What Happened Then

Albus Severus Potter boarded the scarlet train for the first time, taking him to hogwarts with his older brother James. He spotted other children he had known, tpeople like Rose and Hugo, people he knew as friends. Of course, other children on the train knew him as well.

It was hard not to know the sons of the boy who lived, especially Albus who looked so much like his famous father. Any child who had never before taken this train was excited...except for one.

Albus and James couldn't have known that the car next to theirs was nearly deserted for a reason; Its only occupant had locked the door...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ninteen years have passed since the night that Harry Potter had defeated Lord Voldemort.
Since then, the ministry of Magic had restablized. Voldemorts influence eventually faded, but the scars of the muggle borns and what they had faced would always remain.
Now, Ninteen years later, ninteen years of peace and joy. There are wispers among the magical community, however, that the Death Eaters, or rather the offspring of the original Death Eaters, as well as some of the more able originals have been on the move, searching for something...or someone. People are hopeful that the new regiem in the ministry will be able to silence these anomilies once and for all...to rid them of the last of the Dark Lord's servants. They think they can know more or less who is behind the dissappearances of several members of varying families: The elderly Luscius Malfoy leading the new ranks, without his son: Draco has decided not to remain amongst their ranks, as far as is known.
After the great battle, Hogwarts was repaired quickly: even in time for the next term. Most of the old staff has retired, excluding a stubborn few: Minerva McGonagall is the current Headmistress, though time and age are steadilly taking their toll on her.
This RP begins starting as soon as the next generation leaves the station platform. Albus, James, Rose, and Hugo share a compartment, the one next to theirs having a single occupant.
Clothing (appart from robes): She has a long, forest green cloak, with gold fastenings. She also has one pair of jeans she wears repeatedly, washing when needed, but always the same pair. They are the definition of worn out. She swapps between four t-shirts, all blank but in light blue, black, white, and dark blue. She also has one Huge light violet swetter with a hood and a pocket in front. It is FAR too large for her, but she doesn't seem to mind.
Weight: 80 Lbs
Blood Status: Pure
Wand (Length, Wood Type, Core, Condition): 14 and a quarter inches, Bloodwood, Pheonix Feather, New
Pet: A black and Grey kitten, named Eclipse
Likes: Books, Spells, Chocolate, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Cats, Night, Lights, Vibrant Colors.
Dislikes: The Dark Arts, History, Ingorance, Discrimination, Arrogant Pure-Bloods.
History:In the year Voldemort searched for Lilly and James Potter, he did occasionally take some time to 'relax'. One of these occasions, resulted in a child. A girl, infact. This girl was brought up to know everything and anything about the dark arts. However, when the Dark Lord was resurected in Harry Potter's fourth year at hogwarts, he learned of the girl: He found her to be a terrible dissappointment. It was because of this failure to impress, that her mother disowned her.
The girl grew with time, struggling to keep alive at first, but eventually she was taken an interest in by a wealthy pure-blood family...after all, she was Voldemort's daughter. The most they were willing to do for the girl was give her gold to stay alive, out of fear of the Dark Lord. She horded it, until she had amassed a small fortune.
Unfortunately for her, she came to realize that she was a lost cause towards impressing her dear father...But she had another chance to get into his good graces: If she were to raise a child better than herself, more skilled, more deadly, more loyal, he would certainly love her as he never had! Thus, she became pregnant by the son of the family who had supported her.
Again, misfortune struck her. As she entered her ninth month, the great battle with Harry Potter took place, and her father was disposed of. In her anger, she went into a rage, destroying whatever lay in her path. as a result, it sent her into labor. She gave birth to a healthy baby girl, but couldn't bear the sight of the thing: Without the Dark Lord, there was no point to it...But, it was, through her, related to the great Voldemort, so it simply couldn't be killed...That would be unthinkable.
Instead, she dropped the thing at a muggle orphanage, with a note stating the greatness of the child's history. She knew it would mean nothing to the muggles inside, but perhapse they would tell the girl, and she would yet grow to something...acceptable. The mother of course, would have no part of it. With that, she abandoned her daughter as her family had done her, leaving Aurora on the steps in a basket with the note.
