The Evercommon Garden

The Evercommon Garden links to all the other Gardens, and is the biggest and brightest Garden of all.

There is to be no fighting in the Evercommon Garden, as if this place is too beautiful to be polluted by such atrocities.

Underfoot, the fresh green grass of the Garden is sweet smelling and pleasant to walk, run, or lie on. It's comfy and dry, and is better than any carpet anywhere!

Surrounding the Evercommon Garden is a clear brook with tiny, friendly fairy fishes, and in the bright patch of sun are beautifully carved seats and tables made of marble, and these are always abuzz with garden parties and gossip. You can often find Dawnsong, Llithe of Bellsong here, usually the one initiating the gossip!

If you don't feel like venturing into the sun, maybe you would like to take shelter in the cozy shades under the everflowering purple wisteria trees. The butterflies will be sure to greet you if you maintain a calm disposition!

Dawnsong sits patiently on the bench in the middle of the Evercommon Garden, waiting for the new guests to arrive. "I can't wait till the new Llithes arrive, it would be great to have new friends besides that boring Caer and Destine!" she says to herself.

She plays with her hair absent-mindedly. "They only thing they do is just sit around and be boring! What we need is some life around this place!"

The soft shift of wind fluttered through the garden. Pausing at a flower to whisper something idly to the petals. A great, though faint, sound of laughter echoed across the silent sky, creating secret messages and emotions as it carried in a circle. With a voice so soft, and quiet, it could have been none other than Scealanna. Every word she spoke was as harmonious as a song, hiding some sort of hidden meaning that only the brightest and imaginative could guess at. In life, if she had ever lived one, her voice inched on beauty, but for now she had only the friendly wind and foliage to carry her message across the sun bathed gardens.

It was rare to hear her speak as she wished to keep her voice silent, offering advice to passerbye's here and there. Despite this, none considered her to be wise, only took heart in what she spoke, hardly ever digging into what she was offering. No one ever took the time anymore. Such a pity. The wind flickered again, circling voraciously around a small, paled figure with startling red locks.

"No one is boring love," the voice fluttered, bounding off leaves and colors alike. "They simply don't know what to do with themselves." There was a long eerie pause before she spoke again. "Time." A simple, tiny word, but capable of distinct meaning. The wind stopped blowing, vanished in the blink of an eye. Even the living could feel the sadness that echoed around the spirits singing. The wind was her lifetime companion, and its absence cause her depression. No doubt she would have followed it, but Dawnsong seemed so avidly depressed perched on the stony bench she couldn't bare to leave. She simply stayed, hoping the living would have something benifical to say, or she to it.

Dawnsong sat up straight at the mysterious Spirit voice. "I know, I guess I'm just impatient!" she said sadly to the wind, her bells tinkling softly as she shook her head. "Caer only likes to be in the Mirror Lake Garden and Destine is.. you know, a Whisperer!"

She walked over to the brook and sat down by the fresh grass. "But you're right, in time, this place will be lively! I just can't wait till that day!"

"Hmm. . ." the spirit mused, thinking wonderful things to herself. "Perhaps Caer is looking for something in her reflection. Do you dare to ask what?" It was another thing about Scealanna that little to none knew. She was always asking questions about others, prying into private lives. Not a gossiper, but a soaker of information. Hence her mudane nature and sense of nothingness. Being so quiet could do that to a persons ego.

There was no surprise taken from the spirit, they showed no emotion, except through their voices. Yet still, they did seem to have thoughts in some way or another. How they processed information, no one knew, but they certainly seemed wise. Either that or so pathetically simplistect they sounded brilliant. No matter the case people tended to listen to them, whether for good or for ail.

"Whisperers," she Sceal muttered to herself, perplexed by the dark notion most gave them. What is a whisperer exactly? It was a question she often asked herself, inatimate though she was. They were known to be banished, but for what want or reason? Minds were a touchy thing, banishment could mean forbidden love, or simply the inablity to harness a gift that most cherish. The most foolish of things the living cast at one another in their grief.

"I fear I will regret such a day," the spirit rambled. "All the noise could even give wind a headache. I'd hate to be around to hear what nonsense the living produce. Why do you long for company so? Does solitude bore you ever so badly?"

Dawnsong shifted uneasily under Scealanna's questions. "I don't know," she muttered. "I guess I just like liveliness and noise! How can you Spirits just wander around in solitude? I will always want and need friends and happiness around me! I guess that's why I like being here in the Evercommon Gardens, where everyone meets!"

