(OOC NOTES: This RP is meant to primarily serve as the major showdown between the two Sons of the Night Master Jioni, over who will be heir.
This is an ORP but all posts need to be from onlookers, those who gather to watch, not those involving in the fight sequence or trying to carry conversation with Mwisho or Kiyama until after the fight is over. However onlookers they can talk to one another and yell or watch silently or whatever otherwise.
If you only desire to only do a single post for points, do not begin an interaction with someone else’s character unless they Also are wanting to single post for points so to not leave other rpers hanging.
in any format state at the top of your post if you are General RP or Single Post so that others know!! Very important!
This fight is a big deal in the Pride and will draw attention so don’t be afraid to enter more than one Nightplainer you have for prospecting.
Qualifying word count total entries can be exchanged for points once per user for this Semi-ORP, not exchanged one time for every character used, so if you use 3 lions it it still a single exchange for points not 3.
This can also be turned in as a rp for breeding time with qualifying wc as well! So don’t be shy to interact~
This thread will be open from when I say “open” in some format for posting and will close after a semi short period after the fight has been rolled to allow for players to finish up, so when the fight is rolled is player’s que to start wrapping up interactions.
Note: Ruriska and I have already talked about what will happen depending on the results of the rolls for the fight, enjoy!
There isn’t a date for ending because it depends on the flow.
One last thing, even if you quote someone when you post a response, please tag them in the discord in the tagging channel. If you need a discord link please reach out to anyone on staff, even our members can invite I think~

Setting:

Night had settled completely over the Nightplains, leaving the pride’s encampment beneath a vast, cloudless sky. Here, atop the grassy plateaus overlooking the rocky canyons of the Outlands, there were few trees to interrupt the view. Stars stretched from horizon to horizon in countless numbers, brighter here than they seemed anywhere else, casting their pale light across dry grass, weathered stone, and the mouths of caves carved into the surrounding rock. The air had cooled from the day’s relentless heat, tho warmth still lingered in the stone beneath the paws.

At the center of the encampment lay a broad clearing, an open patch of hard-packed earth worn bare by countless paws, with lion bones placed in an articulate pattern around the outer edge serving as a boarder to this area. Caves and shallow rocky shelters surrounded it beyond the bones at uneven distances, serving as dens and resting places for the lions and strange assortment of creatures that called the Nightplains home. A structure built of the cleaned bones of lions, elephants and other annimals and flat wide stones overlooks it all, where the Pride’s ruling pair make their beds.

There was an uneasy stillness over the clearing tonight. This was a pride built upon strength, cunning, violence, and the simple understanding that anything worth possessing could be fought for. Challenges were no strange occurrence here. Food, caves, rank, and even authority could become prizes for those willing to prove themselves with tooth and claw.
But tonight the center of the encampment seemed larger somehow.

The Kings of the Past watched silently overhead as the open ground waited, empty and undisturbed. Around its edges, shadows gathered beneath the rocks and at the mouths of dens, leaving the middle exposed beneath the night sky.
Soon, blood would be spilled upon that dust and when it was finished, the Nightplains would know which path its future would take.

[Combat Rules - Lion vs. Lion]
To be considered a complete RP for breeding purposes, all combat roleplays need to have 5 posts by each participant, with at least 4 complete sentences per post.
Each lion rolls a total of 5 d6, either one at a time with each post, or altogether in the first post.
These 5 numbers represent 5 rounds of combat and help y'all determine how the combat plays out.
The winner is decided by who has the highest total number when all 5 numbers are added together.

It wasn’t just any old fight, challenges and fights happen all the time within the pride. This was THE fight, the one everyone had been waiting for including the Night Master himself, Jioni, who from his death shrouded den heard his favored son’s war cry. The edges of Jioni’s gnarled maw curled upwards on one side into a grimacing smile, it was high time his offspring got this sorted and it should be nice to finally get away with possibly eating on one of them.
Just the thought made Jioni lick his his scarred muzzle with his cannibalistic tongue, in fact he lifted his broad head and then rose to his powerful paws and went to the entrance of his den, where below he could see his two sons mouth off at one another. He was visible as he watched like a looming shadow of destruction from his elevated viewpoint, this could prove to not only decide which of his sons is fittest to rule, but to be quite entertaining for not just their father, but the whole pride.

Mwisho was a huge lion much like his brother, the wonderful genetics of their father making for some definite effects on more than just color and attitude.
He smirked at his brother taunt, his ears pinned back into the deep of his dark blue mane and retorted back, his tone an even mixture of degrading, and condescending. “Brave enough?.. That is interesting coming from the one who had to be challenged. Come now brother, what chance do you really think you have of getting the better of me? I am Fathers favored son for a reason, it wasn’t decided at random.”
Mwisho shook his mane and then to a heavy and claw edged step forward, just one as dust curled about his paw and claws gouged the packed ground.
“It was because I am stronger. I am worthy and I will always be more fit to rule than you!”
Mwisho took another step, his muscled rolling under the eclipsed moon on his shoulder and his lethal stare unwavering upon his brother. The fur stayed bristled on his back from mane to tail which only made him look even bigger and through clenched fangs he snarled more words at his brother.
“You who would lead this Pride to it’s end. You who are poison to everything you touch.”
His words are as sharp as his claws as he speaks of his judgements upon his brother, their mother’s wit shining thru the sheer brutality of their father.
Brothers that, as tiny cubs once played and nursed alongside one another, now size one another up in an arena that only one to walk out of.
The loser will die unless they show themselves as a coward and run, but if they run they better run far far from here if they want to stay alive.