~~~~~

The children at the orphanage were not particularly kind to her. Aurora hadn't exactally been able to hide her strange eyes. They teased her for it, but two children defended her, a boy and a girl, brother and sister. They accepted her as she was, and the strange things she could make happen.

From this, Aurora developed what was almost like family for the first time. The workers had told her her grandfather was someone apparently important, but they had never heard of him. She kept his name inside her mind often, wondering if maybe he was part of a family that would come to seek her someday...Surely, they would take her new famliy with them also.

She dreamed of how wonderful things would be once her family came to get them...They could have as much to eat as they wanted, new books to read, clothes that hadn't been handed down through countless other kids...the only article Aurora had that was hers alone was her giant violet swetter.

Unfortunately, her new family was short lived. The pair of siblings developed a severe illness, and died in the months just before Aurora turned 11. She thought the pain would never go away...She had started to go numb, by the time that her letter arrived.

She read it again and again, knowing THIS was why no one had ever heard of her family, despite the fact that she had apparently someone famous in it. The letter she had been left with mentioned some place called "gringots" and to ask for vault 917. The workers at the orphanage gave her the key when she asked for it, and she left. If she really was a witch...Maybe she could find a way to stop what happened to her friends from ever happening again.

The letter told her where to go in order to get her things, and so she wandered through London with her few posessions in a ragged old backpack, until she found the Leaky Cauldron. Inside, the customers were more than suprised to see such a small girl wandering around on her own. However, without question they helped her into Diagon Alley, and directed her to Gringots.

Inside the bank, Aurora was more than happy to see the goblins. They didn't scare her in the least, nor even hardly suprise her. After presenting the key, a goblin showed her to the vault, with the gold her mother had stored away inside it; It had been untouched for years. She took a small bag, and filled it up with a small portion of the gold, and left the only place she knew for certain her family had ever been before.

After buying the things on the list the school sent with her letter, she went to buy her wand from Ollivanders, which was now being run by its namesake's apprentice, for his old age. The little, bent old wizard that was Mr. Ollivander however, offered to find Aurora her wand. After many wands tried, finally the bloodwood wand reacted. She was so excited, her slit-pupils contracted. Ollivander's eyes widened, noticing the differance, and after that seemed very interrested in the girl, if not a little afraid. However, he continued to be kind to the child before him: something she had rarely experienced often eneough until entering the amazing wizarding world.

When he discovered that she needed a place to stay, he told her that the Leaky Cauldron rented rooms: he had offered to let her stay with him, but with the wands, himself, and his apprentice, there was simply no room, and she was the one who pointed it out. Thus, a room at the in was where she chose to stay until the departure to King's Cross.

In the alley, she found more kindness from more people than ever before. Even as she gazed through the windows of a petshop for what must have been the tenth day in a row, she experienced sudden warmth from total strangers: The owner came to the window, picked up a small black and grey male kitten with bright eyes just like her own, and brought him out to her, with a little food for him. She wanted to protest, but...She could hardly refuse a kitten that was looking at her with such love.

She took him back to her room, happy to await the day she would finally get to go to the magical school she dreamed of.

She got to the train station, and followed a family of five through the barrier onto the platform. Without them, she certainly wouldn't have known how to do it...One of the boys seemed to be going for his first time as well...The little girl, apparently had to wait another two years...While the family met up with friends, and they chatted merrily, Aurora made her way directly on the train, and picked out a compartment...All the people around had given her a headache...She couldn't think...She locked the door, and set Eclipse down, so that the kitten could curl up on the seat next to her as she heaved her trunk above her head.

((Ack, its long, I know...But I wanted to get some good backround in.))

House/Department:Hufflepuff
Hair Color:Auburn (brown)
Hair Style:Short and straight on back and sides; short bangs in front.
Eye Color:Yellow
Clothing (apart from robes):A few pairs of jeans and about as many plain single-color t-shirts, some of which have some (non-magical) animal blood on them.
Height:Medium tall
Weight:A little heavier than average
Blood Status (Pure, Half, Muggle Born, Etc.) razz ure...werewolf.
Wand (Length, Wood Type, Core, Condition):Fifteen inches, dogwood, ground {heck}hound claw, a bit worn but still fairly new.
