In all honesty, when I got the game I hardly realized what it was and was almost to the point of returning it because of the rating. Thankfully, I played it after all and it's one of my two top favorites now - has anyone else played or watched it? Any favorite characters?


(unintentional spoiler warning - explained in the context that whoever I'm ranting to knows nothing of Xenosaga)
As for the rant I promised...Albedo. At the same time I absolutely hate the character, I also feel bad for him, and then I get confused which makes me even more agitated. He has excuses for being the way he is, but that doesn't change the fact that he's sick. And being he regenerates, he can't die unless his twin brother kills him himself, and Albedo wants to die because he's been afraid of losing those close to him since he was a kid and not being able to follow them when he was supposed to die - so he went about trying to make them unimportant to him and hurting them however he could. As a kid, he killed his brother's ill girlfriend because he got jealous that Rubedo's attention was diverted, he dug graves in the garden pretending his brothers were dying so that when they did die, he wouldn't cry, and then as he grew up, he constantly thought up schemes to antagonize Rubedo enough to kill him. Mind you, because the twins are artificial humans created for the purpose of countering a god-like being that only exists in waves and thoughts, Albedo technically wasn't even planned upon, Rubedo just happened to have a twin. While Albedo regenerates (which leads to one of his main amusements being decapitating himself), Rubedo hasn't physically aged past 12, despite that he's in his late twenties. In some ways, Albedo obviously still acts like and thinks he's a kid, but he thinks like an insane person because...well, he is. The one scene I particularly won't forget is when he's standing over Momo and yammering on about she can't possibly be a human, while at the same time twisting his head off with his hands and then drops it and steps on it - while still talking - until she faints, then he searches through her mind to try and find data that's guarded and ends up setting a trap in her subconciousness so that later when the other 'good-guys' go to retrieve it to possibly stop a catastrophe, he comes in at the last second and takes it!! On top of all that, even when Rubedo does finally kill him - he comes back all over again!!!! Beyond those points, since killing Sakura (the girl Rubedo liked), and being the artificial humans Momo and the kazillion Kircshwassers look exactly like her, he's got major issues with them all and kills them off one by one despite that they try to help him!! And...alright, for now the rant's over...I think I'm going to fall over trying to think of all the reasons I hate him. -_-;
But like I said, I feel bad for the character, too, so then I get even more annoyed. And yes, I DO know he's not a real person. Even I know that my issues over the whole subject are kind of retarded...

I just thought that I'd post that if you're a fan of Xenosaga there's an anime that just came out on DVD over here in the US this week. I've already seen it since it's been out in Japan for awhile now. It's not as good as the game but if you like the game you should really check it out.

I've only played the 3rd one. It was really fun, i hope to play the 1st one someday.

Xenosaga is good but it, doesn't have the same hold on me that Xenogears did. I really did like the character designs and the game is very fun though. smile

I've played the entire series, Xenogear to Xenosaga Ep3. I like them all.
