Her job, as a 'Knight', if such a thing could even be believed - which she did not, entirely, in spite of the evidence to the contrary - was to connect with something called a 'Wonder'. She didn't really know what that was or how to access it, never mind connect with it, so she focused on the other part of her job: patrolling.

It sounded very silly. Yes, look at me, I'm a soldier or a police officer, protecting everyone from evil-doers everywhere. It was patently absurd, but it was, also, happening, so...

So, Linnea - or, as she was apparently to be known now, Cristal, which was both terribly pretentious and just classy enough to make it worth saying at all - was out and about. She didn't really know what she was supposed to do if she came across someone Doing Evil, since literally all she had to deal with it was a feather, but...perhaps she could sweet-talk them, convince them it wasn't in their better interest to continue Doing Evil. All else failing, maybe she could bribe them - surely even Evil Doers needed some cash on occasion, right?

She just hoped it wouldn't come to that and she could spend the time spinning.

Literally, spinning - she could move so much faster now, had so much more power. Maybe there was a future in Knight Ballet...? She was so focused on her ballotté that she didn't even notice the approaching Chaos aura - or the approaching Order aura. In that moment, all she cared about was her déboulés and her plié - not any aura of any kind.

Another night, another patrol. The aura of Chaos was getting much easier to latch onto these days, and it had Andromeda rushing toward it. She had started on foot, but was quickly realizing there were buildings between her and it. And there was another aura as well she could feel! Someone must've already been fighting it. She should help.

Andromeda wasn't entirely sure what it was about scaling buildings and rooftops she loved so much, but something about it just felt right. Plus, it was fun to hop up daintily onto a street light, then onto a ledge, to another ledge, to a fire escape, to a roof. It was so superhero-like. She finally stopped when she reached the rooftop, walking slowly and looking down around her. It.. was riiiight over... "there!" She exclaimed almost too excitedly when she saw it.

It was almost humanoid, shambling slightly taller than the average person. Maybe like.. if she had to guess, seven feet tall? With long, gangly limbs and massive black wings dragging behind it, it had landed near a woman nearby who was--oh no. A good way to get attacked indeed. Large, circular red eyes literally glowed with delight as it slowly closed in on what looked like easy prey. It lifted its long arms, overly large clawed hands curling and ready to make a grab, and a large mouth full of sharp white teeth suddenly revealed itself as it seemed to smile.

Not good!

"LOOK OUT!" Andromeda called out as she pulled her gloves off and leapt off the rooftop. She clasped her hands together in front of herself, raising them as she descended through the air and then bending her whole body forward with her hands in an attempt to slam her fists down on the weird wannabe Mothman's head. "Andromeda's Sting!" She called out as she pounced down on the youma. Perhaps it was from all of her practice, all of her visits to Andromeda, her urge to protect, or simply luck, but Andromeda could feel the magic coursing over her skin as she slammed down hard on the youma. Time to take advantage of this. She slipped her arms around its throat, careful to avoid that large mouth, and wrapped her bare legs around its torso to get as much out of her magic as she could.

"I've got it! But only for so long!" She grunted, clinging to the youma as it shrieked and struggled against her, reaching back with its long arms to claw at the pesky senshi.

Quote:
Not that it's being used on Cristal but for reference!

Andromeda's Sting!
When using her magic, Sailor Andromeda's body becomes as dangerous as a jellyfish's tendrils. Touching exposed skin will feel like a nasty sting for as long as contact is made. The longer a target is held, the more uncomfortable, and painful, the sensation will grow until subsiding on its own. This can be done to as many enemies as she is able to make physical contact with until the magic ends. While not much of an actual fighter; Andromeda's Sting is best used to incapacitate, she holds and someone else punches so to speak.
This magic lasts for 30 seconds and can be used 3 times per battle.
Players can choose to take lasting damage in the form of residual stings or rashes if they choose.

Cristal was just reaching the conclusion of a beautiful series of leaps and bows when--

Well, when it seemed like a portal from Hell opened up and there was just--a straight up demon, grinning at her, reaching for her hand like he was her partner in the worst dance of her life.

Cristal barely had time to scream, a piercing noise, before something--someone--fell onto the creature like a sack of bricks. That pesky feeling, like an itch she couldn't quite reach, aligned itself more forcefully in her brain: bad guy, it tells her, currently being choke-holded by good guy, with bright red hair and, apparently, a body made of static electricity.

Cristal - panicked. She was making weird little doubtful stressful panicked noises, looking from the demon to the girl to all she had to offer: a feather. A feather! She wanted to run, but something about those eyes, or maybe the girl's command, kept her rooted to the spot.

"Uh...uh....uh...." Cristal looked around frantically, her eyes landing on--ah ha! Cristal ran, the wind beneath her feet moving her to her target: a large rock, or maybe a piece of asphalt from the last time they did construction around here. Either way, it was heavy, jagged, and just big enough to clobber someone--something with.

Cristal ran back to the battle, hesitating once again as the pair of them struggled, but she finally saw an opening, so she--darted forward, shut her eyes and turned away in disgust, and did her best to hammer the hell out of the strange, winged, demon-monster that had chosen now to arrive on scene. She didn't hit it very well - being as it's hard to aim with your eyes closed - but she did hit it, and she kept hitting it with the rock, as hard as she could.

Huh?! Where was she going?! Andromeda watched with worry as the other woman suddenly ran away. Was she supposed to fight this thing on her own?! I mean... sure?! If she had to?! She at least knew by now she only had about thirty seconds of this before her magic waned, so she'd just endure the clawing at herself until--oh. Oh that worked. Green eyes widened as the woman came back and started hammering blindly at it. Okay, that was creative! That worked!