(Onlookers, General post; willing to have mine mingle with other lions and animals onlooking)

The loud cry of a challenge rang through the air, gathering much attention. Though he knew the chances to be slim, Mifupa was hoping to get a bone or two from whichever one would end up a heap of meat on the ground. To get a taste of royal flesh would be so, so, so divine as well. Though his sights were most certainly set on the bones more than anything.

Aziza on the other hand... Well, it would be a lie if she were to claim she had no interest in who the winner may end up being. And oh, how she'd love the possibility of squeezing her way into the royal ranks by becoming the mate of the next heir. So once that challenging roar rang through the air, she was quick to join the crowd who had all began waiting in anticipation to see this flight play out.

(General post; however, distract her at one's own peril.)

The Time had finally come. It was about time, too. Batael languished in the sheer stagnation of waiting for her brothers to muster up the courage to fight the other to the death. Of course, she was just as dramatic in her thoughts as her brothers tossing condescension at one another as if it were a hunk of meat. But her actions were calculated, always. Her muscles rippled beneath her pelt, eager to perform in a real fight. Though huge for a lioness, and rivaling many males within the pride, she was, actually, a very patient lioness. She made her way down to the clearing to watch. She was careful to stay out of Their way, careful to distance herself from Others. Careful to get a little vantage point that might give her an edge. It may or may not be common knowledge among at least the lionesses of the pride, but she was the one who deserved to be heir the most! Her father saw only males as worthy, but that would never keep her from eyeing that exalted place. If, if by any miracle, she had a moment to leap at the victor and tear out his throat, she would. But if she did not have that opportunity, she would bide her time. She had a whole lifetime ahead of her and she knew that. It would serve no one if she died here, today. So she merely watched... for now.

He wasn’t the first to make the challenge and he wouldn’t be the first one to strike either. That was his plan. Kiyama stood steady, solid muscle, gaze cold and calculating. Though his teeth were sharp, he didn’t snarl or posture. He’d leave that to his brother. At least until their fangs met in battle.

All his life it felt as though they’d been fighting. From birth to now, life had been a struggle to be the fastest, the strongest, the meanest. “You’re the favourite?” He laughed. “That’s news to me. But if you insist, I’ll just have to take that position by force.”

He stalked closer, teeth bared in a smile.

“Come then brother, show me how worthy you are. Save this pride from my poisonous destruction.”

He cocked his head up, showing his throat, daring Mwisho to take the bait.

Inyenyeri had been resting when the roar rolled out and her breath caught in her throat. Something clenched in her belly, muscles tightening, remembering her cubs as just that, small, helpless, nestled to her side. They were her blood, her own, and she had helped instill in them as much cunning as she could, but she’d always known only one would remain. Jioni had fostered that hatred in them, inspiring strength through competition. This was how it needed to be.

By the time she emerged from her cave, she was composed. Her expression was cold as ice as she looked down at the two fighters. The winner, she would praise. The loser, death or exile, gone from her mind as if he never existed. Did she prefer one over the other? Perhaps. But it was easier to pretend she didn’t care at all.

Mwisho flicked an ear to the side, he could feel the gazes upon them and though he couldn’t take his eyes off of his opponent, he hoped his parents were watching, that everyone was watching. Because tonight, in those pale sandy eyes, only death could be seen there and it would be the last night for one of them, he honestly didn’t care which. He watched his brother try and anger him, try and keep cool but he knew his brother, he had been training his whole life with their father to kill Kiyama one day. They had quarreled so much growing up that you would think they would have a good bead on one another’s fighting styles and tactics, but Mwisho’s strategy was always changing and elvolving and more than likely his brother’s did too.
As Kiyama tipped his chin up and taunted him, Mwisho opened his maw into a loud and very aggressive roar, it was going to work in his favor to allow himself to seem more angry than he was and he began to circle his brother like a shark in a small tank. choosing his next words wisely, he begins to try and get his opponent moving, moving and less stabilized.
“In the end you will run, won’t you? You will run, run run little Kiyama. Everyone knows you are a damn coward anyway, but I hope you don’t. So many want a taste of you… and so do I”
Suddenly he jolted at Kiyama, a surge of swift movement, power and finite control.
He the made an unnerving swipe with claws out at Kiyama side, cautious and calculated, minding the distance of his face and angle of approach, ready to pull his follow up move if it works or try plan B if it doesn’t. It wasn’t meant to really connect, it stirred dust, was sudden and possibly very startling because it came so close that he touched fur and was accompanied by a loud short bursted roar followed by the lionistic garbled rumble. If he can’t get him moving soon, he will simply full on maul him where he is choosing to cower, painted up as calm bravery.

