind the strolling person of the women, a small figure that cast a long shadow silently followed, sometimes stopping still and letting the other get a block ahead before flickering and appearing only a few steps from that distracted back. Half in shadow, the doll-like face was solemn but held the weight of disapproval.

So distracted while alone at night in this of all cities.

How careless.

But some lessons simply had to be failed first, felt first, before they could be properly learned. It was rare for her to offer any such lessons to civilians. They existed to be either treated gently, or used to other purpose as needed. However, the night was both young and slow, and the things getting under Hestia's skin as of late weren't anything to acknowledge let alone address just yet.

It was time...

To shine.

The words were mouthed and for the briefest half second, something seemed to hit the screen of Vivian's phone before a blinding glare of light burst from the screen's surface.

Sailor Scout Attack: Time to Shine!

(debuff) A palm-sized scouring blast hits a surface, cleaning it to a highly polished state that creates an eye-searing glare. Most often used on her brooch to create a carebear stare-like attack.

"Oh, but I'm not thinking big enough, maybe a few.." The young woman continued to mumble quietly to herself, perhaps incapable of keeping her inner thoughts to inside her head. So distracted by her phone was she that she completely missed her shadow. It was indeed a lesson she was going to have to relearn after her time away from Destiny City. But when one needed groceries so they wouldn't starve, could you really blame them?

Suddenly her phone screen brightened up, and in her confusion her eyes widened. "What th--AGH!" Instantly she regretted her actions, but she had no time to think too hard on it as she released the phone to desperately press the heels of her palms against her eyes. She could still see spots of color and light even with her eyes closed! What the hell was that?! She stumbled back, missing a few steps until her back hit hard against a nearby building she was able to lean back against.

What the hell was that?! Vivian's eyes blinked rapidly as she tried to adjust. Everything was over-exposed and blue, as if she had just stepped out of a dark room into a bright sunny day with no eye protection, and she flinched, wincing with pain. Bleary-eyed, she pushed off the wall and began to search for where her phone had fallen on the ground. Was she suffering from a migraine? That was weird. She'd felt fine earlier... "Uff... fuuuuuck.."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 14, 2026 12:37 pm

A gentle voice asked nearby, "Miss, are you alright? Do you need any help?" The weird went from bad to worse as a stream of purple energy, invisible to the civilian eye, began to flow out and away from Vivian.

"Would you like me to call emergency services?" The voice was even closer now, as a pair of feet stepped right next tot he fallen phone.

Vivian stumbled a bit as she bent down to snatch her phone up off the ground. Ugh, her head was swimming. A hand came up to rub circles into her temple as she stood in place, swaying slightly. Was her phone broken? It didn't look like it. There was a slight ding on the corner here, but the case seemed to do its job taking most of the impact. "Huh?" She looked up as a voice called out to her, and she lifted her gaze from the phone to the woman approaching from nearby. What... the hell?

Ugh. Her head. Why did she suddenly feel so sick? Vivian shook her head, blinked rapidly, and stumbled back a bit. Something about this woman wasn't right. What was she wearing? Was this a weird cosplay? She didn't think she'd heard anything about conventions nearby right now. "Oh, uh. No. I think. I think I'm good right now? I think I just... need a minute... or maybe to call for a ride home. My head is.." One hand tightened around her phone and brought it closer to her chest, protective of the device, as her other hand slowly began to slide down and into a small purse hanging off her shoulder. "Maybe some help would be nice.. uh... who are you?"

Bacchus had decided to put on a show of being “responsible” this evening, making a dramatic exit from the apartment he shared with his friend for a very productive patrol. The fact that it would last only as long as it took him to get to the club didn’t seem like a relevant detail.

As long as he was wearing this stupid ******** defective fuku he was working, after all, right? He hadn’t bothered to ask that question because the answer was ultimately irrelevant. It didn’t make all that much of a difference whether he worked or not, but keeping up the appearance would hopefully be enough to deter the unwanted interrogations that accompanied his less than dignified exit from Almadel’s ridiculous hoard. For all of the merchant’s gracious airs, his decision to leave such ambiguous and nondescript warnings by that pit betrayed a streak within him that was less than hospitable.