Personality (a little detail is helpful):Friendly, trustworthy, usually cheerful, respectful, and generally tough (impossible to push around), but unerringly blunt and occasionally reckless, Plinsis has a tendency to either really like someone or really dislike them on first contact, and remain that way. Additionally, he tends to be a fairly good judge of the character of others barring the bias of the aforementioned dislike. He has many friendly acquaintances but few if any close friends. Not necessarily personality, but he tends to use American expressions rather than British ones, and occasionally misunderstand the latter, since that's where he's from.
Hobbies:Singing, exercising, hunting, drawing, reading, stargazing.
Likes:Meat, Transfiguration (favorite subject), wandering aimlessly, honesty in general, loose organization.
Dislikes:Vegetables, fruit, some kinds of bread, lying and cheating, over-organization.
History razz linsis is of a relatively small group of werewolves in America, descended from a long line of the same who have evolved beyond the form of werewolves well known to the wizarding world. They have the ability to conserve the energy gained in moonlight in order to shift form partially for short periods of time at any time, and while lycanthropy is passed on to their children, it does not transfer through bites from these werewolves. Notably they are also immune to (and incapable of) transfiguration upon themselves, although those capable of that school of magic can still use it upon other objects and persons, and that the so-called "wolfsbane potion" is highly poisonous to their kind. Until the time of Voldemort, a select few of them had been sent to wizarding schools in secret to learn the ways of magic and then disappear back to their own pack.
When Voldemort began gaining power and the werewolves nearby sided themselves with him this policy ended, and the group slipped into even more complete obscurity. Once certain the "Voldemort nonsense" seemed to be over, the elders of this group decided to send a test case back into a wizarding school, and if it went well, to return to the former tradition or perhaps even create open relations with wizards. Plinsis is this test. Why exactly they chose to send him to Hogwarts in England rather than a school in America is unclear, and they sure didn't tell him.
He started as a first year at age thirteen, which is why he is only a second year now. The sorting hat had a hard time deciding whether to put him in Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, but eventually decided upon the latter.

((m'k. I'm going to put up a first post then.))

Auora sat in the empty compartment, listening to the sounds comming from next door...They seemed happy. She looked out the window, toward the parents of the family she had followed. The little red headed girl stood beside her dark haired father, and mother who's firey locks matched her daughters.

She looked down on the seat accross from her, where Eclipse was standing against the window, pressing his paws and nose against it interrestedly. The kitten's tail batted back and forth through the air, and his bright eyes darted from one point to another eagerly searching for some invisible prey to play with.

The witch picked up her black and grey puff-ball, and cuddled him, before holding him up closer to the window so he could see better. After not so long, the kitten tired of the window, and jumped down out of her arms onto the seat cussion next to her. He put his head up against her elbow, and nuzzled her happily.

After a moment, Auora turned her eyes back to the window, looking to the family again...they were standing with another family...A woman with bushy hair, and a man with hair just like the one woman and her daughter...they were laughing. They had a son with them...The boy couldn't have been much younger than she was...Neither did the little red headed girl, for that matter...

"I wish we could get going..."She said to Eclipse, for not much of a reason. She didn't even look away from the window. It looked nice...Families, and all...

Name: Virginia Black
Nickname: Virgie
Age: 12
Year: Second
House/Department: Hufflepuff
Hair Color: Dark brown, almost black
Hair Style: Thick and curly, Virginia's shoulder-length hair would reach mid-back had it been straight. She prefers to wear her hair in a ponytail or down, with two strands of hair on either side of her head clipped together at the back of her head to hold the rest of her hair out of her face.
Eye Color: Murky, but light green.
Clothing (appart from robes): She prefers her pair of paint-splattered jeans (the only pair of jeans she has) or athletic shorts. She tends to wear guy-ish shirts advertising sports teams she's been a part of or sports events she's attented or participated in. Today she is wearing her jeans and a shirt advertising one of her old football (or, as is said in the U.S., soccer) teams.