Jioni felt his mates presence, then she came not exactly at his side but near enough to speek to. His presence dripped with sheer excitement and sick amusement, but his gaze turned from the taunting two, to his mate. Though he may not understand the things she feels, and she looks as smooth and attractive as frozen blood, she felt… Well he couldn’t put a word to it but there was only one thing other than carnage in his twisted heart, and that was Inyenyuri. He didn’t have a reason why he was reacting the way he is, his instincts are so intense and he doesn’t often question himself but for some reason he felt he wanted to go to her side, go closer, so he did, he moved to his Night Mistress’s side and softly rested his flank against hers. It wasn’t unthinkable that this is different for females and Jioni knew that they feel deeper and they bond differently. The only thing in him that can care about anything, offers her at least silent support, event if he didn’t know why. She always made him feel so many strange things anyway so he learned that his instincts are usually right. His teal piercing gaze cast back down to his sons, strangely he wasn’t as overly excited as he was a moment before, funny how empathy works. But he felt something else. Something he didn’t expect and he felt it for both Mwisho and Kiyama somehow And he said one thing to the mother of these sons.
“I am proud of them Inyenyuri, we did well”

Adze had just came back from her early morning check in with her Warmonger when all the roaring and movement started. Her ears became even more alert and only for. Split second did she pause, before breaking off into a run through the encampment, headed to the arena. It was time and it was happening right now and she needed to get there, she needed to see this. As a General the matters of the Royal ranks are important to her so didn’t waste time. The blurred past a few lions until she slowed and got where she could clearly see them. She stopped next to Aziza and stood there watching in silence a moment, her breathing slowly settling. Both of the Young Masters were fit, trained, ruthless, intelligent and capable. Either one of them could rule in place of the Night Master, were something to happen to him.. Orr even perhaps one of them may be able to catch Jioni just right and take his throne too. Either way would work, her iridescence tail tip flicked as she pondered.
She didn’t look to Aziza but she spoke to her, her voice was melodic and oddly soft and naturally gentle, always was and it could be so misleading too. “So, which one are you hoping will win Aziza?”

A flick of her tail as her eyes watched, and watched closely. The first move had been made and the excitement ran through her veins. Claws dug into the dirt beneath her as she thought up endless scenarios of what could happen. How much blood would spill, who would get the deepest wounds. Ah, scars.... Those lovely pelts adorned with scars would be so, so, so attractive, she thinks ~

Her ear flicked in the direction of Adze though her gaze never ripped from the fight before them.

"Mwisho has quite the dashing pelt. I wonder what a shooting star would taste like if Kiyama were to lose. Then again, that moon marking on Mwisho might be tasty as can be too ~ Assuming any of us bystanders get a chance to have a little taste, even if it is just a little drop or two of blood. The pride is rather large, and this fight has been well anticipated. I wonder if there is anyone fool enough to try and sneak a bit without permission. That'd be one whole new sight to see, hmm?"

Aziza took her claws from the dirt now and allowed her body to relax despite the excitement stirring within.

"Do you have a favored one? I'm sure the King and Queen do."

Keres had torn into soft, supple flesh and was chewing on it with her back turned from the fight. Yet, as more and more lions appeared to observe, she sighed through her nose and turned her head at last, wondering if she should get a glimpse of the upcoming carnage. Glancing at her fellow pride mates, she could practically feel the bloodlust radiating off of them. Would her rank truly prioritize her to eat them before any of the other lower ranks here?

Her nose twitched, coated in gore and she turned her attention back to her own prize, nosing between bones to get to the organs inside. She had always been a messy eater, spraying milk from her mother across her face, rather than into her mouth.

Swiping her tongue over scarlet teeth, she scanned the area not for her brothers, who were engaged in the fight, nor for her parents, who would be undoubtedly standing together - the picture of a strong couple with stronger jaws to rip flesh from bone. No, now her eyes slunk through the crowds in hopes of finding her sister.

Batael was the best of them, no one could convince Keres otherwise. While their brothers had been locked into a relationship based on hatred and competition, spurred on by their father, Batael and Keres had been shunted to the side as the females of the royal family. Their mother may likely be the only reason they hadn't been eaten by their father upon the revealing of their sexes. Then again, perhaps Keres and Batael had been so unnoticeable in their fathers eyes, that he hadn't even considered eating them.

The brothers fought, but Batael had the makings of the leader of all the siblings. Keres was no leader - she did not care for her pride and its lions, she cared for her rank and the personal gain that came with it. She never spoke on a favored member aloud - because even favorites could be brought low with a paw in their stomach. Who that paw would end up belonging to however, was less certain.

There she is. Keres spotted her sister, who was perched a little higher from where their brothers fought openly in the clearing. For a moment, Keres considered approaching her, but no - it would be Batael's paw in Keres' stomach if she were to appproach her during such a moment. Better to wait where she was, to watch the show and to fill her own belly.

I just wish they'd get on with it. She thought. No one is interested in the battle, they're interested in the results. The only show of her impatience was in the flicking of her tail, before she dipped her head down in the gore of her young prey.

Keres' thoughts of her sister, though she approaching her, so much as reflecting from afar.