Bacchus huffed softly, trying to blow loose the memory before the unwelcome itch of a powerful Chaos energy signature prickled against his own aura. <********.

Really?

They could never just allow him a night for himself.

The Tuath man managed an uncharacteristic quiet as he maneuvered toward the source of his irritation. They were tangibly stronger than he was, but even in a fight he lost he was capable of blacking an eye, or so he hoped.

“s**t.”

The profanity slipped softly from his lips at the realization that the rootless p***k he’d been tracking had already sunk her proboscis into an unfortunate passerby. Hoping to take advantage of the parasite’s distraction, Bacchus slowly unwound the sash from his body and sprang forward, attempting to catch it around the corrupt senshi’s neck and drive his knee into the small of her back. If nothing else, spooking the civilian into flight would still be a victory.

The civilian's body language was wary, though it must be rather hard to concentrate now. Good. Was that really enough, though? For her to remember to be afraid? The bleach-like aura of Order appeared at the edge of Hestia's senses and her sigh was audible as the weaker senshi came closer instead of veering away.

It would have to be a different sort of lesson.

"Okay," she agreed solemnly. "My name is Hestia." She waited for the attack, pleased they were at least doing so from the back, while she was draining off energy. That was, at least, a slightly less egregious approach.

Something caught her around the throat as a blunt, but strong force hit behind her knees. A physical attack, and while not quite unarmed, close enough to it. In other words: a mistake.

Hestia began falling backward and then she simply wasn't there at all. Until she reappeared on the other side of the civilian and flung her into a wall with car crash force.

"Good evening," the corrupt eternal greeted him in solemn tones, her figure still small and shadow growing ever longer.

Vivian's hand closed around something in her bag, something that still remained unseen as she watched the strange woman with increasingly heavy eyes. Her body wanted to lie down, but something in her was refusing to. Her breath quickened, and her chest felt tight. Oh god, was she having another panic attack? No. No no no no no! Not now! "Hestia? Like the goddess? That's--what the <********>" And now someone was choking the weird cosplay woman?! She gasped, eyes widening at the sight of another strange man coming up behind Hestia and attacking her. "W-wait, what is..! What..?" Where did she... go...?

Did she stumble onto a movie set or something? Was she not meant to be here? She didn't recall seeing any road blocks.

Suddenly a force was shoving into her and she let out a shocked shriek. Her head slammed against the building wall and the world briefly went white. In her panic, the hand that had been hidden in her bag finally whipped out with something in her hand now aimed at Hestia. She pressed down on the top of the small bottle, releasing the mace spray in what she hoped was the weird woman's face. "HELP! GET OFF ME! WHAT IS GOING ON!? GET AWAY FROM ME! WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!" Vivian attempted to skitter away on her backside, her feet pushing against the ground and her free hand supporting behind her. If she had to empty the whole can in this woman's face she would!

He’d forgotten about the ******** teleportation, they always had more ways to make themselves insufferable.

Bacchus’ nostrils flared as rage crept nauseous up his throat. Pathetic cowardice, it seemed, remained Chaos’ strategy of choice.

“Oh ******** OFF.”

Whatever dramatic evil flourish Hestia intended to add with her nonchalance sailed past the deep space senshi’s mind with little impact. A casual a*****e was still an a*****e.

“Whatever this paper-theatre villain wants to call herself, she’s no god. She’s nothing but another rootless godsdamned parasite this world needs to evict.” He knew that positioning himself between the civilian and the mass of walking brainrot wouldn’t do anything to deter her from that ridiculous teleportation trick but there was a possibility that it might do something to give the civilian a reassuring illusion.

“There’s a chance that this is going to hit you too, but it’s not as bad as whatever she wants to feed you.”