Height: 5' 0"
Weight: 95 lbs
Blood Status (Pure, Half, Muggle Born, Etc.): Half blood
Wand (Length, Wood Type, Core, Condition): 12 inches, willow, crushed basilisk fang, new
Pet: A grass snake, whom she calls Drake. Virginia had found him laying, injured, in a playground shortly before discovering she was a witch and had nursed him back to health. The two are nigh inseperable.
Personality (a little detail is helpful): She is spunky, energetic, and often random when she is with friends, though often shy around strangers. She is very smart, a hard worker, and very loyal to her friends. However, she doesn't have very many friends, partially due to the fact that she is quiet (unless with people she's already friendly with) and partially because, even in the wizarding world, many of the students are creeped out by the way she communicates.
Hobbies: Painting, drawing/sketching, reading, writing, sports
Likes: animals, books, art, writing, sports, drama
Dislikes: crowds, intolerant, cruel, and rude people, people who are full of themselves
History: Unbeknownst to everybody save his closest friends (who were, indeed, good friends, and kept the secret), Sirius Black had a very close relationship with a woman, long before Lily and James had Harry. However, his attention soon was consumed by the Order of the Phoenix, and he payed little attention to his "girlfriend," as one might call her, whose name, by policy, was never mentioned afterwords, and after a while was forgotten. She left Black, tired of being neglected, though still deeply in love with him, in hopes the cold shoulder would win him back. This plan did not succeed, and she had become pregnant by Sirius. She raised her child by herself, giving him the surname of "Black."
Eventually, this son, Leon Black, married a muggle woman by the name of Alyssa. Leon never told Alyssa about who he truly was - a wizard - believing that Alyssa would be convinced that he, Leon, was a madman for saying so. Leon later became one of the many unidentified dead victims of Voldemort's last rise to power, but not before Alyssa became pregnant.
Alyssa raised her healthy girl, whom she named Virginia, as a muggle, though it could not go unnoticed that not a sound ever came out of the girl's mouth. By the age of 18 months, to her mother's surprise, Virginia said her first sentence - but never, it seemed, opened her mouth to say it. A wizard, had Alyssa known one besides her late husband, could have probably told her that her daughter suffered (if you could call it that) from the exceedingly rare and mysterious Telepathic Constrictive Disorder. This meant that Virginia was mute, but could communicate telepathically with the skill that most communicate verbally.
Seen as a freak at her Muggle school, she was shunned and resorted to having animals as friends. To her own surprise, Virginia found telepathic communication with her animal friends quite easy.
The summer before Virginia's 11th birthday (her birthday being in the fall), a woman came to call on the struggling Black family (now reduced to mother and daughter), saying that Virginia was a witch and that she was accepted into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Yet another shock for both Alyssa and Virginia. The woman, calling herself Professor Minerva McGonagall, gave Virginia a letter with a welcoming note and a list of the supplies and such that the girl would need. The professor took the girl to a place called Diagon Alley to help her in getting money from Leon's Gringotts bank account and, in turn, help with getting supplies.

((Sorry I took so long with this. And sorry that I wrote so much.))

((I'll start my own posting. I hope you don't mind.))

Virginia walked along the isle of the train, looking for an empty compartment. She finally came to the compartment where James Potter was sitting with several others.

'Let's not sit with them,' Drake said from Virginia's shoulder, communicating telepathically, as always.

'Agreed,' replied the girl without moving her lips, noting that the compartment across from Potter's had only one occupant. 'Ah, look. Must be a first year. I don't recognize her.' She tried the door. It was locked. 'Excuse me,' she told the girl. 'But, please, may I join you? The other compartments are full.'

((Eh. I'm not going to write that Virginia uses telepathic communication every time she says something. It would be tiresome.))
PostPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2007 2:30 pm

Auora stood up, a little suprised at what had just happened. She had heard someone...and yet not heard them. It was a strange sensation. Eclipse too seemed to have heard the words, and got up, pawing at the door.

"Hang on a second..."If someone was going to come in, she didn't want the first wizard child she met to think she was a freak...Unfortunately, the only thing she could think to do seemed to ephasize that point: She took her cloak off the rack next to her trunk, and put it on, pulling the hood down to cover her eyes.