Oh, but she had noticed something. Andromeda winced as claws dragged at bare shoulders, hurting her but also itself in the process. "I don't have much time left on this... try..." The youma began to flap its wings, desperate and uncomfortable. "Can you do fouettés?" Ohhhh how she hoped her assumption was correct. Please, please, please know what a fouetté is!

"What?" Cristal squeaked, eyes widening as the creature slashed through the other girl's shoulders like they were made of butter, rather than flesh and blood and bone. Was this girl seriously asking her about ballet positions right now?? Cristal had to look down to double-check she hadn't accidentally gone back to her regular clothes, causing this girl to recognize her as the local ballet teacher, but no.

"Of course I can do fouettés!" Cristal managed, as offended at the implication otherwise as she was confused why this was even coming up at all. "What are you--"

And then she got it. Oh. Oh! "Oh!!"

Cristal retreated a step or two, not far, and did not take the time she usually did to set herself into the most graceful position to start from, because she could tell the other girl was getting tired and there was no way she could hang on much longer, and with the extra strength and endurance being in this form gave her, she probably didn't need to be as precious as she had to be on the stage--

She spun, and spun, and spun, focusing more on picking up steam than on perfect lines and graceful balance, and then lets her leg fly out and collide with the creature.

It does perhaps the most baffling thing it has done since it appeared (aside from the act of appearing in and of itself) - it disappears into a pile of dust. Cristal gapes at it, then blinks and shakes her head and looks back at the girl who had--who had saved her.

"Are you okay?? We should--we should get you to a hospital, that looks...bad," Cristal said, starting to reach toward the girl's shoulders before she stops herself; any contact not by a trained professional would probably make it worse.

Oh god. Oh god. She had misjudged. Was she a self-trained dancer? Or a not-trained-at-all dancer and was just dancing for fun? Plan B. Gotta come up with a Plan B on the fly. She felt that tingle across her skin disappearing, and the youma continued to shriek now in anger rather than pain. Oh ********! Andromeda gasped, releasing the creature and regaining her footing. There was blood dripping down her bare shoulders, sure, but there was also no time to worry about that right now. The woman, by this point Andromeda was going to assume a knight? Maybe a new one? She didn't have much to go off, Maus was pretty established in who he was and what he could do. But she was coming her way just as she had hoped, and as the youma came at her she swung around herself to give it a hard kick away from herself and into the knight instead.

When the youma finally dissipated into a cloud of dust Andromeda let out a heavy sigh of relief and started to relax, but also flinched and winced as she finally registered the pain. She waved a hand, reaching back behind herself and pulling a small pink carrier out from her subspace. "I should be okay," she assured her as she opened what appeared to be a travel-sized first aid kit. "I probably shouldn't go to a hospital like this, they'd have no idea what to do with me, I think." Andromeda offered the woman a smile. Haha. Get it? Funny? A joke? Because they're magical girls?

Right.

Anyway.

"Sailor Andromeda, by the way. Are you all right? I saw you were distracted and thought I'd jump in," literally, "it happened to me once. I was doing pretty much the same thing." While she spoke she found a bench to sit on, and took the time to open up a small packet of antiseptic and unwrap a pack of gauze. "An agent came out of nowhere, but he was like 'hey maybe that's a bad idea' and I was like oh s**t maybe you're right. Surprisingly nice guy? Anyway.." She turned her attention to cleaning the wounds, turning her head as best as she could and dabbing carefully at them with cotton swaps and antiseptic. She hissed, but she endured it. "I'm just glad you're okay. Good kicks, by the way!"

"I'm--Cristal," Cristal said, barely catching herself from saying her real name. "I am, evidently, a Page of Cosmos. Please don't ask me what that means." Cristal gave the girl a small, shy, mostly-wry smile and shook her head.

"May I?" Cristal gently took the first aid materials from the girl to attend to the scratches for her, since she had a better angle on the situation. "Thank you for--what was that thing?" Cristal asked, looking over her shoulder at the dissipated dust that used to be a for-sure demon.

"And how do you know what a fouetté is?" Cristal couldn't help but ask, raising her eyebrows at the girl as she carefully cleaned the wounds. "Do you dance?"

Andromeda smiled again, looking up briefly at Cristal before turning back to her shoulder. "It's nice to meet you, Cristal! I've only met one Knight so far, and he knew what he was about. So I'm guessing by 'Page' you're new at this, and Cosmos... I don't know them, but that's likely the royal body you... serve under?" Her nose wrinkled then, either from pain or from uncertainty on her word choice.

She blinked and looked up at Cristal again, then nodded and shifted her arm to position herself for the other woman. The scratches were deep, and would probably need stitches, but the bleeding had slowed down at least to where they could at least clean and bandage her up until she could actually see a proper doctor. "At least from my understanding. I don't know a ton about Knights. The only one I know is Maus, oh! But you could reach out to some of the other knights and learn from them maybe! I've been doing a lot of that myself." As she was thanked her eyes widened a moment, almost with surprise, before she chuckled and shook her head. "It was a youma. They're... Chaos monsters, from the Negaverse." Weird that she didn't even know that much. What was Knight awakening like? Even she at least had some guidance. "Did... no one give you a rundown?" Andromeda asked with genuine concern.

"And yeah, I do! Pretty much all my life! I saw you dancing and from the way you moved I figure you do as well, not just some like tiktok dancer." Not that there was anything wrong with that, there was just a certain quality to her technique that screamed proper training.