With a deep inhale he shouted, “DIZZYING MIRTH!”

Super Sailor Scout Attack: Dizzying Mirth
Sailor Bacchus raises his arms, emitting a shining mist from between them and a raucous melody floats through the air. Enemies engulfed in the mist find themselves compelled to join in the revelry, overwhelmed with a sense of giddiness, disorientation, and a powerful urge to dance to the music. This pushes aside other thoughts and makes it very difficult to engage in combat. Through force of will, they may be able to shake the feeling and resume combat.

Range -- A circle, 15 feet in diameter and centered on Sailor Bacchus

Hestia couldn't help backing away as the civilian sprayed the with an eye searing mist. She'd forgotten civilians would be casually armed like that. Careless. A small lesson for herself, then. The senshi had a lively gutter tongue, but his heart was in the right place, coming between herself and the civilian. Maybe she'd even let that little maneuver do some actual good.

Dizzying Mirth.

Sher gave a polite curtsy as the music began, and intoned, "The Sparkling Finish," as she began to dance. Bacchus might not have saved himself from the slick, blindingly bright area of her magic, but he kept her far enough away that the woman on the ground was outside of it. Moving in the circle of his magic and immune to the inconveniences of her own, Hestia's attention began to reel away with the rhythm.

----

Oh thank Clawed, the Eternal b***h of Maids was finally distracted! Creedence had been following Grocery Girl and planning on huicing her up with magic on the way home from the store, but noooo. She had to get stalked by a familiar menace. Jumping down from her vantage point of the whole ******** of a fight, she landed near the soon-to-be ex-civilian and immediately regretted it. She tried to start her whole spiel about being strong and not a loser, but instead just emitted a few pathetic kitty coughs. Oh man her eyes were burning! If they weren't so physically wimpy, civilians might be better armed to defend themselves than most supers, jeez!

Just barely managing to breath, she slapped a henshin pen at the the woman's chest while the weird super kept the corrupt occupied. "Andromeda....Power," cough, "..Make! Up!"

The words, from the cat's mouth seemed both right and wrong, for more than the ovious talking cat reason. They were the right words, but the wrong person was saying them. They were Vivian's words. Andromeda's. In all the infinite worlds of an ever expanding universe, they were hers alone.

User ImageOhhhh this was a mistake. Oh. Oh no. This was a mistake. From he moment Vivian let out her first cough she knew she'd ******** up. She released the spray nozzle and turned her head away, shutting her eyes tightly and scrambling away from the crazy bat witch maid person and whatever the hell that weird... dungeons and dragons cosplay psycho was over there yelling. The mace was tossed aside to free her hand as she covered her mouth to cough a few more times, waving that hand every now and then as if it would protect her. Leaving the space was certainly enough but-- AHH! SOMETHING WAS ON HER CHEST! SOMETHING WAS ON HER CHEST! Her eyes opened wide to see a... cat?

A cat?! Oh no! It was coughing! "O-oh no! Kitty! Oh ******** oh god did you get caught up in the--oh god kitty I'm... so... sorry?" What was this? Time to Vivian seemed to slow as she plucked up an item off her chest. Bright gold metal, a purple handle, and what was this weird symbol? What was this thing? Her eyes narrowed as she inspected it curiously, but something in her seemed excited. Why did she feel oddly calm looking at it?

What was it someone had just sad? "Andromeda Power Make Up?" In her head she thought it was just a whisper, but suddenly the world was bright and loud. There were flashes of light and color everywhere. The sounds of crashing waves filled her ears, and swirling bubbles popping all around her.

And then it was over.

And before Hestia, the strange man, and the cat, stood a very very confused young woman. It was still her, but what now?! She looked down at her suddenly gloved hands. Those weren't there a second ago.

What was this dress? And--a bow? What... why did she look like this? Why did she feel different? She felt...

She felt right.

She felt whole.

Andromeda inhaled deeply, blinking a few times as her brain struggled to process a hundred things at once.