She then turned her attention to the kitten's little paws, which were batting at the lock. Auora moved closer to it, and picked him up, before opening the door. "...Hello,"She said quietly, as she slid it open. She waited until the other girl and her snake had entered the compartment, and then quickly slid it closed and locked it again.

Auora didn't want to seem weird by doing this, but she didn't want anyone to come in unexpectedly.

'Thank you. I am much obliged.' Virginia put her bags on the rack above her head and sat down. 'So, is this your first year?' she asked the stranger, scratching the cat behind its ears. 'The name's Virginia, by the way. You can call me Virgie. The snake's Drake. What about you two?' The girl seemed a bit confused. Virginia debated for a moment whether or not to explain about her Telepathic Constrictive Disorder (TCD) - something that had been explained to her in full only last year - but decided not to overwhelm the girl on first meeting.
PostPosted: Fri Jul 27, 2007 3:11 pm

This was unexpected...could most witches talk like this? Was it expected? Auora didn't quite know what to think. Eclipse seemed to have stopped caring however, because he was purring as she scratched his ears.

"...I'm Aurora, but everyone just calls me Auora..."She smiled a little, "and the fluff ball is Eclipse." At this, the cat made a little mewing noise, as if to say 'Yep. That's right.'

"Oh...and...Yes, this is my first year...I didn't know I was even a witch until I got the letter..."She trailed off slightly, not wanting to simply thrust her question out in the open, but she didn't want to be embarrased when they got to school, "Can everyone talk like that? Should we...? I mean...I don't...think I can do that...What is your snake mumbling by the way?"

The last part hadn't ment to come out so suddenly either, but she heard a soft string of words while Drake's toung flicked out of his mouth. She didn't know snakes spoke, but maybe it was a magical snake...or something.

'So you're a parselmouth? Interesting.' Virginia didn't offer an explanation for this. 'Well, a warm welcome to both of you. I didn't know about being a witch before getting the letter, either. That was a couple years ago. My mum's a muggle and my father disappeared before I was born.' The train began to move, and Virginia looked out the window and waved her mother good-bye. 'Oh, I'm the only person I know who communicates telepathically.' She might as well explain now that Aurora asked. 'I've got a condition called Telepathic Constrictive Disorder. Nobody's sure how or why it occurs, but it's very rare. I can't communicate any other way than telepathically.'
PostPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2007 12:30 pm

Now Auora was more confused than ever, but somehow, she was starting to feel a little more normal: At least she wasn't the only one who stood out to most people. "Well, that's a relief...I don't think I could be telepathic,"She said, with a little laugh.

After only about half a second of silence, she decided to ask her other question, "What's a Parselmouth?" She used to mention to the kids at the orphanage that she could hear garden and grass snakes that passed through their little semi-grassy play yard wispering, and they all thought it was interesting, but figured she was just pretending. Thus none of them, herself included really stopped to question why she could do it.

She cast her eyes out the window as they started to pick up speed, Virginia's mother's wave slowly moving out of view. "So...What's your family like?"This question almost seemed more pressing to her than her previous: She wondered somewhere in the back of her mind if any of the students had ever heard of her grandfather...He was supposed to be a lord or something, wasn't he?

'Parselmouths can speak snake language. Very rare. One of the Hogwarts school founders is particularly famous for that. He's dead now, of course. They say that it's a genetic trait which he passed down to this evil guy called Voldemort.' There was a pause during which Virginia got up and took out a sandwich from her bag. 'My family?' Virginia mused, sitting down and sinking her teeth into the sandwich. 'Mum's a great cook. But Drake here prefers his frogs fresh so he can catch them himself.'
'Makes me feel like I'm in the wild again,' Drake added. 'Something I can't be because of my injury.' He contorted himself to show Aura a large scar on his side.

Unfortunately, by that point, she wasn't particularly listening. "Evil....? Evil how...?"She asked, trying to hide her concern. Auora was hoping that maybe...it was one of those kind of things that could be debated, like...like whether tv was a bad influence on people...or maybe there was another Voldemort...that would be a good explanation...

But she couldn't help but doubt the latter, and the prior...Well, somehow it didn't seem entirely plausable. Of course...She didn't know much about wizards. Maybe it was a popular name...maybe...