She lay down on the grass and poked the empty air playfully. "As for Caer, I think she's just pining over her lost love. I know she's not from the Thousand Gardens originally. Who knows where she came from? Who knows where the Whisperers come from? Who knows where YOU came from, Scealanna?"

A bitter sigh came floating across the wind. The living, too, had the same doubt of wonders that she did. Perhaps there was some meaning in all this, that there was still likeness even in the most strange. Maybe Scealanna was meant to learn from these conversations, but she could find nothing but petty and mundane formalities. “To each their own, I would imagine,” she answered the other, waiting for the wind to take her away. “I’m never alone, besides,” she continued, offering Dawnsong an insight into the strange life she held. “There is the wind, and we meet many on our journeys. I suppose when you have no body to hold emotion you no longer need the small trifles of life such as companionship.

“The whisperers come from here and there. Each have their own story to tell,” it was clear she was going no where with the conversation. She continued to speak nonsense about her thoughts on spirits and the like, but it held little importance for anyone around. Spirit talk, it was always all riddles.

“I suppose. . .” there was a long pause as the gained headway again to wind rush about. Time fluttered by and the presence of the spirit would have seemed to dissipate, but her came back twice as strong as before; perhaps audible by passerby’s this time. “We spirits fear life as everyone else fears death. Even the living has no knowledge of whence they came. It is the mystery that links all of us.” With her eerie speech out of the way the voice took on a much more exuberant voice. Temper swings were common in the spirits as they had no true emotions to guide them.

“But tell me, love, how long do you presume our wait is before or guests arrive? And who on this earth is going to retain order?” The wind flourished as her laughter cut the air, becoming lighter and lighter as if she was traveling away, though spirits did not seem to travel more than they came and went. Perhaps when someone did not talk to them they simply vanished completely, only coming when others asked for their presence. The higher their voice, the more they were summoned, while the soft ones were long aching for a comforting voice.

The song of light tinkling bells called across the wind to her, slowly coalescing into a soft resonance across time and space. It had been long since she had noticed the sounds about her, since she had been awakened by her surroundings even, as she drifted along in the deep amber and green harmony of this place. The sunlight scents and mysterious fragrances of the many flowers in the garden called hauntingly to her.

The gardens. Yes, that was this place … had she come here before? How long had she been here? ...

But the thoughts slipped away from her as the breeze gently buffeted her along, slowly drawing her back down into her vague and pleasant dreams. She let herself slip away again, allowing the sun warmed currents of air to take her where they would. The beautiful swirl of colors that was the garden began to merge comfortingly with her dreams. Time became meaningless once more.

The tinkling again. This time more clear.

The bells’ golden peal was insistent in its call to her, waking her more fully this time. They drew her lazily from the blankets of sleep, even while the dreams beckoned for her to return to their peaceful embrace. She struggled vaguely against this for a moment, wanting to hear the song of the pretty bells, trying to see through the heavy fog of her dreams - to become aware again.

But the tinkling ended. She was sad for a moment, and then unconcerned as sleep began to lull her mind once more. Just as the pleasant haze was pulling her back under its spell, she heard another familiar and lovely sound. Voices… beautiful. Images and memories (hers?) swirled through her and spoke invitingly in her mind. She was hardly aware of the hypnotic pull of the dreams as she began to listen for the sounds again, floating purposefully on the light breeze. As she was being drawn onward towards the sounds coming from deeper within the gardens the wild blur of colors all around her began to take shape and pull together. Flowers emerged brilliantly, and the calm and soothing greens became leaves dappled with morning dew. The golden haze of the sun spilled through into the gardens, shimmering motes of light were dancing in their beams, reflecting off of the babbling water of the brook. Her dreams were finally swept away like smoke on the wind with hardly any farewell.

Having finally emerged from her long slumber, Danica let the gentle currents pull her along as they would for a while, listening intently, and then hesitantly she began moving closer to the voices, shyly wondering what she would see.

Anahrii. Anahrii. Anahrii!
She voiced her name over and over inside the prison that was Anahrii's mind. But as she thought her name, a voice joined hers in speaking her name. The strangest thing, she thought. I could swear that some one is calling me!

The Spirit had no body, the only thing proving her existence was her thoughts and her voice. Apart from that, who knows how easily she could fade away...No must not think of that. Must stay positive, she chided herself, as she swooped towards where the voices came from.

A garden? Weird how she could smell and feel the whole purity of the garden. She sailed over it's lengths, studying it's undying perfection. Okay, good enough for me, she thought. She floated closer to the ground to get a good look at the flowers.