"What.. is... going on...?" Finally she looked up, first at the woman who had called herself Hestia dancing away, then the odd man who had made her dance, and then finally to the cat.

“Oh you rootless-“ Bacchus struggled to remain upright in the obnoxious glare of the other senshi’s attack, ultimately failing in this endeavor and sliding across the ground as the ******** pranced away. Fighting the urge to chase after the parasite, he turned toward the newly minted senshi.

“s**t.”

He looked the young woman up and down.

Yep.

The Galaxy Cauldron had definitely saddled this unfortunate with its weighty demands and now she was as trapped as anyone else. With a sigh he hauled himself up to his full height, peering down at her while he weighed the right and wrong ways to break the news. The cat would probably be better at that, but she hadn’t spent the past millennium in this mess.

“Well, looks like you’re stuck with us. All of us.”

Bacchus threw his arms out as he spoke.

“You’ve got magic now too and it’s going to be a right ********’ mess. Sorry about that.”

He decided to spare her the details of just how badly things could go wrong if someone didn’t hit all the right steps in their dance. Bit early to drop that on someone. Nasty surprise down the road if it happened, but addressing that was well beyond his capacity for the moment.

Another exhausted exhale escaped him. “How are you feeling. With all of-” he gestured vaguely around them.

If you'd like I could drop in my eternal senshi who isn't quite as cranky and cynical as Bacchus to give her a less gloomy assessment.

For a moment, Creedence was glad the super decided to take a moment to help onboard the newbie. Then he opened his mouth. With every grim word, she felt her fur stiffening and ears flattening.

"Listen Andromeda! Every party has a this type of guy," she jabbed a paw toward Bacchus. "An Eeyore, you know? That's just his archetype, but you're new! Fast! Powerful! And capable of things you'd never dreamed of before!"

And then she jabbed that same paw at the corrupted maid, gracefully dancing in the glow of her own magic. There wasn't much time left before they got her attention again, and Creedence refused to allow on of her senshi tun away on their first awakening. Or at least getting a good hit in!

"Including kicking her a**!"

What.

The ******** GOING ON?!

The cat is talking. The background character of Legend of Vox Machina was talking to her now and didn't seem terribly thrilled. The cat. Is. Talking. Green eyes were wide with confusion, just confusion. Not necessarily terror. Just what the <********>? And there was Hestia, dancing in the back still. "I.. what? But... you're a... cat.. and... I... huh? Magic? But how--what--how am I feeling? Really ******** confused right now. What am I wearing?! What just... kick her a**!?" Andromeda whirled around on her heel to face Hestia again. Despite everything she moved with a dancer's grace, her feet seeming to naturally settle into a resting position that was ready to move forward. "HOW!?" She watched the maid dancing away, studying her movements with the slightest of eye movements darting in the directions she was moving. Her brow furrowed, she frowned, a look of concentration as her head tilted slowly to one side and her arms moved just slightly in a less exaggerated mimicry of Hestia's movements. "I don't get it she's just dancing...?"

“The ******** is an Eeyore?” Bacchus was fairly certain that it was an insult, definitely sounded like one, and while he couldn’t exactly blame the Mauvian for being put off, he didn’t see much point in lying to the kid. The magnificent crashing of that planet’s house of lies where he was concerned was more than enough to convince him of that. It would have hurt less if they’d told him, if not the truth, then something closer to it than the fantasy that he would be some kind of hero. There was a chance that they’d believed that themselves but when things got bad he’d relieved them of that notion.

Eh, ******** it.

“Cat’s right though, kicking the s**t out of these parasites is the only way things’ll get better.” Even if he wasn’t entirely certain that things could get better, it at least gave him that brief pop of satisfaction when he managed to convince them to take their bloodsucking elsewhere.

“Give her what you can and I’ll back you up once she gets tired of the dance.”

He moved his head from side to side, cracking his neck. Least he could do was try to keep her from getting turned into a greasy stain on the ground right after her awakening.
